Hey Don congrats on the new van! The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender Passenger's Side item # PVP20B and Driver's Side item # PVD20B will both work with cargo carriers. They extend out to 120 degrees and the top of it is 5-3/16" above the hitch pin hole as show in the pictures below.

The Kuat Pivot 2's have a weight capacity of 250 lbs. Since they are hitch extenders they will reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50%. I can't guarantee these will get your rear doors all the way open and folded to the sides, but I can say they're going to be your best shot. Worst case scenario you'll be limited to 90 degrees on the side you're choosing to swing away to.

The 22-1/2x49 Curt Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - Aluminum item # C18113 is going to be one of our most lightweight options that's got a pretty low profile. It weighs only 25 lbs and measures 22-1/2" long x 49" wide x 4-3/4" tall. It will stick out right at 18" from the rear most portion when attached to one of the Kuat's.

Hey Don, how did the Kuat Pivot 2 work out on your Sprinter with the generator setup? Were you able to get the rear doors to swing open as far as you needed? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar build.

@JerredH Hi Jarred, I was not able to find any product that would allow me to open the rear doors all the way to the side of the van. I now have a tray that I remove and store it and the generator inside. I have the room to carry both inside but it is a pain to set up and break down. Would have preferred to have a tray that would allow to swing to the side to open doors to the van side wall Don
