Question:

We have a 2017 Model X, with towing package and are looking for a product that will allow for hitch storage so our Bernese Mountain dog doesn’t need to share the back with our stuff mainly camping or luggage. The X has a maximum vertical weight limit of 120 lbs on the hitch which makes the weight a critical factor. We travel distances as well so being able to secure the cargo is also important. Any ideas?

What I highly recommend is the Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # C18113 because at just 25 lbs it is the lightest carrier available, giving you 95 lbs of capacity. so you can transport your gear. This carrier does come with a pin and clip though I recommend adding the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 to not only secure your carrier but also minimize any rattle so you can have a more pleasant journey.

To secure your cargo a great option is the etrailer Cargo Bag w/ Mounting Straps # e98990 which will fit snugly on the carrier and keep your gear dry.
