  • Carrying capacity: 2 bikes
  • Maximum weight capacity: 80 lbs.
  • Application: 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" (Class I and II) trailer hitches

Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

This stylish rack from Kuat carries up to two bikes and fits 1-1/4" trailer hitch receivers. Constructed with rigid 6061 heat-treated aluminum tubing, it is one of the lightest bike racks in its class, weighing less than 13 pounds. Innovative anti-sway cradles fit up to 3" diameter frames. Its convenient hand tightening cam system eliminates the need for tools by tightening the bike rack inside the hitch receiver using a large turning knob. The folding design of this bike rack allows for both easy storage and full access to your rear cargo area.

Durable dual-strap cradles provide extra support for bike frames (shown on the Pearl model)

Each cradle has two straps that secure your bike by the top tube and the down tube or seat tube. The cradles fit up to 3" frames.

Large turning knob shown on the front of the hitch barAnti-wobble piece shown extending from the hitch bar

The Beta uses only a convenient hand knob to tighten the rack inside the hitch, unlike other racks that require a bolt and wrench.

Compact folding design allows for convenient storage

The rack tilts forward, away from your vehicle, when you remove the pin at the base, allowing easy access to your vehicle's cargo area. The arms fold down and the hitch bar rotates 270 degrees, parallel to the upright bar. This folding design makes the rack very easy to store.

We've been using this bike rack with a 1.25" Draw-Tite receiver hitch (also purchased from etrailer) on a 2012 Prius C for a month with no problems. As shown on the pictures, it fits two bikes very well, even one with a baby carrier. I chose this model based on recommendations from etrailer that it can be easily detached from the car without tools. True to their word, it is very easily detachable from the hitch and folds up nicely to fit in your garage/closet/storage area. Basically, it uses a hand tightened ball bearing mechanism to secure itself into the hitch receiver, and then uses a 3/8" hand locked pin as a safety device. You can install and de-install this rack in just a few minutes. During driving, there is little noticeable vibration from this rack, even on rougher roads or speed bumps. The only downside is that the holes on the receiver hitch do not align perfectly with the holes on the bike rack (see picture). I believe a few other reviewers also noted this issue. There is enough room to fit the safety pin, but not quite enough to fit a 1/2" hitch lock. I called Kuat to ask them about this and the rep told me that not all hitches will line up with this rack. Kuat, coincidentally(?), sells a hitch lock that is also 3/8" (same size as the safety pin) and still fits. 418549

This is my first bike rack, but for the price I don't know if you can do any better. The rack is light and easy to use. The rack is completely stable at all speeds, and even when I drive fairly aggressively. The anti-wobble features work as well as you would expect. The rack has also done no noticeable damage to my bike, with the exception of the size sticker that is on the upper part of the seat tube. This is a sticker that I planned to remove anyway, so no worries there. One word of caution though, and this goes for any "hanging" bike rack: if you have quick-release wheels, make sure the quick release lever is fully tightened and closed. On my way home the other day the vibrations of the road loosened the lever on my rear wheel and the wheel came off when I went over a small bump in the road at speed. The drive chain and my cable lock kept the wheel from smashing into the road. Now I know to check the tightness on the levers not just before I ride, but also before I transport the bike. 188949

I love this rack. It is heavy duty but still light. I am impressed with the design of the anti-wobble feature, the folding mechanisms and the straps. I saw a comment somewhere that you can't drop the rack while loaded. It might not be recommended but I do it every time I load my bike and forget that my Chevy Sonic hatch is still up. I do it with only one bike on it and lower it slowly and it works fine. This is no fault of the rack but I did run into conflicts with loading my 29'er and my fat bike at the same time. They both have slanted top tubes which put the tires and bars in the same spot. It looks like I can rotate one of the pads and strap it to the down tube though. I am very happy with this rack. 185441

Very light and just what we need for our Subaru WRX Sti. We have yet to put it to a test, though we set it up and like the tightening feature. You can eliminate the rattle that has occurred in past racks by tightening down the thumbscrews. 130322

Well, weve owned this rack for about a year and is still solid. We took it from MA to Fla with two fairly heavy mountain bikes on it and couldnt even tell it was back there. The swing down feature is nice, though it is unassisted meaning you will be presented with the full weight of the bikes when you pivot it down. We had no problem with this, though.

What I love about this hitch: 1. So lightweight that I can install and uninstall it by myself quickly and easily (female, under 5' tall and <100 lbs.) 2. It's STURDY 3. With the Kuat hitch lock, I feel more secure that the rack won't be stolen (sold separately). Universal brands of hitch locks, 1/2", do not fit. It seems to have to be this one 4. Easy to strap the bikes on, and the straps appear strong 5. Our 2 bikes didn't smack into each other on our test run of about 10 miles 6. On same test run, rack didn't move. We were fearful at first, but after a short while forgot it was on the car What I don't like (minor annoyance, not about the rack itself): The silly drawstring burlap bags that are included with Kuat's products for the small accessories!! They are bulky, scratchy, impractical, and I just want to throw them out! :) I couldn't be happier with my purchase...from the price, to the rack itself, to the great service (and easy to navigate/informative website) at etrailer! 45961

I looked at a lot of bike racks and the Kuat was one of the very best. Lightweight and a reasonable price. It folds nearly flat and easy to store in the trunk. I'm using on a Toyota Prius and one pleasant surprise was I can open the hatchback without moving the rack or the bikes. 132309

Having just received the Kuat Beta bike carrier, I am giving my impressions out of the box. The Beta appears to be a well built, nicely engineered, lightweight two bike carrier that should be easy to mount and load. In addition to it's advantageous weight characteristics and ease of installment, it is designed to fold into a compact unit, which will have a lot of practical application for storage and transport. I like the simple design of the unit and the quality feel of it's components. The Kuat Beta looks like a winner! This is my first experience with etrailer, which has been excellent. They have a highly efficient web site that includes well done product videos and knowledgable support personnel. Ordering was quite easy and delivery was fast, with excellent email notification throughout the delivery process. 47524

Best bike rack I have used. My last rack was so heavy and it made it quite difficult to remove it from the receiver. This one is as smooth as butter. However, the design intent of placing the hole for mounting it to the receiver is flawed. The manufacture places it off center and expects you to use the small 3/8' pin provided to fit between the rack and the receiver for a 1-1/4' hitch receiver. The holes apparently line up perfect with a 2" receiver. This is a dumb idea. I am forced to drill the hole centered so I can use the 1/2' locking hitch pin I have. I don't want to buy a 3/8" locking pin since I need a 1/2" one for my trailer. This makes an oblong hole in the bike rack. Note to Kuat: Center the dang thing or making unique sizes for each hitch receiver it a better plan. 123962

Arrived in two days so I can was very pleased. I put this rack on my Infiniti G37x sedan. Purchased this model because the aluminum frame is light weight and won't rust like steel in the rain. It took about 15 minutes to install and also fold up quickly when removed or placed in trunk. The rack locks in tight with no wobble or movement. I can also access the trunk with bikes mounted on rack which is nice. Note to buyers: you will need to purchase a hitch lock and bike lock as it doesn't come with the Kuat rack. This seems pretty consistent with similar rack options. 269001

Great product and a great experience buying from etrailer - excellent price and amazing customer service and followup once product arrived. I love almost everything about this rack: its design is fantastic; it's easy to use; it's lightweight but strong; the finish is very good; love the rack lock mechanism (so rack isn't shifting about in the hitch). Here's the one thing that bothers me: while Kuat racks are designed in Springfield, Missouri; I read on their site they're "assembled in Taiwan/China." I'm glad Kuat is honest enough to share that info but geez, if they're talented enough to design these great racks, can't they figure out how to make them locally in Missouri, too? I'd gladly pay at least $50 more for the same item if it was made in the States. 72600

This is my first Kuat rack and I am extremely pleased with it! The level of quality I got for the money still exceed my expectations. The fold-flat design and durable yet lightweight construction are top shelf. Fit and Finish couldn't be better either. The rack's cam system locks so tight to the receiver that you would think they were welded together. The powder-coat finish is a thick, long-lasting hard-shell that will offer outstanding weather protection for years to come. The anti-sway carriages can pivot and adjust to fit nearly any bike and lock that bike down for complete immobilization. All in all, the Kuat Beta is a stellar rack. Period. If you decide to purchase one for yourself, you won't be disappointed. 132369

Light weight and folds easily to fit inside the trunk of an 06-12 Fusion. The fitment with this item and a Draw-Tite hitch required no modifications. However, the offset of the 1/2" receiver pin holes of this bike rack requires the use of a 3/8" hitch pin, one is included. If you want to use a key lock hitch pin, I am using a Reese hitch lock with the included bike rack pin and some metal sleeves that are available from just about any hardware store. I suppose the offset holes of this bike rack is to assist with the anti-rattle feature in conjunction with the receiver tensioner. I prefer compatibility with a Class-1 receiver. A trip to my friend's machine shop should correct this flaw. 182256

The first thing I noticed after pulling the Kuat Beta 1-1/4" rack out of the box was how light it is. I have another 4 bike, 2" rack for another vehicle and the weight difference is apparent. I like the fact that I can install and remove the rack without tools, with my other rack I carry a socket wrench and pliers in the back of my vehicle (not a big deal, but it sure is nice not to have to). The rack feels sturdy and well built. I live in a bike friendly city where I see Thule and Yakima racks everywhere so I also like having a high quality rack that's a little different from the masses. Good job Kuat and etrailer.com for the quick shipping!! 109021

I have this rack on a 1-1/4" hitch fitted to a KIA Soul. It's my first hitch/rack so I don't have anything to compare it with but I find it very easy to use. It has loops on it that allow the rack to be locked to the hitch - peace of mind when left on the car. One of the best things about it is its ability to swing away from the hatchback door. That has been useful frequently. I also use the rack as a bike stand to work on the bike. If you're new to bike racks like this, be advised that you may want to secure the front wheels of the bikes; they tend to move around a LOT if untied. I think this would go for any rack of this style. 427154

After asking an etrailer expert about the Kuat Beta bike rack, I ordered it online. It is just what I needed to transport our bikes (using a class 1 trailer hitch) behind our small car. It is lightweight, but seems to be well made. 71670

I've owned just about every major type of rack over the years based on vehicle application. Needed a hanging rack for my new 4Runner and the KUAT Beta delivers. It is light weight, highly engineered and uses qualitative materials. The positive pins are quick and easy giving me a piece of mind over cam lock mechanisms. Two anti wobble mechanisms are built in and they are solid. I am jazzed that the rack is made of aluminum and weighs less than my bike - unlike many others that are 2x that weight. It folds flat for easy storage too. Excellent design / job KUAT. Etrailer's service is tops too! 502046

I wanted to let you know (and please pass this along to others at etrailer.com) how pleased I was with the service and the finished product I received at etrailer. I brought my car in for a trailer hitch and a new bike rack (Kuat). I was immediately impressed with the customer service! Every single person was friendly and professional. It seemed to me that every employee enjoyed their job and this great attitude was generously shared with the customers. I was also impressed with the overall HUGE operation that etrailer has. Most of all, this is just to say THANKS for a great experience. 463369

Package arrived ahead of schedule per the e-trailer email shipment-tracking updates. The Kuat Beta bike carrier was light weight and very well designed. I loaded my mountain bike and took a 30 min drive to a near by Lake trails system. The carrier did not move around and it kept the bike well secured. The compression tool that cinches down the 1-1/4" hitch sleeve keeps it tight in transit. It took about 30 seconds to remove the rack and stow it in the trunk until I returned from my ride. this is my second purchase from e-trailer. 166413

I purchased a Kuta Beta from etrailer based on customer reviews and I was not disappointed. The Kuta Beta is an excellent product, and the service I received from etrailer was exceptional. Originally I ordered the wrong hitch. My mistake. But their assistance in getting me the right hitch went above and beyond what I could ever expect. They even called me at home, on their own initiative, to offer their assistance. Hats off to etrailer! 111747

Light and sleek. The pins easily unlatch for raising the bar that holds the bikes, or for dropping the rack for trunk access. It carried 2 bikes without any problems. I did not actually set it up myself, as my husband was anxious for a chore. I am hoping it will pull out from my hitch easily for stowing in the hatchback. Glad I have this rack rather than the other bulky ones I have seen. Great service, super quick delivery!!! 133406

Great bike rack. Very light, but strong, and folds up very compactly! Easy to store and carry down to car from apt. on 11th floor! Good looking, sturdy, and color matches VW grey. Bike rack tightens easily so no rattle (and no tools; uses a handle on bottom to turn and tighten). Also tilts back to get access to hatch (you just have to take your bike off first). Definitely recommend it!!! 384574

I love my Kuat Bike Rack and the trailer hitch I bought from etrailer. The main thing I appreciated was Mike H and Victoria B, with their indepth knowledge and good advice. Putting a trailer hitch and bike rack on a Mazda Miata is not easy - but the pieces Mike and Victoria recommended all worked great. Thank you for being a great company! 304155

Love my bike rack! It still feels quite sturdy after a year, and easy to use.. I like how I can fold it down to take up less space in my tiny garage. Thanks!

This bike rack was very easy to install and is lightweight and easy to handle. It is well made, and after watching the videos on your website I felt like a pro. It fit the car exactly as shown, clears the trunk easily. I put it on a small sports car so weight was a factor. It holds the bike very secure with four straps. 206370

We hauled our bikes around the eastern provinces of Canada last summer and they rode great on the rack, even on rough roads. The rack is easy to mount on the hitch and it swings down easily for access to the hatchback. The rubber straps seem durable and they are quick and simple to use for securing the bikes to the rack. 251042

The bike rack itself seems to be of good quality. Getting the bike rack to fit into the hitch was a whole other story. On order to get it to fit the powder coating on the part that went into the receiver had to be grinded off, no easy feat. Took an hour to get powder coating off to be able to get rack ti fit into hitch. 125432

I have had the Kuat bike rack for a year now and can't be happier. Being 69, I bought it because it was lightweight - and it has been so easy to put on and take off the car by myself, while still feeling it is secure and durable. Customer service was also responsive when I initially received the wrong product. 248120

I'm completely happy with this rack! It arrived fully assembled and took only a minute to install. Super easy, super light, and super sturdy. I do use a short strap to secure the bike frame to the rack when I'm only hauling one bike because there's some sway. But not a big deal. Highly recommend. 506478

I love this bike rack. It's so lightweight, unlike my old Yakima Kingpin rack. It's easy to load and secure the bikes, and folds up and stores nicely when I'm done using it. 221903

Solid rack with very little bike sway/rock when driving. The rack did not sit at 90* when installed, more like 88*, had to shim it to make it straight up. 187139

My only complaint is that the clip on the pin is really hard to push through...there's gotta be another way... 319796

We had to buy a Kuat pin lock as a work around for the pin not fitting over the bar and that has worked great. I think Kuat either needs to fix the pin problem or sell the rack with the lock.

Ask the Experts about this Kuat Hitch Bike Racks
Do you have a question about this Hitch Bike Rack?

  • Comparing and Contrasting the Kuat Beta and Thule Helium Light Weight 2 Bike Racks
  • In the realm of light weight, 2 bike racks, the Kuat Beta and the Thule Helium are at the top of the list. The first major difference is weight. While both are very light weight racks, the Kuat Beta, # B202-114 is in the feather weight division at only 12-3/5 pounds. The Thule Helium, # TH9042 is slightly heavier at about 18-1/4 pounds. The Kuat Beta boasts an impressive 100 pound weight capacity (50 pounds per bike). While the Thule Helium can manage 70 pounds (35 pounds per bike),...

  • Comparing Thule Helium, Kuat Alpha, and Rola TX-102 Trailer Hitch Bike Racks, 2007 Nissan Maxima
  • For the 2007 Nissan Maxima, the only trailer hitches available are class I hitches. I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch, # 24788. I have incldued links to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation for you to view. Since a class I trailer hitch is what is available for your Maxima, you will need a bike rack compatible with class I hitches. Also, on class I hitches, you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes. In terms of weight, the Kuat Alpha, # B202-114, will be...

  • Bike Rack that is Quick and Easy to Remove from a Trailer Hitch on a Toyota Venza
  • There isn't a quick release set up for the Thule Roadway # TH912XTR but if you used the Kuat Beta, # B202-2, then it has a regular pin and a knob that you can loosen by hand and not have to use a wrench. This model fits 2 inch hitches only. If the hitch on your Venza is a 1-1/4 inch then # B202-114 would be the correct bike rack. These racks cost just a little more but they are super light weight at just over 12 pounds. I have linked a video review for you.

  • Bike Rack Options for a 45 lb Electric Bike
  • I do have some bike rack options that will allow you to carry a 45 lb bike. Unfortunately the vast majority of hanging style bike racks (which tend to be lighter than platform style) cannot support the weight of a 45 lb bike. The Kuat Beta # B202-114 can carry 2 bikes that weigh up to 80 lbs combined (40 lbs per bike). If you remove the battery on your electric bike then it might be light enough for the Beta to carry. Saris has their Freedom # SA4412B 2 bike platform rack which is...

  • Recommended Bike Rack Compatible With a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon With OEM Hitch Receiver
  • I do have a solution for you, but from the research that I have done it looks like the OEM 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver that you have on your 2017 Subaru Outback is a Class I hitch; you can look on it to confirm if it is a Class I or not. In that case, my contact at Softride said that none of their bike racks are compatible with Class I receivers. This means that the Dura Parallelogram # SR26247 is not compatible with your current receiver. Since you can only carry a maximum of...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid for Bike Rack
  • For your 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid the Draw Tite hitch part # 24899 is a confirmed fit. For a bike rack you will be limited to 2 bikes maximum because the hitches for the vehicle are Class I hitches. I recommend going with a light weight bike rack to reduce the stress on the hitch and vehicle. The Kuat Beta, # B202-114, is a great option. It is Class I compatible, holds 2 bikes, and weighs just over 12 pounds. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you. If you plan on...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Subaru XV Crosstrek with OEM Hitch
  • The newer OEM Subaru hitch is a bit of an oddity. Because that pin hole is so close to the end of the receiver, that means that very little of the bike rack shank will be inside of the hitch. That will produce a lot of stress on the hitch and bike rack shank. Thule was actually the company that brought it to our attention and asked us what we thought they should do. Subaru did not think too much about accessories when designing this hitch and I am not comfortable with any bike rack with...

  • Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
  • There are better options available for carrying bikes on your 2011 Camaro. Trunk mount bike racks have been around for a while and are a good, inexpensive option to carry bikes, but like you, many people are weary of using a trunk mount rack because the weight of the bike rack and the bikes is sitting on the trunk and bumper. Bike rack manufacturers test these bike racks and as long as the weight capacity of the bike rack is not exceeded and the bike rack is installed properly, you should...

  • Recommended Hitch Lock for Kuat Beta 2 Bike Rack
  • Kuat offers two different hitch locks, the # KUATLOCK for the # B202-114 Beta that's designed for the 1-1/4 inch receiver and the # H101 lock that's designed for the # B202-2 Beta rack that's designed for the 2 inch receiver. • Will the Kuat Beta 2-Bike Rack allow Clearance for Bikes On a 2010 Prius With Curt Hitch
  • I have a few recommendations for you. My personal pick would be the Swagman XC2 Wheel Mount Bike Rack, item # S64650. This rack has a shank that rises about 2 inches for clearance and is very easy to load and unload. The ratcheting hooks are easy to use and they hold the bikes very securely. A friend of mine uses this rack on his Ford Focus and has no clearance problems, even when going over large speed bumps. We have a video review of this rack for you to check out, see link. For a...

  • Recommended Bike Rack Option for 2016 Subaru WRX STI w/ Factory Spoiler
  • According to my Thule representative, the height of the spoiler on your vehicle would prevent you from installing a trunk mounted bike rack, but there are options that would allow you to carry two bikes. Your best bet would be to install a hitch like the Curt Class I, part # C11408 and use it as an attachment point for a hitch mounted bike rack. My favorite bike rack right now is the Kuat Beta, part # B202-114. The rack is super strong, but its aluminum construction means its only about...

  • Availability of 2 Bike Rack to Fit Class I Hitch on a 2012 Subaru Impreza
  • A Class I hitch has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. A Class II hitch is rated for a 350-lb tongue weight capacity and the Class III is rated up to 600 lbs tongue weight capacity. I am including a link to a FAQ page on hitch receivers. To keep a user from overloading a Class I hitch, Class II hitch accessories, such as the Yakima LiteRider Aluminum 3 Bike Carrier, part # Y02471, are designed to not fit. • We do have some trailer hitch receivers available for your 2018 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback! Both the Draw-Tite # 24951 and the Curt # C11458 are confirmed fits. They both have the same weight ratings, but in comparison the Draw-Tite has more of a difficult installation while the Curt requires a support strap # 18050 for all non-trailer loads per the warranty. • Why A Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Toyota Prius Can Only Carry a 2 Bikes on a Bike Rack
  • The issue with a Class I trailer hitch is not how much the bikes weigh, entirely, it is the amount of torque produced by having weight further from the hitch. With more weight further from the hitch, even if it is a little weight, it can damage the hitch, the rack, and the vehicle, especially when you add in any up and down movement while traveling. You may have heard of or even used a cheater or breaker bar when changing a tire. The longer the bar the easier it is to loosen lug nuts....

The Kuat Beta, part # B202-114, and Thule Helium Aero, part # TH9042, will both fit Class I hitches. Any high quality hitch bike rack should not have a problem with speed bumps, provided you take the bump at an appropriate speed. • Recommendation for Carrying a Terra Trike and a Felt Mountain Bike on a 2009 Honda Fit
  • We do have a solution that will allow you to carry your terra trike and your Felt mountain bike on your 2009 Honda Fit, however, the Kuat Beta Bike Rack, # B202-114, that you referenced will not support a trike and a mountain bike because there is not enough room. To carry both of these bikes on your vehicle, you will actually need two different bike racks. This route will require a larger investment, but it is the best and safest way to carry both bikes with your Fit. At this time...

  • Both the Kuat Hitch Bike Rack, item # B202-114, and the Thule Helium Aero Aluminum 2 Bike Carrier, item # TH9042, will work on your 2007 Accord sedan. The TH9042 rack has 11-1/4 inches clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole for your bumper and the B202-114 rack has 10-1/2 inches. If you like the integrated locks the Thule rack would be a good choice but if the two bikes you will sometimes carry will weigh over 70 pounds (sounds like 76 pounds) I would go with the Kuat rack. The hitches all install in the same location at the center of the rear bumper on the vehicle, none are more hidden than the others, and all require trimming a small area of the fascia underneath the vehicle. • Differences Between Kuat Beta and Thule Roadway for 2010 Mazda 5 with Class I Receiver
  • The main difference between the two racks is the weight differential, as you mentioned. The Kuat rack has a slightly higher weight capacity, 80 lbs versus the 70 lb capacity of the Thule Roadway. Both racks have anti-wobble systems, the Thule rack uses a threaded hitch pin that snugs the shank of the rack tightly against the side of the receiver, while the Kuat rack uses a standard hitch pin, along with a knob that is used to tighten the rack/receiver connection. If the expense was...
