Trunk Mount 3-Bike Rack for a 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon

I do have an option for you but the Thule OutWay 3-Bike Rack part # TH56BV will not fit your 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. Instead, I recommend the Yakima HangOut 3 Bike Rack part # Y02638 so long as you do not have the power liftgate. This is actually the only trunk mount 3-bike rack I have found to be a confirmed fit for your vehicle. The HangOut has anti sway cradles to keep your bikes from making contact with the vehicle/each other, adjustable arms to ensure the bikes are carried at a level angle, and a six point contact system for improved stability.

If you would like to add security to the HangOut then you can do so with the Security Strap for Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Carrier part # Y02623. In order to add security to your bikes you can do so with the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Cable part # Y07233 and the Yakima Same Key System part # Y07202. I have attached the fit notes from Yakima for you as well.

- Place the upper strap hooks at the top edge of trunk, hatch lid, or rear door.
- Outer/lower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate or well. When bikes are loaded, re-tension straps to ensure base pads only make contact with the vertical surface of the well or plate.
- Place the lower strap hooks at the bottom edge of the trunk, hatch lid, or rear door.
- Side strap hooks to back side edge of trunk, hatch, or rear door above tail lights.
- Yakima trunk mounted racks require use of Yakima’s Glass Hatch Hook Accessory in place of the lower strap hooks. One set of the Glass Hatch Hooks is included with each Yakima Trunk Carrier.
- Yakima trunk mounted racks weight limit for 2 bikes is 60 lbs. / 3 bikes is 90 lbs.
- For this vehicle; Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require that the lower hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode. See instructions for anchor mode implementation.

OK, I give up… we do have the power lift gate, so it looks like there is NO bike rack that will fit on the trunk of this car. Now we’re going to have to (a) install a 1-1/4” hitch, and then (b) find the right rack for the hitch. Even so, I think we’re limited to 2 bikes on the hitch, given weight ratings… Please let me know what you would recommend to carry as many bikes as possible with this vehicle! (No roof racks, though, please.)

Correct, I do still have an option for you but if you have the power liftgate then there are no trunk mount bike racks confirmed to fit to my knowledge and I did check with nearly every bike rack manufacturer we offer. Therefore, your only option to carry bikes on your Acura TSX Sport Wagon if you do not wish to install a roof rack is with a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack. With that being said, the maximum number of bikes that you can carry on a hitch mounted bike rack with this vehicle is two. The reason for this has to do more so with the leverage than it does with weight. In order to carry two bikes on the rear of your TSX Sport Wagon I first recommend a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11085 which is currently the only option for you. It will however also require the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap part # 18050. Then for a bike rack, I recommend like the Kuat Beta part # B202-114 because it is super easy to install and use. It also has a lifetime warranty and only weighs 12.6 lbs. The only option to carry the third bike would be to place it on the roof assuming you could not fit it in the vehicle. If this is something you can live with then we have the SeaSucker Talon Roof Bike Rack part # 298-BT1004 which is a great option because it does not require a roof rack.
