This Dexter hub-and-drum assembly fits 3,500-lb E-Z Lube trailer axles with #84 spindles and gives your trailer strong, consistent braking. It’s built to work with both electric and hydraulic drum brakes, so you can match it to the system you already run. The 10" x 2-1/4" drum provides a solid braking surface, helping your trailer slow down evenly and predictably mile after mile.
Keeping up with bearing maintenance doesn’t have to be a chore. The included E-Z Lube-compatible grease cap has a rubber plug that lets you reach the zerk fitting on the spindle without pulling the hub apart. Just pop the plug, attach the grease gun, and pump in fresh grease—it flows directly to both the inner and outer bearings to keep them protected and running smooth.
Everything you need to mount it up is in the box—inner and outer bearings (L68149 and L44649), races, grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. The heavy-duty iron construction gives long-term strength and stability, while the precise bearing fitments (1.378" inner diameter for the L68149 and 1.063" for the L44649) keep things spinning true.
Whether you’re upgrading or replacing old hubs, this assembly’s 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern makes it easy to find matching wheels from 13" up through 16". Each hub supports 1,750 lbs, giving you plenty of carrying power for your 3,500-lb axle setup. The 1/2" wheel studs and 1.986" grease cap flange diameter round out a solid, easy-to-fit setup that’s proven reliable for the long haul.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Product fit as designed. I used the old Castle Nut and had to purchase a new cotter pin. I would suggest this kit include a new Castle Nut and Cotter Pin; otherwise the product was excellent and installation was easy.
Disappointed washers were not included also that bearings are mfg in china

The hub, drum, and bearings are worked fine so far. The only minor complaint was there was no thrust washer included. This is the washer that sits under the crown nut. Luckily, I was able to use the old one.
Glad etrailer had this in stock! With all the campers out there, you would think this would be more available. Had a major incident on the highway and had to piece the axle back together with a 10" 5 lug and new wheel and tire to get back on the road. etrailer had this at my home waiting for me when I got back off of vacation!
My trailer drum kit arrived on 8/14/17 opened it up and started going thru my part and drums look good but Dexter tape the bearings too the the nose of the drum and both bearing sets and parts where crushed, called etrailer and after talking to etrailer on 8/14/17 they are sending me replacement part. So I'm happy they have good customer service they need to talk to dexter about how they package their product. How they pack their product is a direct reflection on etrailers.
Very good hub upgrade. Could have probably been even better if I´d opted to install fresh electric brakes too. Need to figure out the part number for the appropriate ones and do them too. Hubs themselves seem perfect.
Greatest service. I ordered the wrong hub kits for my tandem trailer. Realized the mistake the following day talked with Bridget and she emailed me the return paperwork. Then I ordered the correct parts, got them when promised. We were able to start our trip in time. The drum kits were complete except for the outer "D" washer. Just used the original ones. No problem. My hero.
This kit went on the axles without issue. I have been running it a year and temps are low and turns fine. The problem is I used the ez-lube covers that came with the kit. One year in the Arizona sun and all four rubber inserts dried up and crumbled out of the hub cover. Use the all steel caps that come with the kit and not the ez-lube ones included in the kit. I just ordered new all metal covers and will have to remove the bearings and reseal.
I used these to replace odd-ball 5 on 5.5 hubs. I hate that bolt pattern. So hard to find good rims because hardly anyone uses them. In fact, I did this swap shortly after buying the trailer (read, tires and wheels were still in new condition). The dealer I bought them from was reluctant to give me much money for them. He told me that even he would have a hard time selling them because they were such an odd-ball bolt pattern. As he said this, I'm looking around at his lot of trailers, ALL with hubs with this same bolt patter. Ugh!
I wanted to upgrade the rims on my trailer, and upgrade the tires. So, went with this pattern (on two trailers). Quality product. Would def. buy again.
Delivery was 2 days ahead of what I expected. All the parts were exactly as described. Fit my spindle like a glove and we had the trailer on the road in less than 45 minutes. The website is great for giving you useful information that you are ordering the exact part you need. Everything from bolt centers to bearing numbers. In my experience, there is not a better vendor for these components.

The trailer is on the road often and this hub assembly has been trouble free, as expected.
etrailer was easy to work with and gather information for my horse trailer!! The information and selection was the best source I could find! The product was shipped and tracked right on schedule and actually arrived soon than I had expected.
These specific parts fit perfectly to a 2000 horse trailer that I had little information on to start with. The install was very straight forward, if I purchased the "manual" adjust.
The made in USA label is only half true. The bearings are cheap China stamped junk just thrown in the box completely unprotected. If you pay significantly more for the name brand made in USA you expect better.
Hub had some size issues. But called customer service and talked to a wonderful person,her name is Joy. She truly cared about correcting issue. I recommend etrailer for parts

The d-washer does not come with the hub. The hub and drum is made and assembled in the USA but the bearings are manufactured in China.
