Expert Answers about Trailer Valet

  • Are the Trailer Valet V211 and 5X the Same Thing
  • The Trailer Valet 5X and the older part # STC-V211are the same thing. Trailer Valet may have changed the number for the jack but it's the same thing as the previous name/number. Same capacities and everything.

  • Will Trailer Valet Work On Grass And Gravel To Move 20 Ft Boat And Trailer
  • The Trailer Valet, part # STC-V211 may work with your lawn if the ground is not soft, and your tongue weight is not excessive. The gravel may be another issue. If the gravel is loose and does not provide a solid footing it would be difficult to move the # STC-V211 with the boat attached. I have attached a product review video of the Trailer valet you can check out. The cranking that powers the drive system would depend on how level the ground is and if there is solid footing for the...

  • Trailer Dolly Recommendation for Moving 5,000 lb Trailer by Hand
  • Typically trailer tongue weight is between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight. So for a 5,000 lb trailer the tongue weight is most likely 500 to 750 lbs. I attached an article on determining tongue weight as well for you to check out. The best dolly setup we have is the part # TVXL2 for if you have a 2 inch hitch ball or part # TVXL25 for if you have a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. Both of these have a 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity and have a crank handle that you can use to...

  • Dimensions Of Replacement Mounting Bracket For Trailer Valet
  • There is no weight rating for the Mounting Bracket, part # TV-0002. It is designed to replace the bracket for the Trailer Valet Trailer Jack, part # STC-V211. The Trailer valet has a weight capacity of 500 lbs. You may be able to install a different trailer jack in the bracket but since they do not test the bracket with any other manufacturer items, I cannot give you a weight capacity for the bracket or a guarantee it will work. I pulled one of the # TV-0002 from our warehouse and...

  • Can the Trailer Valet XL Be Used on Gravel Inclines
  • If the incline is slight and the gravel isn't super deep the Trailer Valet XL part # TVXL25 would work. But if you have a steep driveway and/or deep gravel the wheels of the Valet are going to spin. In the video I attached a link to we show the unit being used in gravel. We also show it being used to move up a relatively steep incline. This does also have an internal brake that is demoed in the video I mentioned. When you stop cranking the handle the brake activates.

  • The Trailer Valet V2 Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive - 2" and 2-5/16" Hitch Ball TVXLV2 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It did come with the 9 inch solid tires, the stabilizer bracket, and the coupling plate. The Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive - 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # TVXL25 or the 2 inch ball option # TVXL2 come with the solid tires, the base plate, and a single hitch ball. • Recommended Trailer Dolly with Brakes for Moving 2000 Pound Trailer on Incline
  • We actually carry several trailer dollies that have an automatic brake. The one most appropriate for your 2000 pound trailer is the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack and Trailer Mover # STC-V211. The 5X has a 15 inch lift and is rated for 500 pounds. It uses an integrated chain drive system that is powered by a hand crank. Add the drill attachment, # TVDA, to use your cordless drill to power the drive system if you'd like. Take a look at the videos I attached to see the dolly being used.

  • As long as your trailer isn't loaded to max capacity when you park it, I recommend the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive. This easy to use trailer dolly comes with a hand crank and a drill attachment. This dolly has a 1000 lb tongue weight capacity and a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs. • Part Needed to Change 2-5/16 Inch Hitch Ball to 2 Inch Hitch Ball on Trailer Valet XL
  • To provide a 2 inch hitch ball for your Trailer Valet XL # TVXL25 that came with a 2-5/16 inch ball, you can use the 2 Inch Hitch Ball for Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly # TVHB2. This part number will provide you with a new 2 inch diameter ball for your dolly. The bases for the 2 inch ball and 2-5/16 inch ball are the same, so you can swap out one diameter ball for the other. My contact at Trailer Valet says it will just take a good wrench to remove the 2-5/16 inch ball and install...

  • Does the Trailer Valet XL Permanently Attach to a Trailer Frame
  • You are correct, the Trailer Valet XL part # TVXL2 does not attach to the trailer frame at all. Basically you just line up the hitch ball under the coupler and then pull back until the ball sits perpendicular to the ground. Check out the picture I attached that shows the system being pulled up underneath a coupler.

  • Dimensions of Trailer Valet XL Ball Mount Height
  • Good news! I was able to go out to the warehouse and take a few measurements for you. The Trailer Valet and the maximum height of the ball will be 20-1/4 inches from the ground. I also took the measurement from the center of the ball to the outer edge of the tire and it was 4-3/4 inches. This will give you a good idea of if your Fulton X2 will clear or not. I have attached a diagram of the dimensions for your convenience.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Valet Leaning To One Side
  • It is not normal for your Trailer Valet # TVXL2 to have 1 tire taking most of the weight. I recommend checking the tire pressure in those pneumatic tires to ensure they are balanced. Uneven ground or a coupler that isn't level or a trailer weighted heavy to one side could cause this issue as well, but the unit itself should not have an angle.

  • Will Trailer Valet LX Work on a Trailer with Surge Brakes
  • The Trailer Valet XL part # TVXL25 would work on a trailer with surge brakes. But when you are backing the trailer up you may find that the brakes of the trailer want to engage if you are trying to back up a hill. If you have a manual lockout on the actuator you would want to engage it. Under most circumstances the brakes would not want to engage.

  • Will the Trailer Valet # STC-V211 Fit a 2011 Jayco Pop-up Camper
  • The installation bracket for the Trailer Valet # STC-V211 that you referenced takes up to 8 inches of space to mount on the trailer frame. If you have enough room to mount the unit, you should be fine being able to swivel it into position to travel because you should not have anything else extending over the side-rails of your trailer. • How Much Space is Required on the Trailer Frame to Mount the Trailer Valet Trailer Jack and Mover
  • We have tested the Trailer Valet, # STC-V211, on a trailer but not on coarse gravel. However, I feel that it would fair well because the dual wheels provide a wide surface area and the wheels are not hard plastic so they can move over a little rougher terrain than your average jack wheel. The bracket takes up 8 inches of real estate on the trailer frame. The unit has a capacity of 5,000 pounds but the further back on the frame it is the harder it will be to use the jack portion and maneuver...

  • Can Any Hitch Ball Be Used with Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly
  • The 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that is included with the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly # TVXL25 is uniquely threaded to tighten into the base on this jack. Because of this, you likely won't be able to use your own hitch balls. If you also need a 2 inch ball, you can just add the Replacement 2 Inch Hitch Ball # TVHB2. • Valet XL Trailer Dolly Part # TVXL25 Tilting While in Motion
  • I spoke to my contact at Trailer Valet and they informed me that the problem you are experiencing can normally be attributed to one of three different situations. The first thing you will need to do to ensure the dolly does not tilt while in motion would be to ensure that you have the proper size hitch ball that matches the coupler you have on your trailer. • Can Wheel and Jack on Trailer Valet be Easily Removed To Tow a Trailer and Reduce Tongue Weight

I had to jack it up using the Trailer Valet, slip under a jack stand, and lower the trailer on the jack stand. Then I just raised the jack a little, pulled the pin, and the whole unit can slide off. • Can the Trailer Valet Move a 4,000 Pound Trailer Up a Small Incline

The Valet has 2 gears and depending on the degree the incline is you might find that the low or high gear is better suited for that particular incline. I have included a link to a video review for you.

  • Will Trailer Valet XL Make it Up Inclines and Through Gravel
  • If you check out the review video I attached for the Trailer Valet XL # TVXL2 that you mentioned you can get an idea what conditions it can work in. We show it climbing a pretty steep incline as well as being used in gravel. It's hard to say if this would work for you since we don't know how steep of an incline you have, but we can say that it will handle inclines and gravel better than it's predecessor.

  • Can Trailer Valet 5X Be Used On Either Side of Trailer Tongue

  • Installing Trailer Valet # STC-V211 on Trailer Frame that is Too Narrow for Supplied Hardware
  • If your trailer frame is a bit too small for you to mount the bracket of Trailer Valet # STC-V211 then what I suggest is to simply use a steel spacer plate to take up that slack, rather than use different hardware. Keeping the original hardware avoids any question about strength and compatibility and the extra material at the valet's attachment point will provide reinforcement for the trailer frame. Your local hardware store will have what you need and most likely the cost for the steel...
