Timbren SES for 2021 Nissan Frontier Hauling Commercial Mower and Towing Utility Trailer

Updated 10/02/2025 | Published 10/01/2025

Question:

Dear etrailer, I’m somewhat confused on these suspension enhancement systems. I clicked on an ad for Timbren SES products that showed many severe duty products! Too many choices to narrow down which one would best. I do know I have at least a 7000 pound load system and it must help me with sagging. But, if I go to the website there is only one or two to choose from! I have a 2021 Nissan Frontier 4WD SV truck. I pull a 16 foot utility trailer and a heavy commercial mower. Any help appreciated, Ed

Hello again Ed! You probably ended up outside our fitguide with some of the Timbren the parts you were looking at. The Timbren SES severe service kit is designed for constant loads like a truck bed camper or salt spreader. Regardless, a severe service kit is not available for the Frontier.

The highest rated Timbren SES for your truck is the # TTORTUN4L which has a 3,000 lb capacity. You may have also seen the # T63AV which lists a 4,800 lb capacity but that is only the bump load, the capacity for a sustained load is 2,000 lbs so its even lower.

I'm not sure how much your mower weighs, but as long as the mower and tongue weight of your trailer aren't over 3,000 lbs these are still going to work well. The only thing rated higher would be the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2558 with a 5,000 lb load-leveling capacity.

Robin H. The Timbren is a little bit shy of what I need. My mower is about 1500 pounds, and then adding the trailer lounge weight. My trailer is supposed to handle up to 5000 pounds, but I don't think I'll ever have that kind of weight on the trailer. Maybe the Timbren could work. The other Firestone is better, but more complex to install. It does satisfy the load limit. Thanks for the response. I would have to find an installer for the Firestone product which would probably cost me up to near $1000! Edward Laughlin

@EdwardL what is the GVWR of the trailer? Tongue weight should be 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. If you don't really plan to load it to the max it will probably be fine. If you have cargo you typically carry you could always measure it with a tongue weight scale like # BTBRV27FR to be sure.

@RobinH I'll have to do some research and get back to you.
