Can You Store The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale On It's Side?
Updated 08/04/2025 | Published 07/31/2025 >
Question:
Im towing a 1965 Play-Mor Model 140 about 2000 lbs loaded with our 2020 Toyota Highlander AWD. It tows great, but I want to be sure I have the tongue weight right for safety. Ive now ruined a bathroom scale and finally accepted that its time to spend some money and buy the right tool for the job. Does the BTBRV27FR need to be stored upright, or can it be safely laid on its side? A lot of tongue weight scales like the Sherline stress making sure the scale isnt tipped over and it would be great not to have to worry about that.

Hey Jim,
The BTBRV Scale # BTBRV27FR like many out there is recommended to store standing up. Not saying that you cannot store it on its side, but for longevity and to be safe from damaging it I would recommend storing upright. What I have found easiest is finding an area to put it and seeing if there is a way to bungee chord it in. Besides that, this scale is going to make things a lot easier for you and your future bathroom scales.
That is a cool trailer though, I was actually thinking of getting one and fixing it up myself but ended up going with a new car that can't tow! How long have you had it?
