  • Replacement U-Bolt Kit, Leaf Springs, Bolts and Shackles for 68 Aristocrat Lo Liner Trailer
Installing the U-bolts and plate like that would be fine, but I would recommend putting the plate on the leaf springs and running the U-bolts around the axle instead. The good news is you're replacing them so you can make that change when you install them. Once you have your axle measurements we do have some kits you could use. If it is a 2" square axle the # CE23103 or for a 1-1/2" square axle the # CE23102. If it is 1-3/4" you will need the # 175130 along with the # 116308. Since you...

  • Can Unique Leaf Springs be Replaced on a Very Old Trailer
I believe the hubs are for 2,000 or 2,200 pound agricultural axles which is why the springs look so different. These hubs are designed for very low speed applications (5 to 10 miles per hour according to HADCO) so if you plan on going faster than that you will need to look at replacing the axle and hubs. You could use 2 of spring # e66SR. Each spring has a capacity of 1,250 pounds. If a new hanger kit is needed you can use # APS1. When used with spring e66SR the center to center distance...

  • U-Bolts for 1-3/4 Inch Square Axle
For a square axle that is 1.75" wide, you would want the Replacement U-Bolt with Nuts for 1-3/4" Wide, Square Trailer Axles # 175130 along with the U-Bolt Plate for 1-3/4" Square Trailer Axles with 1-3/4" Wide Springs # 116308. I have added links to video reviews of both products for you.

  • Can Round Trailer Axle be Replaced with Square Trailer Axle
Yes, you can replace a trailer's round axle with a square axle as long as the weight capacity is appropriate. You will need a new U-bolt kit to connect the axle: 1-1/2 inch square axles # CE23102 1-3/4 inch square axles # 175130 for the U-Bolts and # 116308 for the plate 2 inch square axles # CE23103

  • Replacing Inverted Leaf Spring Suspension on Old Utility Trailer
The first thing you will want to do is to remove the current springs from the frame and the axle. You can still use your axle if it is in good working order, but you will also want to remove any hardware welded to the axle. To install leaf springs, you will first want a hanger kit. For your single axle trailer, I recommend Redline's Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs # APS1. This hanger kit will have a 1-1/2 inch drop for the front hanger, and a 7/8 inch drop for the...

  • Replacing Slipper Springs on Magic Tilt B16W Boat Trailer
The best way to determine the length of the slipper spring you will need for your trailer is to measure the spacing, center to center, of the spring hangers. If this spacing is approximatley 23 inches, we have a couple of springs that can work well for you. If your spacing is different, feel free to let me know and I will see if we have a spring that will work for you. If your spring hanger spacing is 23 inches, a great replacement slipper spring is the SP-179275 4-Leaf Slipper Spring,...

  • Suspension Replacement For Stock Trailer With 26 Leaf Springs
To refurbish the suspension on your 1970 Champ Stock Trailer you will need a handful of items. For a suspension kit with equalizers order the etrailer # e99ZR kit including 2 standard steel equalizers where width is 7-3/4” from center of mounting hole to center of other mounting hole. Includes bolts and lock nuts sized for 1-3/4” wide springs. Suspension kit does not have the size shackle straps that you need so you will want to order 8 TruRyde # TRSL275 straps measuring 2-3/4” on center. For...

  • Bolt Hole to Bolt Hole Measurements for 2,000 lb Coupler for 2 Channel and 1-7/8 Hitch Ball
I took a look at each of the 2,000 lb trailer couplers that fit a 2" channel and connect to a 1-7/8" hitch ball, and none of them have bolt hole to bolt hole measurements of 1-1/4". The Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-2001-Z has a 2-1/4" on center measurements. The 1-1/4" bolt hole to bolt hole measurement you have is going to be too small for any of the current trailer couplers so what I strongly recommend is that you drill new holes which will allow you to use the coupler of your...

  • Switching From Slipper Springs to Double-Eye on a Single 2K Axle Trailer with Square Axle
To switch to double-eye spring suspension I recommend getting parts individually since the u-bolts cannot be swapped out of kits. The spring in the kit is # e84SR. We have a few different u-bolt kits for square axles including # CE23102 for 1-1/2 inch square axles. For a 1-3/4 inch square axles you can use u-bolt # 175130 and plate # 116308. And for 2 inch square axles we have # CE23103. You will also need a new hanger kit since double-eye springs use different hangers than slipper springs....

  • What Drill Bit Size to Use to Install Redline Replacement Trailer Axle U-Bolt with Nuts # 175130
Since the diameter size of the posts on this u-bolt is 9/16-inch you can ideally use a 9/16-inch or 5/8-inch bit (or even a 1/2-inch bit if you have the room to move the drill around enough to ream the hole to the required size). In either case you will want to ensure that the bits you are using are intended for drilling in the material on your trailer. Please refer to the photo provided which shows the dimensions of this item. Often it is easier to start a smaller-diameter pilot hole,...
