2-1/2" Diameter round. LED trailer light serves as either a side marker light or a clearance light. Built-in reflex reflector. Recessed mount with grommet (sold separately). Accepts 2-prong plug. P2 rated.

Specs:
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're going to take a look at the Peterson LED Clearance or Side Marker Light for your trailer. This is a built-in reflector so you don't have to worry about getting a separate one to maintain compliance out on the road. As you can see it's going to reflect really well there and keep us visible and safe even when the light isn't on. At the back we'll have this two-prong female end to accept our two-prong plug. Those are available separately. It just pushes in to the ports and gives you your wiring connection.Whenever you're initially pushing this in it's a little difficult.
The ports are split so you can get that to fit in. There we go. That snaps into place, turn on our power, and there's our little LED lighting up the way. Turn off the light here in the studio to give you a better idea of just how bright that is. So not super bright but we just need it to be bright enough to be compliant when we're out on the road so other people can see where we are, see that our brakes have come on if we have this wired up to our brakes or maybe our turn signal, anything else like that. This is DOT compliant, P2 rated, and made in the USA.
Our diameter is two and a half inches. The width is about seven eighths of an inch if we go from the back of the port to the front of our light. This kind of jelly material you see, that's dialectic grease. That helps to keep our terminals free of any dirt and debris and keep corrosion to a minimum. It just acts as a little kind of barrier against water, moisture, and other things like that.
We'll have that single diode there and we can grab a grommet to go with this. This is sold separately as well. You can find that here at etrailer.com using part number 142-18. Pop our light in there, provides a little shock protection for the light, has a hole at the back so our wiring can come through, and just kind of cleans it up, makes it look nice. Now this will fit into a three inch diameter hole.
It has some little flanges to hold it in place, and again, sold separately. You can find it here at etrailer.com.The nice thing about it being an LED light, no filaments that can break, no bulbs to worry about replacing. It's a much more efficient, longer-lasting light to have on your trailer for a long time to come. That's going to do it for our look at the Peterson LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light With Reflector.
