If you’re done swapping bulbs or dealing with dim lighting, this 2-1/2" round Piranha series light makes the upgrade easy. It uses 4 LEDs that last up to 50 times longer than incandescent bulbs while drawing only 0.08 amps at 12V. The red lens covers white LEDs that throw a bright, clean light and keep power use low. The SMD construction helps it handle vibration and heat better too, so it stays reliable for the long haul.
You won’t need a separate reflector with this light. It’s built right into the lens, giving you the function and safety of a reflex reflector without extra pieces or clutter on your trailer. It’s DOT compliant and P2 rated, so it meets lighting requirements while keeping everything looking neat and modern.
Shock and vibration are tough on regular bulbs, but the solid-state SMD design on this LED board shrugs that off. The compact 15/16" deep housing keeps it tucked in close while still giving off bright light. It’s built to resist wear from rough roads, hard use, and changing weather.
Installing this light is simple thanks to its recessed-mount setup. It fits with a grommet (part 142-18, sold separately) and accepts any standard 2-prong plug. If you’re replacing an old light, you can reuse the same opening; if it’s a new install, just cut a round hole or add a mounting bracket (sold separately). Once it’s in place, you get a clean, flush look that’s ready to wire and go.
With its P2 rating, this light puts out a controlled beam that covers 45 degrees to either side of center for a total of 90 degrees of visibility. That makes it ideal for use as either a clearance or side marker light—bright where it counts without unnecessary glare from other angles.

Today we're going to take a look at the Piranha LED clearance or side marker light with reflector. Now by having our reflector built into the lens of our light it eliminates the need to get a separate reflector for our trailer. You can see we can reflect that light back. So that's going to let people know that our trailer is there even when we don't have our light turned on. At the back we'll have our two female terminals to allow our two prong plug to get hooked up. These prongs are available separately.
The two wire pigtail is available separately. You can find that here at etrailer.com. Just push that into place, now we're all wired up and ready to go. Turn on our power, and you can see our four LEDs light up there. Those LEDs are going to be a lot longer lasting than your typical incandescent bulb.
They're going to be much brighter, and more efficient. It has less power draw for the same or more amount of light. You can see the nice, bright light of our four LEDs there. One, two, three, four. Clearly makes us visible out on the road, even at night.It's compatible with 12 volt DC systems.
Again, you can find these pigtails available here at etrailer.com. Pretty simple to use there, you just need to hook up power and ground. Our LED is on an SMD construction circuit board so it's better able to withstand the shock and vibration. Again, our LEDs are more efficient, and there's also no maintenance with these. There's never any filaments that can break so you don't really have to worry about any kind of changing out bulbs, or worrying about that.
It is P2 rated, and DOT compliant, and this is made in the USA. When it comes to size, it has a 2 1/2" diameter, and it's about 15/16 of an inch deep. If we go from those terminals to the front face of our light we're just under an inch.Our power draw at 12 volts is 0.08 amps, so very little power draw, and this has a 10 year limited warranty from Peterson's. Excuse me. You can also purchase a gramut to go with the light. It's going to add a little bit more protection for our light, gives you a little bit of cushion from any road shocks. You can also mount it up with this in a 3" diameter whole, since it has that lip there to hold it in place. The gramut is available using part number 142-18 here at etrailer.com, and that's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Piranha LED trailer clearance or side marker light with reflector.
