Light will work as an exact replacement for:
Grote # 47853-5
Optronics # MCL36AS
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Peterson Piranha LED clearance or side marker light with reflector. Now this is what our light looks like installed. As you can see, even in a bright room, those LED's really do shine. This is going to be a great replacement, or even a upgrade, from your traditional style incandescent light. It's going to be an upgrade because LEDs have no brittle filaments and you don't have to worry about them breaking and having to change bulbs. They're also going to last a lot longer and put off more light, all while using less power. Now, if you look at the back of the light, you can see how everything is enclosed.
We also have a stud here which is going to be used to mount the light and we do have plenty of wire to connect our ground and power wire. What's nice about the ground wire is it already has a ring terminal on the end, so if you don't want to mount it to a different location, you can simply put it over the stud and ground it that way, and then mount the light to the trailer frame. Inside of the light you can see how everything is enclosed. That'll help keep it protected from the elements. To help you determine if this light will work with your application, we're going to give you a few measurements.
From end to end it's going to be three and one eighths of an inch long. From top to bottom it's going to be two inches tall. As far as the thickness or the depth of the light it's going to be 15/16ths of an inch. Now that we went over some of the features, I'll show you just how easy it is to get this light installed. We're going to start by removing the hardware off of our stud. Now some applications may be a little bit different on where you mount it, but in our situation we already have a hole pre-drilled here to run our stud and our wiring through, so that's exactly what we're going to do.
Feed our wiring through and pull it flat against the trailer. In the back side what we're going to do is to actually take our ground wire, put it over the stud and we'll take our lock washer and finally our nut. Go ahead and run that down, then we can grab our socket just to fully tighten it. Next we can focus on hooking up our light's power wire through our trailer power wire. We're going to accomplish that by using a heat shrink butt connector.
If you need some of these you can find them on etrailer.com. We'll just slide one in over the wire, then we'll clamp it down. Then we'll grab the power wire from our trailer, put in the other end, do the same thing. Now with our heat gun we can heat up our heat shrink to make a nice seal. Now with everything connected you can pull out the slack and secure everything up out of the way so it doesn't get damaged. Now with everything hooked up we can put some power to it to make sure it's working properly. Once you've verified it's working properly and you have more than one of these lights, you can just repeat that process for the other side. And that'll do it for a look at and installation of the Peterson Piranha clearance or side marker light with reflector.

Not sure its anyones fault but the LED marker lights on my trailer fasten to the wall with screws and today that style is not made as it was in 2017...So i am rating the lights "average" cause till i open the light up without busting it I got to make it work and your lights are just the same as the rest...lights look fine and i will let you know how it works out...
Order 2 of theses paid extra for shipping , and they don't match each other dame part number , tried to return them wad going to cost me more thank just keeping the wrong parts does not match pictures on website
Exact replacement for my trailer. The factory incandescent bulbs had faded and connections were failing. With a quick inspection with a multi meter I found that all the lamp bases checked out.
I installed this Amber and Red marker lamps through out the whole trailer. I now “glow” going down the road at night. I highly recommend these replacement lamps.
Better than the ones that came with the trailer.
I think etrailer should have sent plugs with lights!
