Recommended Replacement Lights for a 2001 Ranger Boat Trailer

Updated 08/06/2026 | Published 07/28/2026

Question:

I have a 2001 Ranger R93 boat trailer that I need replacement trailer lights for. I have seen that one site recommended TLL160RK. I don't need the license plate light on the drivers side. Can you not use those lights have separate wire or cover bottom with electrical tape. My trailer has lights for license plate in the frame. Or do you recommended a different product.

Hey James, welcome back! For your 2001 Ranger R93 boat trailer, I would recommend the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights item # TLL160RK. These are 8-1/16" long x 2-7/8" tall x 2-13/16" deep LED lights that are super reliable and commonly used as replacements.

The license plate light doesn't have to be covered up on the bottom of the Optronics Tail Lights item # TLL160RK. You can use electrical tape if you want though. Not sure how long it'll last going in and out of the water. The tape won't hurt anything. So long as your license plate is lit up you won't have an issue.

What kind of boat do you have?

I agree with Jerred. One thing I can add is I have them on my Rocket trailer pulling a 23' Sportsman Center console and the lights hold up real well in salt water

@BobW Thanks Bob! That's a super nice boat! I hope you get to use it a bunch. That's some great feedback about the salt water as well. It's super helpful to hear about your experience.
