I ordered several different trailer parts from etrailer and the service is good so I won’t order from anyone else. The product is always right

by:

I received the product and installed it on my dump trailer. Parts fit perfectly and were as described on your site.
Thank You

by:

So far good. Haven't got to pull it still full of equipment for winter storage easy to install with all new parts exactly right parts. The girl took order very polite knew the parts an how to measure my stuffto get right parts price good.

by:

Bought a used car trailer in need of repair, sand blasted and painted the trailer. While working on it more and more things needed to be replaced. This hanger kit was a great match. Thank you etrailer.

by:

Rec'd item quickly along with new wheels I purchased. Items were packed very well. I installed my new wheels, tires, and equalizer kit the following weekend and my trailer was ready to go.

by:

Purchased this item before. Great price and wonderful shipping. Will purchase from Etrailer in near future.

by:

The kit was a direct replacement no issues with the installation

by:

The trailer leaf spring kit was exactly the right fit for my trailer and has put us safely back on the road. etrailer helped me pick the right size and understand the options. What I received was a match for my need as my parts were completely trashed. This kit along with the bushings/sleeves made the repair quick and easy at a great price. I am glad that etrailer has knowledgeable folks available to talk through questions and take the guess work out of the purchase.

by:

Great price and fast shipping. Everything fit perfectly!!!

by:

This was my first first order with etrailer and found them to be very good to work with. I had questions along the way which were handled expeditiously and resulted in ordering the right parts, which were a perfect fit with my old trailer. Product packaging was fine and the turnaround was fast.
If I was to offer a suggestion, it would be to include some instructions regarding proper lubrication techniques - location and type of lube they'd recommend.

Comments
Michael, you could lubricate the bushings if you want to with a multi-purpose grease, but the nylon bushings dont necessarily require lubrication, so there isnt a particular technique. We offer wet bolts that have a grease zerk on them to pump grease through, but other than that, the nylon bushings are designed to provide smooth operation until they wear down to a point where they should be replaced.

The parts I bought from you to repair the suspension on our livestocktrailer did the trick of getting it roadworthy. We dont use it often, butthe couple times weve had it on the road since the repairs have beenuneventful and thats a good thing when you have a couple tons of beef onit.

The diagram that is shown below has incorrect dimensions. After all the hangers were mocked up as the given dimensions show the axle center to center distance was 29" not 30". I actually over looked double checking the center to center measurement and had to cut the center and back hangers off and will be moving them.

by:

Everything has held up nicely. Been on the trailer for a year.

by:

fit great no problems, seems to be a good quality product, will be able to tell in 10 K miles

by:

good axle hangers, fit perfectly, No problems at all. I've bought 2 sets so far. like everything else at etrailer ( it's always right, not broken, fast shipping, great support ). I will continue to buy from etrailer. thumbs up like always

by:

Re did my pontoon trailer and it is nice to know they are good for another 30 years of service.

by:

Everything was excellent as usual. Our 8th trailer rebuilt your kits.

by:

They work excellent! The trailer is so much tighter.
When it is empty, you can't even feel it behind me. Except the noise from the ramps.
I also have to thank my buddy Rob, he put a lot of time and labor into getting the trailer in like new condition.
Sorry don't have photos at the moment.

by:

My tandem axle equalizer kit, is of the highest quality. All the parts and hardware well made and will last for years to come. The combination of the knurled bolts and locking nut give me the piece of mind, that none of the hardware will back out and come off, on the highway. I would highly recommend this kit.

by:

Parts look good but the bolts were too long and left the shackles with too much play side to side.

by:

Hi George,
The trailer axel hanger kit
that I purchased from you folks worked great!
The bushings were shot in the old ones and the new kit installed easily and solved the problem. Trailer tows like a dream. I will do business with you again if I need parts!
Thank You
Terry L

by:

Bought and installed this rebuild kit on a 10 ft. horse trailer turned utility nearly a year ago. Trailer still pulls and rides like brand new after being abused almost daily.
Very pleased with the quality of parts included, and the detailed measurements given in the product descriptions. etrailer is where I will continue to look first for parts.

by:

These were an exact replacement for my old trailer and have performed well the past year!

Comments
They are still performing but are very rusty. I should have put my own paint on them to prolong their life.

by:

They where exactly as needed and described. Fit like a charm

by:

Product was exactly as shown. Quality appears fine. Product shipped quickly and was delivered on time as promised. Michelle S. wen out of her way to get order processed as quickly as possible so we would get it when we needed it at the most affordable delivery price. This is our first order with etrailer.com and we will definately use them again.

  • Tandem Axle Suspension Kit Recommendation that Uses 6-1/4 inch Long Equalizers
We have a kit that uses equalizers that are 6-1/4 inches in length. For that you would want part # APT4. This leaf-spring mounting kit includes 3-1/4" tall front hangers, 5-7/16" tall center hangers, 3-1/4" tall rear hangers and necessary hardware.

  • Axle to Frame Height Difference Between Tandem Axle Hanger Kits # APT3 and # APT5
We don't have CAD drawings we can give out for our hanger kits but I can help give you info to help you determine what the height of your axles relative to your trailer frame would be with each kit. With the part # APT5 it will give you approximately 4-1/2 inch to 5 inch of clearance and the part # APT3 will give you approximately 3-1/2 inch to 3-3/4 inch.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Suspension that Shackle and Equalizer Flip Over
First thing you want to do is verify that you are using the correct dimensions for your hanger spacing on your trailer. The distance between the center hanger and either of the outside hangers should be right at 29-1/2 inches. There should be at least 3-1/2 inches from the center of the axle o the trailer frame. Also, you need to make sure your trailer is being towed level. If your trailer is nose high or low that can cause the suspension of a tandem axle trailer to be unbalanced. I attached...

You can convert a single axle trailer to a tandem axle but it's more extensive than just putting the extra axle on there. The current axle does need to be repositioned for proper tongue weight. You will also need to cut off the current hangers since the hanger spacing will not be the same. I've attached a chart that you can use to determine the axle placement. • Why Do Trailer Hanger/Equalizer Kits all Use Different Height Suspension Hangers
When the suspension hangers, equalizers, and shackles are installed from a kit like the part # APT3 the goal is to have the leaf spring as level as possible. The different height hangers is offset by the height of the equalizer and shackles so that when it's all said and down everything is at a level height. Check out the picture I attached of a kit like this installed to get an idea. The great thing about these kits is that the correct height of everything is already all worked out.

  • What is the Torque Spec Rating for 9/16 Inch Diameter Shackle Bolts
There is not a specific torque spec for shackle bolts including the ones in the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit part # APT3. They need to be secure but if they are too tight then the leaf springs will bind and cause problems in your trailer's suspension. The lock nuts included with the kit will ensure the bolts do not fall out. I recommend tightening the nuts until they makes contact with the shackle strap and then add another 1/4 turn. This should give you the right amount of torque needed...

You'll want the shackle hanging at a slight angle so that it doesn't want to flip upside down at any point. If it's totally vertical it will want to flip over much easier. • Why is Center Hanger Longer for Tandem Axle Trailer Hanger Kit
The center hangers in the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT8 that you recently purchased are indeed longer. This is actually pretty common for tandem axle trailers. The reason for the extra length on the middle hanger is related to the shackle straps of the equalizer. • Why are Trailer Center Hangers of Tandem Axle Hanger Kits Longer
The longer hangers are the center hangers. The reason they are longer than the end hangers is because the shackle straps of the equalizer. It is somewhat hard to explain, but the longer center hanger is to compensate for how the shackle straps move the spring up higher. Check out the picture I attached for more info. Hopefully that explains it better. Leaf springs typically can only travel a few inches. So you won't gain much travel by going with longer hangers.
