Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This isn't the first time I've dealt with etrailer, and it certainly won't be the last! They are incredibly fast at filling orders and always get the shipment right the first time. This time I even received a personal email from George assuring me that he had filled and shipped my order. I bought a tow receiver for my 2010 Honda. It fit perfectly and was easy to install. How great is that?!! Great prices, great quality products, and great service.... I'll be back for more.

by:

2009 Honda CR-V

not a 30 minute job for meThe installation of this hitch on my 2009 Honda CRV was not a 30 minute job - more like 1.5 hr. It does not require drilling but it does require a rat tail file to open up notch in the frame hole about 1/8 in. I could not file the notch or get the spacer (item 2) into the hole without removing the muffler. It is quite easy to remove the muffler (if the two bolts are not to rusty) and have complete access.

by:

EZ installationpiece of cake to put on, easiest aftermarket item I ever installed. to widen the holes in the frame, I used a deburring tool and put it in my Milwaukee right angle drill. so simple, perfect fit too
proud to be an American and do business with great American companies like you folks. thankx

by:

great service saves a headachefolks,
thanks for saving me time and headaches by recommending the proper hitch and bike rack. I originally ordered the incorrect combination....most stores would have sent them out......not you......great customer service and prices.......thanks again.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on 2009 Honda CR-V
The three Class I trailer hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2009 Honda CR-V all feature an almost identical design and they will all install at the same location on the vehicle's frame. All three hitches have the same 200 pound tongue weight capacity and will provide you with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. Between these options, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24792. This is simply because unlike Curt, Draw-Tite does not require the use of...

  • Trailer Hitch Weight for a 2011 Honda CR-V
I'd be happy to help! All of the hitches for your 2011 Honda CR-V weigh relatively the same when it comes to the different classes, and while the Class I hitches definitely weight lighter I recommend using a Class III hitch since they have a 2" receiver and can handle a wider variety of accessories. Out of the hitches listed below I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75547 since it's a Class III hitch with a weight of about 27 lbs. Here are the rest of the hitches: Class I Draw-Tite -...

  • Difference Between Square and Round Tube Trailer Hitches for 2010 Honda CR-V
There are both Class I and Class III trailer hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2010 Honda CR-V. The available Class I hitches, such as the Draw-Tite Sport Frame # 24792, feature a square tube design, while the Class III hitches like the Draw-Tite # 75547 have a round crosstube. This crosstube shape may appear to indicate the hitch's strength, as they differ between the two classes, but the design is typically only relevant to the physical appearance of the hitch. A round...

  • Bike Carrying Options for 2011 Honda CR-V
For exactly the reason you stated, Thule states that none of their trunk mounted racks will work with your 2011 Honda CR-V. Yakima states a few of their trunk-mount racks will fit. Occasionally, we will have one manufacturer state that the vehicle is compatible with a trunk mount rack, and the other will say that it is not. In that case, I typically do not recommend using a trunk mount. Installing a hitch and using a hitch-mounted bike rack would be your best bet. If you were only wanting...

  • The Right Bike Rack for a Class I Hitch on a 2007 Honda CR-V
The difference between classes is how much weight each can carry. A Class II bike rack is rated to hold more weight and you run the risk of overloading a Class I hitch. Also, Class I receivers physically will not except a higher class item. They are not designed to fit together. You could install a Class III hitch such as the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75547. With this Class III hitch you could use any of our bike carriers. We have many popular bike racks that will fit a class I hitch...

  • What Parts Can I Use to Adapt a 2 Inch Bike Rack to a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch for a Honda CR-V
You can use a 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter like part # HTAD, however, this will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. Draw-Tite hitch, part # 24792 has a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. If you were to use an adapter like # HTAD, your capacity would be 100 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes must be 100 pounds or less. If the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle is less than 200 pounds, take 50 percent of that number. Your vehicle towing capacities...

  • Replacement Drawbar Recommendation for a 2005 Honda CR-V with a Draw-Tite # 24792
I went out into our warehouse and measured the distance from the center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank on the Draw-Tite Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000 lb Kit, part # 3592, and found that it is 1-9/16 inches. I then pulled a Draw Tite Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000# Kit, part # 3593, and found that it also shares the same measurement of 1-9/16 inches from center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank. The Kuat Beta Folding 2-Bike Rack # B202-114 is designed to fit 1-1/4-inch hitches such as Draw-Tite Class I hitch # 24792. Since your 2009 Honda CR-V could be equipped with this type hitch OR a higher-capacity 2-inch Class III type, you'll just want to make sure of the hitch size you have. First, you are going to need a trailer hitch if you do not already have one on your 2009 Honda CR-V. You can use the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24792. This is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. For a Class I compatible bike rack that holds 2 bikes and is easy to install and use I recommend the Kuat Beta, # B202-114. • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2015 Honda CR-V
For your 2015 Honda CR-V I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75742 because it has a 2 inch receiver that is compatible with many different bike racks. It is the most popular hitch for the 2015 Honda CR-V. If you do not have a bike rack in mind already I can make some recommendations. I recommend the Kuat Transfer 3 # KU24FR. This rack is very popular because of the U-shaped design which makes it easy to load and unload bikes and because of the useful features such as the tilting mechanism....

  • What Parts are Included with Hitch 24792 and What 1-7/8 Inch Ball Will Fit
The Draw-Tite, part # 24792, is a 1-1/4 inch hitch opening. You will need draw bar part # 3593 and must only be used in the rise position on your CR-V. The draw bar has a 3/4 inch shank diameter so you could use part # 19256 as your ball. Using these parts, your maximum tongue weight is 200 pounds and maximum trailer weight is 2,000 pounds. If your CR-V has lower ratings, you must abide by those. I have included a link to the instructions for the hitch and draw bar.

For your 2008 Honda CR-V I instead recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75547 due to it having a 2x2 receiver that will give you more options for accessories than a 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 receiver, and having a higher tongue weight and trailer weight rating than the other trailer hitch receivers for your vehicle. I assume the Draw-Tite trailer hitch that you are referencing is part # 24792, which is the Class I hitch by Draw-Tite for the 2002 Honda CR-V. If this is the case, then this trailer hitch will work with any hitch mounted bike rack that was designed to fit a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch shank. • Why are the Trailer Hitches for a 2004 Honda CR-V Rated for More Weight than the Vehicle
It's true, Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24792, as well as the other hitch options for the 2004 Honda CR-V, exceed the capacity of the vehicle. All that means is that the hitches have those ratings, but you are still limited to the capacities of the vehicle since it is rated lower. The reciprocal would also be true: if the vehicle was rated higher than the hitch you would go by the hitch rating since it is lower. The reason there are 2 inch hitches available for this vehicle is demand. The...
