Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Honda CR-V

Today on this 2007 Honda CR-V we are going to install part number 60869 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to Draw-Tite part number 24792. This is what the hitch looks like when it installed on the vehicle. Next we will give you some measurements that will help you out on ing some accessories. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground on this particular vehicle is going to be 13 inches and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 5-3/4 inches.0:25

Now we will go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing we need do is go ahead and work with the exhaust so we can lower it to get to one of our access points. So all we have to do is remove the two rubber hangers that are closest to the tailpipe. Now we are just going to use a pry bar and just pry them off. Well let us go ahead and just lower it out of the way and then you can see our attachment point is will be right here. We are looking at the passenger side. It is going to be the same thing on the driver side and it also uses the center tie down loop as an attachment point also. 0:52

We will move over to the driver side frame wheel to show you how to install the hardware. It is a little bit easier to see. Now our block has to be installed in the frame and be sitting like this. This is our only access hole so what we got to do is put a notch in one side of the hole so we can slide our hardware into it. You can use a chisel and make a notch in there just anything enough to get the block in there. It will not take much. To install our hardware we are going to take our block and our 7/16-bolt and our bolt leader and we are going to thread them all together. Okay we are going to take the bolt push it up into the frame. And then our block and push it up to the frame and pull it all back through. We are finished with the driver side. We will go ahead and do the same thing on the passenger side. 1:36

We can go ahead and start installing the hitch. We will take the passenger side and just lay it on the exhaust. We will push the driver side up into position. We will grab a 7/16 nut and a conical-tooth washer. Now we will want to leave it loose so we have flexibility for the rest of our fasteners. Alright now we are going to tow loop attachment. Now you definitely want your hitch as loose as possible to install this because tow loops on the vehicles are not always welded in the exact same spot. We will take our block and our bolt and we will go through tow loop. And between the hitch bracket here and a tow loop we will get these two blocks. On the back side we will put our conical-tooth washer and our 1/2 inch nut. Alright at this point if all our hardware installed we can go ahead and snug all the bolts down and then torque them down as specified in instructions. And when you do this fastener here make sure the block covers both sides of the tow loop. Now you can go ahead reattach the hangers to our exhaust. And with that we are finished with our install. And there you have it for part number 60869 from Hidden Hitch.

This trailer hitch fits my 2009 Honda CRV perfectly. I had it installed at a local auto shop and they had no issues doing so. It arrived quickly and with no issues. 420049

Greetings, My experience in purchasing a hitch for a bike rack from etrailer was much better than ever expected. First, the price was significantly lower than one offered by a major retail company. The employee at etrailer with whom I dealt was not only pleasant and helpful, but she expedited the shipping date by two days. When the hitch was installed on our vehicle the total savings including labor was almost $100.00. Can't beat that! 556463

Installed this on my 2008 CRV. The install was no walk in the park but the videos helped tremendously. Don't skimp on the WD40 when unhooking the tailpipe hanger! Anyway, got it done and it works beautifully. I use it with a bike carrier and to tow a small tent camper actually designed to be towed by a motorcycle. 472924

Awesome Trailer Hitch. Assembled on my 2009 Honda CRV just as the video and instructions illustrated. A little advice though; 1) utilize a helper if available. Just to have an extra hand does wonders. I did mine all by myself in my garage on a sunny afternoon a couple of weeks ago. I probably would of saved about 1/2 hour if I had a helper. 2) Go to Advanced Auto Parts or other type of parts store and buy the assorted pack of panel clips/buttons. Reason being is that when removing the panel in the right rear of the CRV the panel buttons may break. They are only cheap plastic. No big deal to replace. Other than that, I am ecstatic that I saved over $200.00 doing this job myself. It took me approximately 21/2 hours by myself. One cold beer, a nice dominican cigar, what more can you ask for. Calling around locally for parts and labor, they wanted just over $400.00 plus tax to do this job. THANK YOU E-TRAILER! for showing us how to do this and providing the equipment at a very fair price. I will always keep you guys in mind. God Bless. Randy Hastings in NY. 39557

2010 Honda Insight

This trailer hitch was shipped by eTrailer with an expedited shipment at their own cost (thank you) and arrived packaged well to prevent sipping damage. The hitch fit perfectly on my 2010 Honda CRV and all hardware was adequate to secure it to the frame of the vehicle. I viewed the video that was a link from their website to gain valuable insight for easy installation. It was a little difficult holding the hitch up in the air while trying to thread a nut onto a bolt that had no back pressure, but I was finally able to get it done. Took about 1.5 hours to complete. 444489

This hitch has quality control issues. The center tab which bolts to the vehicle was welded on incorrectly to allow the bolt to pass through. I ended up not being able to install it. I called etrailer and they shipped out another hitch. Now I have to wait and see if this one has the same problem. If it does I will switch to Curtis. 607848

Cutting a slot in the chassis hole to accommodate the mounting bolt backing plate was not as easy as the video shows. If you are a regular joe without a car lift and shop tools, it is harder. I used a rotary tool with a cutting blade to cut the notch. Otherwise the installation went well. I bought this model since I was only going to use it for a bicycle rack. I think the class 3 hitch would actually be easier to install since it uses nuts already welded into the frame. The hitch itself was well made. Very happy with it. 738284

Great little hitch. The install on a 2008 Honda CRV was easy because of the instructions and the install video. The total install time was about an hour, including the setup and installation of a Swagman rack. Also, I installed the additional Swagman anti-wobble hitch pin. The entire setup was fun to install and gets the job done. 569223

Lightweight but serves the purpose - just attached a bikerack. Only reason I didn't give it 5 was because the bolts are a bit short - only have a couple threads visible once tightened. Ideally I'd also tow a light pop up camper but before doing that would replace the bolts with longer and high tensile. 452264

  • Difference Between Square and Round Tube Trailer Hitches for 2010 Honda CR-V
There are both Class I and Class III trailer hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2010 Honda CR-V. The available Class I hitches, such as the Draw-Tite Sport Frame # 24792, feature a square tube design, while the Class III hitches like the Draw-Tite # 75547 have a round crosstube. This crosstube shape may appear to indicate the hitch's strength, as they differ between the two classes, but the design is typically only relevant to the physical appearance of the hitch. A round...

  • Trailer Hitch and 5-Way Wiring Harness for Towing a Jon Boat with a 2007 Honda CR-V
If all you plan on towing is the boat and trailer then 200 pound tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity of the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24792 that you have referenced would be a good choice. Check the owners manual on your CR-V because I believe that the towing capacity of the vehicle is 1,500 pounds and it is important that you stay under that. The correct ball mount for this hitch is # 3592. For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball use # 19256. And if you ever...

  • The Right Bike Rack for a Class I Hitch on a 2007 Honda CR-V
The difference between classes is how much weight each can carry. A Class II bike rack is rated to hold more weight and you run the risk of overloading a Class I hitch. Also, Class I receivers physically will not except a higher class item. They are not designed to fit together. You could install a Class III hitch such as the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75547. With this Class III hitch you could use any of our bike carriers. We have many popular bike racks that will fit a class I hitch...

The Swagman XTC-2 2-bike platform style rack # S64670 that you referenced will work with either of these two types of hitch. On the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch, # 24792, for the 2008 Honda CR-V, you will need # 3592. On a Class I trailer hitch you can only use the ball mount that is recommended for the hitch, because it will have the correct rise or drop needed to tow a trailer properly for that particular vehicle. Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 3592, has to be used only in the rise position. The rise on this ball mount is 2-1/8 inches. The hitch height on the # 24792 hitch on your vehicle is 12-7/8 inches...
