Expert Reply:
You can use a 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter like part # HTAD, however, this will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. Draw-Tite hitch, part # 24792 has a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. If you were to use an adapter like # HTAD, your capacity would be 100 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes must be 100 pounds or less. If the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle is less than 200 pounds, take 50 percent of that number. Your vehicle towing capacities can be found in the vehicle owner manual. I have attached a review video of the # HTAD below for you to check out.
If it is a possibility, I would suggest getting a 2 inch, Class III, receiver for you Honda CR-V. There are many more options when it comes to bike racks and cargo carriers for 2 inch hitches, not too mention the larger towing capacities. Curt offers Class III hitches for several models of the CR-V. If you have a 2002-2006 you could use part # 13535 or if you have a 1997 you could use part # 13314. I have attached installation instructions and an installation video below for you to check out.
