Question:
Have a 07 Honda CRv. Like the Drawtite class I hitch but notice many bike racks need a class 2 or 3 . Why is this and what problems might I see if I get a class I compatable rack vs class II. Want the sportrack escape 3 but says needs class 2 hitch.

The difference between classes is how much weight each can carry. A Class II bike rack is rated to hold more weight and you run the risk of overloading a Class I hitch. Also, Class I receivers physically will not except a higher class item. They are not designed to fit together.
You could install a Class III hitch such as the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75547. With this Class III hitch you could use any of our bike carriers.
We have many popular bike racks that will fit a class I hitch such as the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24792. I have included an installation video and instructions for this hitch below.
The Swagman XC 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch Trailer Hitches - Wheel Mount # S64650 is a popular item because it has ratcheting frame hooks for easy use and it is compatible with a class I hitch.
