Most e bikes are up at 80lbs.
Yakima
has been in the game for a long time and this unit is built like a tank.
The unit is heavy, but it speaks for itself.
If you are traveling any distance this is the most stable unit I have owned.

Excellent product. Well made.

I haven't had an opportunity to use my purchase as of yet, but working with etrailer merits the 5 star rating. I ordered my bike rack on Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving and it was delivered on Saturday. Fantastic turn around time. Couldn't ask for more than that.

by:

The rack was very simple to assemble and install on my 2023 Hyundi Palisade. The ramp makes it so much easier to load my Electra cruiser bike. I have ordered an electric bike from EBC, and I can't wait to try loading it. I will try to follow up when I get the new bike and use the rack some more.

I'm very happy.

by:

Easy to install and load bikes. Very sturdy and smooth operation

by:

Set up was a breeze. Light weight and bikes fit perfectly.

by:

Very durable piece of equipment. Only had it for a few days but getting ready for a 2,000 mile road trip

I did like almost everything about this rack. I was shopping for a rack that would hold two e-bike and was approved for use on a bumper pull travel trailer. First the sales representative at eTrailer was excellent in verifying the mounting on out trailer. The order process was quick and smooth with no issues. My order was shipped the same day that it was ordered. I was shocked at how fast the carrier was delivered, two days after it was ordered. To put the carrier together was basically one bolt. The weight was not a problem to get into the receiver on our trailer. The next was to mount the bikes to the carrier itself. The Ramp worked well with the 70 pound e-bike. Adjusting the was a bit of an issue. With how the hold down straps are mounted you have to adjust the sliding rails to fit the wheel base of your bike. When I had both of my e-bike mounted correctly the wheel only had about an inch and a half of the trie on the rail it self. I have Searched for rail extenders but have not been able to find any. Looking at my photos you will see that they need to be about 4 to 5 inches longer. Once strapped in they are secure at least while the trailer is not moving. I plan to make some extensions for poly carbonate.

Looks like it will work great!

by:

Mounted on Escalade, ramp is quite steep, tough for 80 pound bike and must be on level ground or ramp may not reach ground. Other than that the rack works well.

by:

Product arrived promptly and in quality packaging. Assembly instructions were clear and concise. Put the Yakama rack together in about 20 minutes. I am very happy with the heavy duty construction of the rack. I have two Aventon Aventure 2 e-bikes that weigh over 70 lbs. The rack handles the load great.

by:

I used all of etrailer's videos to help me decide on the best rack for my needs. This will work great for me because our bikes both have fenders and we will only be transporting the same two bikes. Plus it is strong enough for an RV and a cover which is important to us.

Ordered the Yakima OnRamp LX to carry our 2 Electric bikes on the back of our Bronco Sport. It is a little complicated to get set up, (guys don't like to read directions - but that's what wives are for I guess) Once it was all put together though it worked great. Will be a good addition for our trips with the bike. Also wanted to give a big THANK YOU to the folks at Etrailer!! I had an assembly question and they were very helpful and answered it quickly. Looking forward to the ride.

  • What Bike Rack with a Ramp Should I Get For My 2024 Aventon Step Through E-Bike?
Hello Karla, Wow, that is a really nice e-bike! I do not blame you for wanting a ramp for your e-bike, just because you can lift your bike doesn't mean that you should. For your 2024 Aventon A-Level 2 step through Commuter E-bike I recommend the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y88DJ. What I really like about this rack is how the padded clamp is able to maneuver in all directions making it very easy to clamp onto the bike, it really is the reason...

  • Recommendation For Carrying a Aventon Level 2 E-Bike Behind a 2013 Scion xB
I do see your Aventon Level 2 bike has a weight of 54lbs. Since you are using the Curt Receiver # C12490 on your 2013 Scion xB and being a 1-1/4" receiver I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y28DJ as it can support bikes up to 66lbs each and has a ramp for ease loading. Using an Adapter # e43YR with the Rack # HLY66ZR not only moves it further back causing more of a lever effect on the weight but do remember the extra length is also going to have an effect on the departure angle which means...

  • Comparing the Yakima OnRamp and OnRamp LX Bike Racks
Great question, Rondi! The Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR is the first generation while the Yakima OnRamp LX # Y28DJ is the second generation of this rack. The LX has slightly higher weight ratings (70 lbs per bike on road and 42 off-road), the trays are upgraded to be easier to adjust and hold the tires better, and then the LX has provisions for the License Plate and Tail Light Relocation Kit # Y74VR. I do recommend picking up the Yakima LockUp Hitch Lock and Cable Lock # Y07238 though because...

  • RV Approved E-Bike Rack that Can Fit 1-1/4 inch Hitch
Hey Patti, so the problem with hitch adapters is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent which is not ideal for the 1-1/4 inch hitch size that normally has lower capacities. So what that means is that using a hitch adapter with an e-bike rack at the rear of an RV is a pretty bad idea and you'd be best served with an e-bike rack that is RV approved and also designed for your hitch size like the Yakima OnRamp par # Y28DJ that you referenced.

  • Does Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack Work With Step-Thru Ebikes
It does! If you take a look at the accompanying photo that one of our customers sent in, you can see step-thru ebikes being carried by the OnRamp bike rack, which is available for either a 2" or 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver: - 2" Hitch: Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # Y28DJ - 1-1/4" Hitch: Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # Y88DJ The OnRamp uses wheel straps along with adjustable clamps that grasp the bikes by the frame or seat post to secure them, which is...

  • Recommended Easiest Bike Rack to Load a Heavy E-Bike
Yes, we do Bob! I recommend the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack item # Y88DJ if you have a 2" hitch or item # Y28DJ if you have a 1-14" hitch. The OnRamp bike racks have plenty of capacity for your 52 lbs electric bike. These racks also have a built in ramp that makes loading your bikes extremely easy. I have linked a picture below that will show you the ease of using this ramp.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Gazelle Step-Thru E-Bikes
Thanks for the pictures! The best bike rack for your Gazelle Step-Thru E-Bikes is going to be the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y28DJ. Neither one of the bike racks you referenced will work with fenders or be capable of handling the weight. The Yakima OnRamp has a 66 lbs capacity per bike. It has clamps that can rotate and fit around your bike's alternative frame and hold it in place. So don't worry about not having a top tube. One of the best features of this bike rack is the ramp that...

  • Yakima OnRamp or Thule EasyFold XT For Fat Tire Electric Bikes
The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches # Y28DJ or 2" Hitches # Y88DJ does not require added straps for fat tires, as they are able to fit tires up to 5" wide, though the Thule EasyFold XT - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH903202 require additional straps for fat tires, and here is what you'd need: - Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 - Fat Bike Straps for Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH985101 While both come with an integrated ramp, the EasyFold XT offers a...

  • Will Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack Work With Lowstep EBike
First, thanks so much for the nice words, they are really appreciated. And I have good news for you as your Trek Verve+2 Lowstep bike is absolutely compatible with the OnRamp, which is the following part number, depending on if you have a 1-1/4" hitch or 2" hitch: - Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y88DJ - Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches # Y28DJ The reason why the OnRamp will work for you is because its clamps can secure...

  • Does The Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack Work With Step Thru Bikes?
Hello Pamela. Yes, the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack # Y28DJ will indeed work with step thru bikes. The OnRamp secures your bike using wheel straps on the platform along with adjustable clamps for attaching to the frame of the bike. The clamps can attach to the seat post, which is what makes it compatible with step thru frames. The OnRamp LX is the new version of the Yakima OnRamp. The new version has a few upgrades, most notably a 70 lb per bike capacity. The ramp attachment is super convenient...

  • What is Weight Capacity of Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack
Hey Makayla, the weight capacity for the Yakima OnRamp part # Y28DJ that you referenced is 70 lb per bike regardless of how many bikes are loaded as the bike trays and frame clamps are all only rated to 70 lbs as well. If you needed a higher weight capacity though we have the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HLY84FR which is rated for up to 80 lbs per bike.

  • 2018 Honda CR-V Compatibility with Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack
Thanks for reaching out, Barbara! The Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack # Y28DJ is a great new addition to the Yakima lineup of bike rack and I'm excited to see people asking about it! Here are the answers to your questions: 1. Yes, you can mix and match bike styles on this rack. 2. The brake lights should still be visible (this is really dependent on the bikes), but your bike tires will likely be in the way so I would consider them partly visible. You can use the Light Kit # Y74VR to keep your...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a Class II Hitch and Fat Tire E-Bikes
Anna, if you're referring to the OnRamp then there used to be a set of longer straps Yakima offered for fatter tires, but they've since been discontinued, unfortunately. Since it sounds like your tires are exceeding the max limit the rack can handle, then I'd suggest looking toward an upgrade like the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY10007-05 which can handle up to 5" wide tires. This rack will also work with 1 1/4" receivers, has a 60 lb per bike capacity, and a...
