Features to know about

Effortless Loading for Heavy E-Bikes: Integrated 51" Ramp

Lifting a 70-lb e-bike can be tough, but the built-in 51" ramp on the Yakima OnRamp LX makes it simple. Just roll each bike up the ramp and onto the trays—no heavy lifting needed. When you’re done, the ramp stores neatly behind the trays so it’s always with you and never in the way.

Secure Hold for Any Frame: Adjustable Padded Clamps

Whether you ride a step-through, low-step, or traditional frame, the OnRamp LX locks it down securely. The padded clamps adjust up, down, and side to side to grip the frame or seat post without scratching. Paired with ratcheting wheel straps and sliding trays that fit wheelbases up to 50", every bike stays steady mile after mile.

Access On the Go: Tilts and Folds with Ease

Getting to your cargo area shouldn’t mean unloading bikes. A rear-mounted spring pin lets the rack tilt back with both bikes loaded, giving quick access to gear. When not in use, the whole rack folds up tight to save space. It’s a clean, functional setup that keeps your ride ready for everyday use.

Strong, Quiet, and Road-Ready: 70-lb Capacity Per Bike

Built from durable steel with a black powder-coat finish, the OnRamp LX is rated for 1-1/4" Class II hitches and carries two bikes up to 70 lbs each. The anti-rattle hitch pin keeps the rack steady and quiet on the road, while the Same Key System (SKS) locks secure both bikes and rack together. Off-road and RV ratings up to 42 lbs per bike expand where you can take it, all without worrying about wobble or rust.

Set up was a breeze. Light weight and bikes fit perfectly.

by:

Very durable piece of equipment. Only had it for a few days but getting ready for a 2,000 mile road trip

by:

The rack was very simple to assemble and install on my 2023 Hyundi Palisade. The ramp makes it so much easier to load my Electra cruiser bike. I have ordered an electric bike from EBC, and I can't wait to try loading it. I will try to follow up when I get the new bike and use the rack some more.

by:

If scratching your brand new $1200 e-bike is what you have in mind, this is the bike rack for you. Tighten the knobs as tight as you can and you are guaranteed to still have movement or break the knob. Both are included for the price of one. And if you enjoy a 70 degree incline to push your bike up, then you have found the right rack because the ramp is super steep on your average fifth wheel (useless, just throw the ramp out into the scrap metal pile). I have successfully been able to take the paint off of every surface the rack mounts come in contact with. The rubber guards on the wheel/rim straps are next to impossible to adjust as you load. Super disappointed in this purchase. Yakima is known for good equipment, but be sure to wrap rags and foam anywhere you can.

by:

Looks like it will work great!

by:

I did like almost everything about this rack. I was shopping for a rack that would hold two e-bike and was approved for use on a bumper pull travel trailer. First the sales representative at eTrailer was excellent in verifying the mounting on out trailer. The order process was quick and smooth with no issues. My order was shipped the same day that it was ordered. I was shocked at how fast the carrier was delivered, two days after it was ordered. To put the carrier together was basically one bolt. The weight was not a problem to get into the receiver on our trailer. The next was to mount the bikes to the carrier itself. The Ramp worked well with the 70 pound e-bike. Adjusting the was a bit of an issue. With how the hold down straps are mounted you have to adjust the sliding rails to fit the wheel base of your bike. When I had both of my e-bike mounted correctly the wheel only had about an inch and a half of the trie on the rail it self. I have Searched for rail extenders but have not been able to find any. Looking at my photos you will see that they need to be about 4 to 5 inches longer. Once strapped in they are secure at least while the trailer is not moving. I plan to make some extensions for poly carbonate.

by:

Very solid and sturdy. Assembly straight forward. On fist trip now.

by:

I haven't had an opportunity to use my purchase as of yet, but working with etrailer merits the 5 star rating. I ordered my bike rack on Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving and it was delivered on Saturday. Fantastic turn around time. Couldn't ask for more than that.

by:

Mounted on Escalade, ramp is quite steep, tough for 80 pound bike and must be on level ground or ramp may not reach ground. Other than that the rack works well.

by:

I used all of etrailer's videos to help me decide on the best rack for my needs. This will work great for me because our bikes both have fenders and we will only be transporting the same two bikes. Plus it is strong enough for an RV and a cover which is important to us.

by:

Product arrived promptly and in quality packaging. Assembly instructions were clear and concise. Put the Yakama rack together in about 20 minutes. I am very happy with the heavy duty construction of the rack. I have two Aventon Aventure 2 e-bikes that weigh over 70 lbs. The rack handles the load great.

by:

Ordered the Yakima OnRamp LX to carry our 2 Electric bikes on the back of our Bronco Sport. It is a little complicated to get set up, (guys don't like to read directions - but that's what wives are for I guess) Once it was all put together though it worked great. Will be a good addition for our trips with the bike. Also wanted to give a big THANK YOU to the folks at Etrailer!! I had an assembly question and they were very helpful and answered it quickly. Looking forward to the ride.

by:

Installation was easy and it secures the e-bikes very well.

by:

The Yakima OnRamp LX Electric Bike Rack - 2” Hitch - Frame Mount is a quality made rack.

by:

The ordering process, the delivery time and the product condition when it arrived were all wonderful. The assembly and installation of the bike rack ... and the accompanying light package ... wwas simple, well documented and successful. Overall ... an extremely satisfying experience.

by:

Great rack. Looks and work fantastic.

by:

It is very sturdy for holding our two E-bikes on our small motorhome. I like that the ramp breaks down and attaches to the rack vs having to store it. Also, the adjustment for the wheelbase, although it sometimes gets out of alignment.

by:

Due to the onboard ramp, this bike ramp is about the easiest way to load and carry our 2 ebikes. Ebikes are quite heavy. As a drawback and a plus for functionality, this rack is very heavy also. If older like us, it takes 2 people to install. Otherwise, great rack!

by:

This Yakima bike rack holds my 2 Lectric bikes very secure on the back of my 5th wheel trailer. The ramp makes loading the bikes a one man job. I would give it a 5 star if I was able to load my bikes in the opposing directions but by the way my bikes are secured with the seat post they both have to face the same direction & I had to remove one of my bike baskets & lower one of the bikes Handle bars. Over all a great rack & different bikes might not have these issues. Also the rack is somewhat heavy & I need to remove my batteries to keep the weight under the 5th wheel receiver weight limit.

by:

Installed rack on my GMC truck to test out, was able to load my two electric bikes by myself, with two people would be much easier. Rack is very well constructed, yet easy to install on hitch. Will be doing road test in January, mounting on 5th wheel and going from New Jersey to Florida.

by:

Ric was great to work with! Made sure all my questions were answered. The entire process was great from start to finish.
Thank you Ric and etrailer.

by:

This is a great bike rack for 2 e-bike (70 lbs). Very easy to use the ramp to roll the bikes into position. The clamping system is very easy to use. Overall, very happy

by:

There is only one issue with the On ramp LX: Overuse of blue locktite at the manufacturing plant on the screws that attach the tray extensions. The knobs to tighten the adjustable trays CANNOT BE TIGHTENED! I had to use thick fender washers to get the required 3NM of tension on the knobs that tighten the adjustable trays because I could not screw the darn things past all the blue threadlock!

by:

Very sturdy, pin very hard to insert, my wife can’t insert it.
Except for problem with pin I would buy again. Very heavy not something to take off and on every time you ride, have to just leave it on the car all the time.

by:

Do not buy this rack!
The bikes barely
fit next to each other especially using on the only 1 upright bar.
This rack needs 2 upright bars!

The clamps to hold the bikes to the upright bar are to short causing the bikes to rest on each other. Even when bikes are opposite facing .
The ratchet clamp used to cinch down the clamps to the bike literal feel apart in my hand. I wasn't even tightening it yet.
Getting the bikes past each other and clamps is a nightmare!
Completely regret this very expensive purchase.
I chose this one because of the weight it could carry while using a 1 1/4 inch hitch.
DO NOT BUY

I am very sorry you are not happier with this rack Amy. I have played around with this bike rack and have not had the same issues that you are describing. I am curious to as of what kind of bikes you have? Can you please respond back to the email that you received with pictures of the bikes installed so I can forward them over to Yakima to see what we can do to try to make you happier with your purchase?? I really do appreciate your time =)

  • What Bike Rack with a Ramp Should I Get For My 2024 Aventon Step Through E-Bike?
Hello Karla, Wow, that is a really nice e-bike! I do not blame you for wanting a ramp for your e-bike, just because you can lift your bike doesn't mean that you should. For your 2024 Aventon A-Level 2 step through Commuter E-bike I recommend the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y88DJ. What I really like about this rack is how the padded clamp is able to maneuver in all directions making it very easy to clamp onto the bike, it really is the reason...

  • Comparing the Yakima OnRamp and OnRamp LX Bike Racks
Great question, Rondi! The Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR is the first generation while the Yakima OnRamp LX # Y28DJ is the second generation of this rack. The LX has slightly higher weight ratings (70 lbs per bike on road and 42 off-road), the trays are upgraded to be easier to adjust and hold the tires better, and then the LX has provisions for the License Plate and Tail Light Relocation Kit # Y74VR. I do recommend picking up the Yakima LockUp Hitch Lock and Cable Lock # Y07238 though because...

Thanks for your reaching out, Don! The rack and hitch combination you're looking at will in fact work on your Mini Cooper. However, there is a but here. While the Yakima OnRamp LX part # Y28DJ will be able to work on the EcoHitch part # EH47FR as well as be able to carry your bikes, it may not be the best option for your bikes, mainly your carbon fiber bike. Most carbon fiber bikes are not recommended to be used on a bike rack where the rack would be making contact with the frame like...

  • RV Approved E-Bike Rack that Can Fit 1-1/4 inch Hitch
Hey Patti, so the problem with hitch adapters is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent which is not ideal for the 1-1/4 inch hitch size that normally has lower capacities. So what that means is that using a hitch adapter with an e-bike rack at the rear of an RV is a pretty bad idea and you'd be best served with an e-bike rack that is RV approved and also designed for your hitch size like the Yakima OnRamp par # Y28DJ that you referenced.

  • Does The Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack Work With Step Thru Bikes?
Hello Pamela. Yes, the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack # Y28DJ will indeed work with step thru bikes. The OnRamp secures your bike using wheel straps on the platform along with adjustable clamps for attaching to the frame of the bike. The clamps can attach to the seat post, which is what makes it compatible with step thru frames. The OnRamp LX is the new version of the Yakima OnRamp. The new version has a few upgrades, most notably a 70 lb per bike capacity. The ramp attachment is super convenient...

I do see your Aventon Level 2 bike has a weight of 54lbs. Since you are using the Curt Receiver # C12490 on your 2013 Scion xB and being a 1-1/4" receiver I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y28DJ as it can support bikes up to 66lbs each and has a ramp for ease loading. Anna, if you're referring to the OnRamp then there used to be a set of longer straps Yakima offered for fatter tires, but they've since been discontinued, unfortunately. Since it sounds like your tires are exceeding the max limit the rack can handle, then I'd suggest looking toward an upgrade like the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY10007-05 which can handle up to 5" wide tires.
