Perfect fit for my 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. No adjustments needed. I installed this hitch receiver all by myself taking my time. It took about two hours as I don’t have a lift and had to go from side to side under the truck. I also purchased the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Chevrolet/GMC which took me the longest having to strip and connect all the wires. This was a simple project for a diyer (me).

2022 Chevrolet Colorado

Long story-short… it fits but arrives damaged and has some rust spots for the safety chain holes. Installed in ~3 hours doing myself - you NEED a breaker bar and torque wrench with 21mm socket (check out [hardware store]). Like other reviews mention/warn on its shipping and handling - the tow bar was severely bent and required me to take a large piece of scrap wood and hammer it straight so it would fit. Also - the trailer plug was shipped inside the box with the tow bar - and the packaging was so bad the plug was rattling around, screws were loose inside and the bracket was missing entirely (luckily I didn’t need the bracket). I was going to return the plug but etrailer was going to charge $xx for shipping… won’t be a customer from them anymore. If you can look past likely needing to rework the bar with a mallet this product will work for you.

Comments
It is common for hitches to bend or flex and to receive some scratches during shipment, since the mounting brackets are made from a mild steel that allows the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. If the entire hitch was made of rigid steel, there would be a greater chance of the hitch being damaged and experiencing stress cracks. Such cracks could cause the hitch to malfunction. This flexing often times will cause the holes not to align. Because of this we do have a help article I have the link attached below that will walk you through the process of straightening the hitch. As for the rust spots, we recommend using a rust-oleum type of paint to prevent any future corrosion. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to better assist you.

Super easy to install. High quality hitch overall. Added a B&W adjustable ball hitch and I couldn’t be happier. 10/10 would buy again

Looks great and is very concealed under the bumper
Ready to put it to use now!

2019 Chevrolet Colorado

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado this is what it looks like after getting rear-ended at around 30 MPH is my guess. The hitch preformed very well in my opinion though damage to the truck was extensive "Needs a new frame". I definitely will purchase another one this is pretty much the best aftermarket hitch available I think.

by:

Would be a 5 star rating but the holes on the receiver did not line up with the side mount holes on the frame. I had to use a Dremel and make the holes about 1/8th of an inch wider. Also box came damaged and the side mount on the receiver for the driver side was tweaked and needed to be hammered straight. Other than that the receiver feels incredibly sturdy and once I made the holes slightly bigger and the frame mount straight the receiver was bolted on in 10 mins. My 3 star rating has nothing to do with the sturdiness of the receiver just based on the holes being slightly off and the frame mount being bent. Seems like this receiver will last a long time and how many of things.

Comments
It sounds like the that hitch side brackets were flexed out of alignment when it was delivered. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a FAQ that is helpful when this occurs.

I didn't have any trouble with the installation. The hitch is perfect, it bolted right to my truck with no issues. I took this picture after I drove it, and the hitch is all dirty.

Comments
The receiver still looks good on my truck.

I wanted this hitch to put my bicycle rack on my Colorado. Maybe pit my dirt bike carrier on it later. No big towing. Beyond having to build a simple jig to keep the hitch from rolling over during installation, the unit installed well, despite some warnings in earlier posts of width problems. My unit slipped right between the bumper plates and frame rails as it should. Immediately put to work. Thumbs up to etrailer for quick shipping and a good product! Thanks!

2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Love Etrailer, beautiful hitch. Fits my truck just like the factory one would, looks good, and has a healthy weight rating. No drilling or welding was nice, it fits in factory holes with factory hardware. The detail of the web site is incredible. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I felt it could have been packaged a little better. When it arrived, the hitch had ripped through the box and the mounting ears were bent which made it much more tedious to mount than it should have been. But I got it on there and it still ended up looking and working great. I would buy from them again.

by:
2019 Chevrolet Colorado

The hitch arrived very quickly, there was some slight damage but it was fixed quickly and easily. I installed the hitch this morning, everything went very smoothly. Installation took me longer than an hour but I'm kind of old and a little slow plus I was working on my back with only hand tools. I really like all the videos that are available, I found ones for my exact year and model truck. I also purchased the wiring kit, but I will install it later. I am very pleased with etrailer and their products.

Comments
I like the hitch and I am glad that I installed it, but with the way things were last year, I did not get to use it. Hoping this year will be better.

This product works great on my 2016 Chevy Colorado. I would highly recommend removing the bumper first and having a second person assist when installing the receiver. The mounting brackets had to be widened minimally with a mallet. Overall, relatively easy to install. etrailer staff is very friendly and helpful.

After a year of use, I am VERY happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

Comments
Excellent! Still works great 2 years later. Zero issues to date.

The fit was excellent packaged good and a good looking product. The shipping to me was very fast. Would very much be looking at other items, bought 2016 Canyon no hitch, your prices was very much inline.

Comments
So far working good took a long time to get mounted trouble with getting bolts out of frame, hitch in itself fit perfectly, box it came in was a little banged up but everything was ok finish looked very good and holding up so far.

by:

Receiver was a bolt in as was stated by etrailer. There is a bracket missing on the receiver that the spare tire support bolts to. I will have to configure something to hold the bracket. Other than the bracket it took 30 minutes on a lift with impact tools. Hand tools will take probably another hour.

Comments
I called Curt about your concern with the spare tire bracket. The bracket is not necessary in the support of the spare tire since the cable tightens when the spare tire is raised back into position. You should not have any issues with support of the spare tire without this bracket. It also does not act as a heat shield so there is no problem there.

Chevrolet Colorado

Ordered this to put on my Colorado. Came by UPS and the box was pretty beat up and the only protected part was the actual 2" reviever.

When I went to install it seems it was just a 1/4" shy of fitting around the frame. Took it off to measure the distance and one of the flanges was leaned in just enough I didn't notice... I used a rubber mallet to beat it up into place around the frame. My impact didn't reach the bolts on the side so i had to do it by hand and because the product was cockeyed just enough it really made it hell to tighten down.

Looks outstanding and works great on a test pull, I'm not sure if the welder messed this one up or ups during delivery but make sure to use a measure tape to actually see if it fits before you start and it's very simple installation.

Didn't think to take pictures before and after...

Absolutely love my new curt trailer hitch! The response time was great! Package and trailer hitch was packed great! Installation instructions were very easy to follow. My only criticism would be the pictures were hard to see. Thanks for a great product!

by:

Perfect fit and arrived fast! The second person was beneficial to raising the hitch level, and it definitely took longer with hand tools but was manageable. Thoroughly pleased.

by:

Super fast shipping, easy to install, no drilling or hammering to fit. Easy, easy installation even for the not so mechanically inclined.

by:

We are very satisfied with our curt trailer hitch. It works great, does the job, well worth the purchase.

by:
2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Very well made, as expected. Straight forward installation. Video very helpful.
Unfortunately hitch was a very tight, difficult fit. Had to use a floor jack and large deadblow hammer to "persuade" it to slip onto the rails. All illustrated procedures were used, ie ratchet straps, jackstands under bumper.
Once I muscled/beat it into place all bolts installed with no problems.
Probably just got a hitch that warped more than normal during welding production.
Would definitely recommend or buy again. Price, excellent. Shipping prompt & arrived in perfect cosmetic condition.
Vehicle just made an almost 500mi tow trip with ease.

by:
2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Fit great, quick and easy install, just wish there was a way to mount the bracket from the spare tire on the hitch. Dont
like just taking it off. It differently supports the spare tire winch. I'm going figure out something tho. Just thought you should know.

  • Will a Round Tube Trailer Hitch Have More Flex and Lower Performance of Weight Distribution System
In my opinion, since you already have the OEM hitch on your vehicle, I would not replace it with a square tube hitch, especially if you aren't having any issues with towing. Consumers tow everyday using a weight distribution hitch with a round tube hitch and do just fine. I consulted with my contact at Cequent, the parent company of Hidden Hitch, Draw-Tite, and Reese, to get their opinion as well and basically the round tube is going to be a little less resistant to torque but as long...
