Changing your hitch ball size is as easy as pushing out the integrated pin.

No need to get out the heavy wrenches. Convert-A-Ball's interchangeable balls are equipped with integrated pins, making it easy to change out your hitch ball for one of another size.
To switch balls, simply push in the integrated pin (using a pen or your finger) to release and remove installed ball. Then just replace with different-size ball, reversing the process.

This Convert-A-Ball interchangeable ball set exceeds THMA V-5 ratings in all categories and meets SAE standard J-684.

This is my second convert-a-ball set that I've gotten (for a second car) for towing sailboats. I really like the ease of just changing the ball and not having to carry separate "hitches" with different sizes of balls. I don't have room in the car to keep a separate hitch on hand, and certianly don't want the extra weight. I also don't have a truck and don't want one of those 3-way balls that rotate. I've had my first set for 12 years and am happy this option is still available for my other car. When someone says, "We'll need 'x' size trailer hitch", my answer is "No problem. I've got it."

I liked the fact that I could use my 5” drop hite for my ridgeline to pull 2 different trailers and one trailer needs a 2” ball and the other uses a 1 7/8” ball. Prior to getting this item I had to switch balls as I would pull different trailers. It worked so well that I got an one for my wife’s surburban since her vehicle has an 8” drop.

Super easy to swap out the balls. Only downside is the lack of square edges at the base so that you can keep the upper part from spinning while you tighten the nut. I used a bench vise on the nut and hand grip to keep it from spinning enough until the friction of the lock washer allowed me to finish tightening the nut all the way.

I love Convert-A-Ball hitch balls. I have 6 vehicles and as many ball mounts depending on the vehicle/trailer combination. The ball mounts each have a stem and I can swap from 1-7/8" ball to 2" to 2-5/16" without tools! Makes life on the farm just a little bit easier.

As long as the balls are stored in a dry place and the o-rings on the pins stay lubricated with grease or Vaseline, they work perfectly!

Trailer ball is of excellent quality. I am curious to see how well the sliding pin holds up to the salty road conditions we have here in Michigan. The pictured ball does show a safety cotter pin but it was not included

The convert-a-ball basically works well as I have equipment with both 1 7/8 and 2" receivers. I had a problem with my 2" ball in that the pin retainer inside the ball broke jamming the pin. I was able to drive the pin out and removed the broken clip wire. It is still usable although there is no retainer clip and I have to be careful not to lose the pin. This is probably an unusual event and I still recommend the convert-a-ball.

I had already purchased a receiver lock a couple months earlier and then placed a new order for a coupler lock and spare keys to match all locking devices and existing keys. eTrailer.com tracked down a coupler lock and all keys to match my existing receiver lock key# so I have a single key for all lock devices. I ordered the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeabe Ball Set, after looking at other Mfgs. this set will allow me to use both the 1-7/8 and 2" hitches, which is most common, and I do own both size trailers. I like the nickel plating and the intergrate pin . I have had the Mfg. with the screw type top of ball, that became rusty and the spring and ball bearing fell out, safety wasn't good.

The order came within a week and was in great condition.

I will order again from etrailer again without a doubt.

The order came within the wk I order it. This is the 2nd set that I have purchased, this set is for my son, as he just got a new truck and needed a hitch ball set that had both a 1 7/8" and a 2" ball. I purchased a Convert-A-Ball set like this one over a year ago and have not had a problem at all, and the convenience of changing ball sizes, and the safety that you have that the ball is held tight in the hitch, can not be matched.

I have had one of these types of receiver balls on my 98 S-10 for years and it never failed me ! My friends had those other types with the spring-loaded pin and the "zig-zag" channel and they always jammed up and mine NEVER did ! When I sold the truck I let the unit go with it ( I forgot to take it off), so when I bought another truck a few months later I got one of these again for my bumper. It is a no brainer.....

To replace the hitch ball you would simply loosen and remove the hitch ball nut and pull the ball out of the ball mount hole. You may need a large wrench to loosen the nut. We do have what you're looking for. If you already have a ball mount, the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set - 1-7/8" and 2" Balls # 901b will work great. This part will easily and quickly allow you to swap from 1-7/8" to a 2" ball by just removing the integrated pin and swapping balls. Also to note, this setup is only going to work with ball mounts that have a 1" diameter hole.

While it is possible that the trailer takes a 1-7/8 inch ball it seems more likely that it would take a 2 inch since the dry weight of the trailer is 3,630 pounds. Recommendation for Replacing Broken Pin on 2
The only hitch balls that I am familiar with that use a pin would be an interchangeable ball sets like the Convert-A-Ball, # 901b.
