Nice V5 drawbar. The shock absorbing works really well.

Works as described to soften the jostling as you go down the road. It made a noticeable improvement in noise as well as jerking of the truck back and forth. As always, eTrailer.com's service and shipping was outstanding.

The cushioned ball mount looks very strong and will work to cut down the trailer noise while towing. The 2" ball also looked very strong and well made. Looking forward to many miles of trouble free towing.

This hitch is exactly as advertised. It was easily found on your website and I sent in a question early on regarding the product before I ordered it and got an email response with the needed answer in less than 24 hours!

I received my shipment on time and in good condition. The hitch and ball fit with the correct measurements I needed and looks to be built with high quality but I haven’t pulled my trailer with it yet to rate how it works. I hope to do that soon.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

I'm running an F350 King Ranch 4x4 with all terrain tires mounted on the factory wheels. The 10" drop Convert-a-ball mount works perfectly with the Curt 2 5/16 rocker ball. I'm also running the large rear stone guards to protect the 5th wheel and boat from stone damage. That stone guard system mounts to the ball mount and requires a minimum distance of 10 1/2" from the center of the ball hole to the center of the lock pin hole. This ball mount I believe is 11.5" and works perfectly. I am very pleased with this product with it's 8k rating.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

Bought this for my wife’s truck after owning one myself and is worth it! Takes the jar and shock out of pulling trailers( we mainly pull hay wagons and farm equipment). Highly recommend these cushioned hitches and fast service!

Comments
She loves the hitch. If someone borrows it she makes sure she gets it back! I own several now for several trucks.

The cotter pin was bent. It didn’t seem to be fitting good so I tried to straighten it which broke the tip off, rendering it useless. Looking back at the pictures on your website for the product it is apparently supposed to be bent to help it fit better in the confined space. Oh well, live and learn...

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

We bought this to tow our 3,000 lbs. boat with our Subaru Ascent with a 5,000 lbs. towing capacity. With the OEM ball mount, we could really feel every jolt and jiggle from hard stops, going over bumps in the road, and trailering down dirt roads. However, the dual cushion ball has really improved our trailing experience. Once we get up to speed, we hardly notice we are towing our boat. It's also great because some of the lakes we visit are down dirt roads, and the cushion makes this a much more pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone towing a boat or larger trailer with a SUV as it maintains that comfortable ride and the jostling of the trailer is much less noticeable.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

This is a ball hitch mount that is not a standard unit, problem I had I purchased a new p/u going from a 2500 series which stood higher to a 1500 series standing lower by 4" also lowering 3 1/2" towing a 4800 pound boat as we all know, needing to tow level, that wasn't going to happen, this ball mount did the trick, fits D.O.T. standards also more than what i needed for weight requirements

Comments
Ball mount achieved the goal for my height requirements, what I didnt explain the piston action in the ball mount, it does cushion the back and fourth while towing considerably if and when I will buy one with it, also you got it to me in two days great device l

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

I purchased a 2020 GMC Yukon XL Denali which is about 9" taller than my 1988 Chevy Suburban was. The Convert-A-Ball Mount with a 12" Drop is the right amount of drop I needed so I could keep all 3 of my trailers (box, boat, and car trailers) level with the ground. The Convert-A-Ball Mount with a 12" Drop and a 7,000 lb load rating has been a very good product for me.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

After having trouble finding the right drop height and weight rating receiver for my new Ford Expedition Max, I called etrailer and Ashley was awesome in helping me as I needed something quickly. I've just travelled 1200 miles interstate with the "Convert-A-Ball" unit and I'm thrilled with it. The mount cushions the movement and had zero jolts or tugging with the trailer. Great product so far and at this stage I wouldn't use anything else!

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

My usage of your hitch is a bit unusual, I think. I pull a two ton roller with my Ram and I've used your cushioned hitch to smooth out the process. The roller Lunette just dropped over a 2" ball and then banged and jerked on the ball neck. Check out the photos for my adaptation.. I can flip it over and use the 2" ball! Have enclosed some photos. The cushion is holding up very well and it takes a beating!! Thanks

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

I purchased the AMSC10 because I needed a 10" drop hitch to tow my lowboy enclosed trailer with my lifted Toyota Tundra. I tried several other types of hitches with this towing combo and I was always disappointed. Mostly because of the fit/sloppiness of the ball mount into the receiver. This would cause a lot of noise and the feeling of the trailer "bucking" while hitting bumps and such. The other hitches that I tried were those cool aluminum ones, both a fixed one and an adjustable one. Although they were pretty, both left me very disappointed. The shipping for this hitch from Etrailer was fast and efficient. I received emails informing me of my order status throughout the whole process. Upon receiving my AMSC10, I tested it out and found it to be a much nicer fit into the receiver. Once I hooked up to the trailer and began to tow, the difference was extremely noticeable. This hitch is quiet, it doesn't buck, and in fact, comparatively, you wouldn't even know the trailer was behind you unless you looked. I am actually really excited about towing with this hitch. I know it sounds goofy, because it is, but it makes the task so much more pleasurable with the cushion ball mount. I'm already thinking about buying the 8" drop for my normal trailers.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

Very good product and I would have given it a 5 star rating but there is one critical flaw that is quickly remedied. When using the pintle hitch, the pressure exerted on pin while pulling a load can cause the pin to turn, thereby popping out the keeper pin. This happened twice and it was a good thing that I had the hitch positioned so that the pintle pin was installed going down allowing gravity to hold the pin in place even when the keeper pin fell out. I have since changed out this style of keeper pin with a cinch pin that can spin 360 degrees inside the 2" tube and no pressure is exerted on it by the load being pulled. If I were designing this from new, I would make it so that the draw pin on the pintle had a square shoulder much like a carriage bolt so that it can't turn thereby eliminating pressure on the keeper pin. Other than that it is a great product.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

I use this hitch when I pull my horse trailer to make the stop/start transitions as smooth as possible for the horses in the back. It works great. I also love that its a category IV hitch. Really heavy duty. My truck sits pretty high, and the amount of drop - 8" is perfect. I never worry about hitch failure travelling with my horses - they're a heavy load, and any failure would be a disaster. E Trailer provided excellent service, and their shipping to Canada was prompt and hassle free. Way to go guys, keep up the great work!

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

We have a Pink Tractor (google Mom's Pink Tractor) that we pull to events, mainly in Ks, Ok, Mo, and Ne. We have around 35 events a year we take the tractor to to promote breast cancer awareness. The other day my wife and I were leaving for an event, i had let a friend borrow the hitch to see how he liked it. In less then a mile from the house my wife started complaining about the trailer jerking. That is coming from a lady that really was upset when I paid that much for a hitch. She told me to stop and buy one. (a long and expensive trip, we had to stop at a casino so she could rest her neck) I could write a review with a lot of trailer talk, but, this story tells the story.

Review from a similar Cushioned Ball Mount in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

Would not tow without one. I have overloaded on private property numerous times, and it still has not deteriorated the cushion. Makes regular towing much smoother. This unit, rated at 10k, with about 7500 lbs behind it, made my trailer feel a lot nicer then it is. If you spend big money on a trailer, no reason to use anything but these cushioned mounts.

  • Version of Convert a Ball Cushioned Ball Mount with 6 inch Drop That Fits 2.5 inch Hitch
Yes, the # AMSC6HD could be used with a hitch reducer sleeve like you mentioned but since these types of adapters can cause a bit of movement your best option would be the version of this ball mount that is designed to fit 2-1/2 inch hitches directly part # AMSCV-6. This has the same 6 inch drop but has a higher 18,000 lb towing capacity.

  • How Do You Orient Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount AMSC6HD To Be Used In Rise Position?
You are correct. To get the 4-3/4" rise you need with the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4-3/4" Rise, 6" Drop - 14,000 lbs # AMSC6HD you were looking at you will insert the ball mount so the portion that the hitch ball installs into will be point up. You will need a hitch ball with a 1-1/4" diameter shank so I recommend the 2" # A-90 or 2-5/16" # 19286. I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

  • How to Match Different Heights of Hitch Ball and Trailer Coupler for Safe Level Towing
Thank you for providing a photo of your trailer coupler. Trailers should always be level when hitched. If a trailer is out of level when towed it will tend to have more sway. I notice you have weight distribution (WD) lift brackets on your trailer frame. If you are using a WD system you can get a new shank that has enough height drop to let your trailer be level when hitched. Based on your 6-inch height difference between the hitch ball and coupler, you can use a WD shank with 5-6...

  • Will a Cushioned Ball Mount Work with Surge Trailer Brakes
The cushion inside of the Convert-A-Ball cushioned ball mount # AMSC4 would have only a slight affect on the surge coupler on your trailer. You may not even notice it. The cushion is very dense and the more pressure that is put on it the firmer it gets. It would take more force to compress that cushion than to actuate the surge coupler. Cushioned ball mount # AMSC4 has a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop but there are other options if you need a different rise or drop to tow the trailer...
