  Well, it worked! I even had another guy come over and give it a read. It is possible that the many years of pushing and pulling on your balls have enlarged the hole they fit in causing the movement you are experiencing. You could disassemble the big unit and check to see if there is damage to the rod that holds the balls or any of the other parts but to me it just sounds like it needs to be put out to pasture, so to speak.   The Rapid Hitch Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount you referenced, part # AM3410, actually has two hitch pin holes. I pulled one off of the shelf and made the following measurements. The distance from the closest hole to the rear of the ball assembly is 3-3/8 inches. The distance from the furthest hitch pin hole to the rear of the ball assembly is 4-3/8 inches.   The pin that holds the ball mount platform of the Rapid Hitch part # AM3410 that you referenced should slide right out as it was not pressed. It may have some dirt or grime built up in that area which is making it harder to push out. If use small punch with a hammer it should break that free and easily slide out.

Since you'd be using it in the rise position this would not be an issue at all and this would work well for you. The max rise of this is 6-1/2 inches so this would work great in that regard as well.

The Master Lock hitch lock set # 1481DAT you referenced will not work with the aluminum ball mount kit # AM3410 because it's too short. It's only 2-3/4 inches in length.
