Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 08/12/2025

Question:

Im swapping out my trailers brakes and hubs. Will these Lippert 10inch ABS-compatible brakes fit my 2023 Grand Design with 3,500-lb axles and a 5 on 4-1/2inch bolt pattern?

Great question, Kevin. Yes, these Lippert ABS 10 inch brake assemblies # LC73PX are designed specifically for 3,500-lb axles that use the Lippert ABS system. For the ABS compatible hub and drum, you'd want to pair them with part # LC44PX. It matches the ABS requirements and gives you the 5 on 4-1/2inch bolt pattern you're running.

Just make sure your mounting flange has the standard 4-bolt pattern.

Out of curiosity, does your 2023 Grand Design have the Lippert ABS axles already, or are you adding this?
If you don't have it already, you'd need to have the Lippert ABS Module from Lippert installed and professionally wired to this setup, which is not the cheapest route.

Andrew, if my 2023 Grand Design didn’t come with ABS from the factory, can I still bolt these 10" ABS brake assemblies on and just run them like normal electric brakes without the ABS hooked up?

@Daniel That’s a sharp question. Technically, yes, you can mount the # LC73PX brake assemblies and run them just like standard electrics even if the ABS sensor plug isn’t connected. The brakes will still stop the trailer; you just won’t get the ABS functionality until an ABS hub and module are added later. Some folks do this as a phased upgrade, tackling the hubs and module when budget or downtime allows. Are you thinking of adding ABS eventually, or mostly just trying to get fresh brakes on now? It would be a waste of money if you never plan to add ABS system. Anyone else here install the ABS system yourself and not OEM?
