Features to know about

Steady, Predictable Towing: 3,500-lb High-Strength Steel Axle Beam

A worn or bent axle can throw your whole setup off. This Dexter trailer axle beam brings everything back in line with a 3,500-lb weight capacity and high-strength steel construction you can count on. It measures 95" from hub face to hub face and 80" from spring center to spring center, giving your suspension the correct geometry for solid tracking and reliable handling mile after mile.

Easy Bearing Maintenance Without the Mess: E-Z Lube Spindles

Keeping bearings packed doesnt have to mean taking everything apart. The straight E-Z Lube spindles feature built-in grease zerks so you can pump in fresh grease right through the end of the spindle. The grease flows through to both the inner and outer bearings, pushing old grease out so you know its fullall without removing hubs or seals.

Smooth Tire Contact for Controlled Ride: Zero Camber Bend

Youll notice a slight bow in the middle of the axlethats intentional. Dexter builds in a bend that sets a zero camber angle once the weight of your trailer is on it. That means even road-to-tread contact across your tires for better traction, even wear, and steady straight-line towing without wandering or pulling.

Low, Stable Load Height: Underslung Leaf-Spring Design

Loading and unloading gets easier when the deck sits lower. This underslung axle has spring seats welded to the underside so your leaf springs mount below the tube. The setup keeps your trailer height low for simple access while maintaining full suspension travel and stability on the road.

Position Your Suspension Layout

Loose spring seats let you position the suspension to match your trailer layout before welding them in place. Combined with the straight axle beam and integrated spindles, they provide flexibility for replacement or custom fabrication projects.

Will... great service, much appreciated. The correct axle arrived and we installed it along with the heavy duty suspension kit and the over to under axle kits. The new trailer bed height is perfect and I truly like the added grease points to keep things lubricated.

One issue did arise... the new brake drums were not correct... the lug bolt spacing was off from the wheel spacing by about 1/4"... so , I installed the original drums, which were in good shape, over the new brake assemblies.

Can I get an RGA for the drums to send them back? Obviously, they were not installed on the trailer.

Thanks again for the great support, etrailer has it together in a big way!

Mission accompolished just a few minutes ago. The attached (3) images attached tell the story.

Any customer relocating spring seats should measure closely before welding new seats in place to fit their trailer needs.

Again your technical assistance and quick order leave me a very very satisfied customer..
[Thumbs up]

Perfect fit, nice axle and fast delivery. I liked it so much I ordered another a day later to replace the front axle. My 30 yr old tandem trailer's axle broke at the wheel, so I went to a local store which doesn't stock them anymore. Could of ordered a so so axle for $94 + $28 shipping and wait 2 weeks but needed it fast. I went to a major trailer sales & service shop and told "maybe we could get one for $250" with no call back. I decided to check out etrailer and was surprised to see Dexter axles that fit my trailer for $140 with FREE shipping in 3-4 days! Ordered Sat. night, got it Wednesday afternoon, and installed it (with brakes) in an hour. Only problem I had was determining if spindles would fit my hubs. They stated "1/16th spindle" and must be industry talk but french to me. So I had to look up bearing #'s they listed to check bearing sizes to make sure they fit my hubs. A little more time but not a deal breaker. The best part was the huge difference in ride with just one new axle. Always had bouncing loaded or not, but now with just one axle the ride is smoother no load and with my 4000 lb tractor on it. Can't wait to get the 2nd axle on that arrived today. First two pics show the difference between the old straight axle and the new dexter axle. The third is a pic of my 2nd axle, oh well. Etrailer is my new go to place for trailer parts. I have 7 trailers.

Haven’t installed it yet, but it arrived today in a major rain storm and seemed to be packed very well. I pulled it into the garage and cut it open. Made sure I was right. We will be installing it tomorrow.

After a rust related axle failure, my equipment trailer was down. (If you roll in the rust belt, check your axles near where the brake wire goes through)
After checking my local source, I was told there was a long lead time for new axles due to the pandemic.
I was so happy to find etrailer. They had the exact axles I needed. After I pulled the axles I realized I also needed hardware and u-bolts.
Everything arrived ahead of schedule, allowing me to get back up and running quickly.
Thank you etrailer. You are a valuable resource.

light rust on axle ends rust on break backing plate studs and studs were nut fully set in housing and did not come with nuts

I received the items in a very timely fashion and in great shape. I torched off the old U bolts and removed the axle. I removed the new spring seats using a cut off wheel in my grinder and moved them inward one inch on each side, then MIG weld the new ones on they lined up perfectly to the old ones. I then installed the new U bolt kit and torqued them down to 65 foot lbs. The old bearings were only one year old and reused them after cleaning. I installed new seals at this time. The brake pads were same age as bearings showing little wear. The old axles were not Dexter axles and rusted from the inside out then broke off by the drop.. I replaced both. Was a pleasant experience and would do it all over again.

I inherited an aluminum trailer that ended up needing a complete overhaul and etrailer was the best resource I could have found. After researching extensively to find out what I needed and watching their videos on how to do it I ended up ordering an EZ-lube axle, galvanized hubs, springs and a hanger kit (in other words everything from the frame down).
Everything shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. All the parts worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier!

Great Axle! One year in, it's performing well.

by:

I replaced one axle with a 5200 one and it’s been great. Now I’m going to replace both with 6000 lbs axles but it’s going to be in the fall.

by:

etrailer had the best prices and excellent customer service, Thanks Ian! Shipping was fast and free to boot. I bent the front axle on my in-laws fifth wheel camper and this axle fit the bill. I had to order a set of spring seats and weld them to the opposite sides. The original seats were at 68.5 " centers and that configuration was unavailable anywhere.

by:

Axle arrived in perfect condition, was also an exact fit for my Top Hat Trailer.
Your staff was of great help finding my right axle.
I would recommend etrailer to everyone.

by:

Very good product at a fair price. It is packaged and shipped very carefully and I appreciate that they pre-wire the brake wire cross-over.

The USPS shipping was extremely frustrating (slow and untraceable) but that's not on etrailer.

by:

I placed my order on Thursday and it arrived Saturday. The axle beams were wrapped well in heavy plastic. They arrived in excellent condition except for a crushed and broken brake wire. I will have to remove the spring seats and weld new ones on since my camper has a 68 1/2 inch frame but that combination was hard to find. I’m am planning on using these to upgrade from Lippert 3500# axles, one of which we bent last year. I would definitely recommend etrailer and plan on buying more of the components for my project from them.

by:

I ordered 2 axles on Wednesday night. They arrived Saturday afternoon two days early than expected. Thanks so much. I was back on the road in no time.

by:

I did not run into any problems installing this 3500 pound trailer axle. All the welds look good and the measurements were spot on. I love the bend in the axle to compensate for the weight of the load and to put the proper camber on the tires. I will keep a close eye on the wear of the tires. But so far everything looks good. You guys also are super fast at getting the product here. I really appreciate that, along with the free shipping. Simply fantastic I have used etrailer twice and have been 100 percent satisfying keep up the good work.

by:

I ordered axle and a pk54871pl circuit breaker 5 tru46fr axle caps. The circuit breaker was taped to axle. it was broken into a million pieces. never got the 5 tru46fr caps.

by:

I couldn't have been happier with both price and speedy shipping on these parts.

by:

This axle and spindle assembly are high quality. Identical to the Dexter axle and spindle ass. that were on the trailer originally. A Big Tex S35 6' x 10' trailer that is 30+ years old.
I got the grease zerk EZ Lube version. The hubs fit perfectly on the spindles

  • Looking for 89 inch Long Dexter 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
Hey David, yes the Dexter 3,500 lb trailer axle part # DX57FT that you referenced is exactly what you are looking for. This is the correct hub face to hub face dimension you need and since the spring seats are separate you can just place them on the axle where they need to be and this will easily install to your trailer. I would measure distance between the frame centers where this will need to attach and then match that dimension for where you place the spring seats.
