Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I was skeptical at first of these tires being a brand I've never heard of so I only ordered two to start with. The tires seemed well made and had a higher speed rating that I was looking for. After running the two for part of a season on my 12k pound 5th wheel with no problems I ordered the other two. I would have to say for the money I couldn't be more happy! I definitely recommend these tires to anyone and have had zero problems with them running 75mph down the interstate! Thanks guys for the quality tires! 443588

Received tires in a timely period, all 4 tires had manufacture date within the previous 6 months. They balanced out with a usual amount of tire weights. Very happy with the process and the product. If they wear well I would increase my rating to a 5. (The original factory tires (4), a different brand, were all separating. I was fortunate not have a failure even though half of the tread remained.) 573625

These tires have been reliable over the past year. Have several long trips and many short trips on them so far. They track nicely. Dont get overly hot. For the price and not being made in U.S.A. they are a good tire. My fifth wheel is appox. 12000 lbs dry. These handle the weight well. 481160

About a year ago, after several days of internet search, I purchased the Taskmaster ST235/80R16 tires for my fifth wheel trailer. I tow this fifth wheel 5,000 to 8,000 miles annually and wanted to equip it with the best tires available. Most of the “E” rated tires available for my fifth wheel were “speed rated” for 65 miles per hour and I was looking for more. The TTWTRTM2358016E tires that I purchased are speed rated for 75 miles per hour. So far I have put 5,000 trouble-free miles on these tires and I’m very satisfied. I highly recommend these tires! I also recommend that you install a tire monitoring system on each trailer tire! 570297

I ordered 4 tires for my fifth wheel camper on Monday and they were received on Wednesday. You can't do better than that! Your sales folks were very helpful in taking the time to educate me on which tires were best for my camper. I experienced two flats on one trip about three weeks ago and wanted to make sure I was getting the best product for my money. As far as the product goes, I have not had a chance to put the tires on my rims as my trailer is in the shop being repaired as a result of the flats. 306273

Good price, fast delivery-like 3 days, born on date was very recent. No complaints at all. I have not taken these tires on a long trip yet, so I can't review their performance. But I'm very happy with this company. 522612

I ordered (2) of these Taskmaster tires for my 5th wheel camper and they arrived at a very impressive delivery of four business days. WOW!! Not too happy about the Mfr. date stamped on both tires (2014). All trailer Mfrs. recommend replacing trailer tires after 7 years of date stamped on sidewall which means that these tires have approx. 2/3 of life left. Trailer tires are notorious for dry rot and split sidewalls which usually starts to show at 6 to 7 years of date stamped. So that means that I have approx. 4 years of use. Not pleased after spending that much on each. It was very obvious that these tires were sitting in a warehouse for a very long period with the amount of dust and dirt that covered them. The UPS driver was filthy and not happy from handling them as was I. I spoke with a Rep at etrailer.com BEFORE ordering and requested that they PLEASE check the date stamp for current tires and she assured me that they would. That's the advantage of buying locally. You can check the date on each tire before purchase or mounting. I haven't mounted them and haven't checked the cost to ship back. The shame is that the tires seem very well made and of extremely good quality. Just not sure what to do. Thank you, One unhappy camper. 376585

Comments

Installed these two tires and used them for approx 1 year 1,400 miles up until I sold my trailer, and they held up well. I will most likely never buy tires again online without certification of manufactured date, and a guaranteed free return if not current dated tires. The two tires I received were already 3 years old.

I received these tires (4) in good condition and was pleased with how quickly I got them. Checked the DOT code on them which was 2017 so they haven't been sitting in warehouses for too long. They are the exact size as required on my 2006 Montana fifth wheel 35'. Haven't had them mounted yet so I can't give a review on the ride and wear quality. They have a deep tread and appear well built. 432603

I bought 4 of these tires to put on a 24 ft equipment trailer i haul a tractor and bush hog on. I purchased these tires for the load and speed rating as I traversed 210 miles of interstate highway at higher speed than other tires recommended. These tires have performed wonderfully and have excellent tread wear. I am more than pleased with these tires and have a peace of mind when moving equipment or other loads over distance at highway speeds. I will buy products from your company again as I have need. Thank you for a great product and incredible customer service 599982

The tires just arrived, not installed yet. At any rate, they look good and were delivered promptly, and the website is very user friendly. Excellent communication, and it was nice to have the tracking numbers. Made in China, not my preference, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Most of the previous items I've bought from etrailer are made in USA, so I feel like they are making an effort. These tires will replace the 10 year old weather checked ones that are original. 569130

Finally got the tires mounted and installed, they look like a pretty good tire, only time tell. Mounted on a triple axle trailer that is tough on the front axle tires. Put these on the middle axle to start with to see how they wear. etrailer was great for shopping and they were shipped out FAST. Thanks Guys 452682

The tires seem to be wearing very well. Its time to try them on the front axle and see how they handle the scuffing.

Review from a similar Taskmaster Provider Radial in Tires and Wheels

This is one of the few load rating D trailer tires available anywhere in 14". My boat/trailer (triple axle) combo checks in right at 10500 lbs so C rated tires were at their max. These tires allow me to have a safety margin. Although I don't know what the long term will bring in durability I'm very satisfied so far. I've made several purchases from etrailer and they've never disappointed me with products or services. 256730

These are going on my 14' PJ dump trailer as an upgrade. These are rated for much more weight and have an awesome tread I believe that will wear much better than the standard 235/80/16 with 10 PLY.. These guys were the cheapest around even local shops could not match the price.. Excited to get them installed and working. 356722

Ask the Experts about this Taskmaster Tires and Wheels
Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Can An Upgrade from Load Range E Tires to Load Range G Tires Work Without Changing the Wheels?
  • The answer is not a simple yes or no. The Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # PRG80235 has a load rating of 4,080 lbs at 110 psi. The similar load range E tires # TTWTRTM2358016E are load rated for 3,520 lbs at 80 psi. They are compatible with the same size wheels but they will have a different load capacity and will require a different valve stem for that increased psi. So if you were running the load range E tires on the Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel...

  • What is the Difference Between Taskmaster Provider and Contender Trailer Tires
  • There is a quality difference between the Taskmaster Provider tire # TTWTRTM2358016E and the Taskmaster Contender, # C23516E. The biggest difference is in the tread. The Provider just has better tread. The Contender was meant as a less expensive radial alternative to a bias ply tire. If it were me I would go with the Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E because of the higher quality and tread difference. I have also included a link to a video review of the Provider as well as a link to our help...

  • The Aluminum Jaguar Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black # 274-000011 has a psi restricted by the valve stem used. When you use the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long - Over 100 psi # AM20906 the capacity is most likely limited by the tire's max psi you choose to pair it with. My recommendation is the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # TTWTRTM2358016E which will be restricted by the wheel capacity and will allow you to use the rubber...

  • Can 285/85-16 Trailer Tires be Used in Place of 285/80-16 Tires that Keep Blowing Out
  • First, trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire sidewall. this is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires. If under inflated the thicker tires will generate excessive heat leading to failure. I recommend sticking with the size indicated by the manufacturer, 235/80-16, # TTWTRTM2358016E. This tire is rated for 3,520 pounds at 80 psi. If you were to go up to a 235/85-16 the tire would be 0.7 inches taller...

  • ST235/80-16 Trailer Tire and Wheel Recommendation for a Toy Hauler Trailer
  • So there is a lot going on here. First you should know that trailer tires are constructed differently than passenger vehicle tires. Trailer tires, with ST in front of the size, are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load whereas passenger vehicle tires are built for more lateral forces (because they have turning axles). This is why passenger vehicle tires should not be used on trailers. The exception is a light truck tire that has LT at the END of the tire size such as...

  • Is it Necessary to Fully Balance Special Trailer Tires
  • The combination trailer wheels and tires we sell come from the distributor already mounted together. These are not given a full dynamic balance the way a passenger car tire is but this is not necessary for trailer tires. • The trailer tires we carry like # TTWTRTM2358016E do not need to be machined balanced. You can have the tire and wheel combos balanced at a local tire shop if you wanted to though. What some manufacturers will do is line up the light spot on the tire with the heavy spot on the wheel. This is a type of balancing but not like how car tires are balanced (with weights on a balancing machine).

  • Are Taskmaster Trailer Tires Decent Tires Compared to Other Trailer Tires Brands
  • The Taskmaster tires are huge sellers for us. We don't carry Maxxis tires but these would work well for you on your flatbed as long as you keep them inflated to their max psi and stay under the weight capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi.

  • Can a Trailer with 225-75-16 Tires go to a 235-80-16 Tire Size
  • The larger tire size you want to go with will increase your overall tire diameter by 1-1/2 inches. That means that you would have 3/4 of an inch less trailer fender clearance. You would need to check out the trailer to determine if you have the clearance for it. Most likely you would be fine and could install part # TTWTRTM2358016E in place of what you currently have. However, you would want to be sure you have 3 inches of fender clearance just to be safe.

  • The Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec Series 03 Mod Trailer Wheel w/-8mm Offset - 16" x 7" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 # AM22657 does not have a rating for maximum psi. That would be based on tire and valve stem not on the wheel itself. For instance, if you use the Taskmaster ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # TTWTRTM2358016E tire with this wheel, you would have a max psi of 80 that would work just fine with a valve stem like the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long...

  • Recommended Replacement Tires For 2016 Forest River Cardinal 3825FL
  • The ST235/80R16E is a tire size that many manufacturers use, so it isn't the size that is an issue on the 2016 Forest River Cardinal 3825FL but rather the manufacturer or people not taking proper care in following the load or speed ratings on the OEM tires. We have many really nice tires in this size, so I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the trailer based on OEM tires. I recommend the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # LHWL401. This tire is rated for 3520 lbs at...

  • Best Trailer Tire in ST235/80R16 for Speed Rating and Price
  • The part # TTWTRTM2358016E is going to be your best option. This has the best price on tires in your size and unlike most trailer tires this one is rated for up to 81 mph. Nearly all trailer tires are rated at 65 mph. The weight rating for the tire is going to be 3,520 lbs at 80 psi. With trailer tires you have to have them inflated to their max psi rating to ensure that you get the full capacity.

  • Replacement 235/80-16 Tires on a 2013 Big Horn 5th Wheel Trailer with Frequent Blow Outs
  • What seems to happen is if the 5th wheel trailer is towed nose up in the front, more weight is put on the tires. Since the axles are rated for a total of 12,000 pounds, that is under the gross vehicle rating of 14,000 pounds. So if there isn't at least 2,000 pounds pin weight at the front the trailer tires will be overloaded, get hot, and that is what is leading to the failure. Also, make sure the tires are always inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. Trailer tires have...

  • Trailer Tire Recommendation in ST235/80R16 Load Range E
  • A lot people use the Goodyear tires. We also hear a lot of problems with them but that usually is a result of under inflation which is a problem for any trailer tire. Carlisle makes a good tire too. And Taskmaster, # TTWTRTM2358016E, which we do carry is a solid performer as well. There are some trailer manufacturers that use Taskmaster as their OEM tires. Taskmaster tire # TTWTRTM2358016E is a 235/80-16 load range E tire rated for 3,520 pounds at 80 psi. It also has an M speed rating...

  • Best Trailer Tire in Size ST235/80R16
  • The best tire we have in the size ST235/80R16 that you referenced would be the # TTWTRTM2358016E. This radial tire is a Load Range E with a 3,520 lbs at 80 psi capacity and a speed rating of 81 miles per hour. Normally trailer tires are only rated for 65 MPH, but since this one is rated higher it would be the best option that we have since most people really want to at least do 70 MPH. I attached a review video for this tire for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Tire Replacement Recommendation for a 225/75/16 on Tandem Fifth Wheel
  • That's an interesting tire size as it is not a standard trailer size. It sounds like you may have a passenger vehicle tire on your vehicle which is not a great idea. Your best option would be the # TTWTRTM2358016E to replace what you have as this is an ST trailer rated tire that has a capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi and has a speed rating of 81 mph. This tire is a size ST235/80R16 which is very similar to what you have also.

  • Increasing Axle Spacing on Tandem Axle Trailer to Use Larger Tires
  • The minimum distance between front and rear tires on a tandem axle trailer is 1 inch (when under load). If you are at 1 inch now and the trailer is not loaded then you would need to move at least one axle. This means that you would have to cut off hangers and have them welded back on in a new location by a professional welder. Spring # SP-111275 is indeed longer than # SP-198275 by 3/8 of an inch. If you went with shorter springs and longer equalizers then you could get more space between...

  • Recommended Trailer Tire to Replace ST235/80R16
  • In your tire size of 235/80R16 I would highly recommend the Taskmaster part # TTWTRTM2358016E. This tire is the right size, has a capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi which would be more than what your trailer would need, has great reviews from our customers, but mainly because unlike most trailer tires these are rated for up to 81 mph. Most are only rated for 65 which exceeding this rating can cause failure as well. We recommend ST tires over LT tires for trailers for the reasons you listed....

  • Recommended ST225/75R15 Trailer Tires for 31-Ft 5th Wheel to Avoid Tire Blowouts
  • A trailer tire's worst enemy is heat. Excessive heat will weaken a tire and lead to its premature failure. The most common causes for a trailer tire to overheat are overloading it beyond its rated weight capacity and incorrect inflation pressure. If you replace Load Range E tires with F- or G-rated tires their higher weight capacity will tend to mean reduced operating temperatures, all other things being equal. And of course, all trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum...
