Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Will pass on wear in for as we travel/use, customer service from etrailer top notch, ha d concerns of tire manufacturers dates and rep Mellissa assured me their inventory rotates quite often and as advertised she’s right, my tires delivered were manufactured August of 22, nice work e and Mellissa y’all have my business again..

by:

Far exceeded my expectations, the tires arrived in two days and they’re all spot on! Caylin was efficient and I was informed throughout the process. I replaced all six of my Goodyear Marathons with the Westlake G Rated Trailer Tires because of it’s enhanced construction, it provides confidence in towing heavy loads while Rv’ng coast to coast. My 2010 Keystone Raptor stands a little taller now. HOOH-AH.

It’s been very good so far, we traveled from the South to the West Coast from SoCal to Seattle and back. Utilizing the right tires combined with TPMS and travel speeds of 65-70 mph definitely works well.

Paul B made the experience with ordering and receiving our Westlake tires great. He helped us with the speedy delivery to guarantee we had them in time to start our adventure.

by:

Second time ordering these tires. However if you take advantage of the free shipping from etrailer.com don’t expect your order fee to be delivered on the estimated delivery date. My ordered arrived 2 days late and the customer service rep acted like I should of paid for expedite shipping because they are busy this time of year.

by:

Tires came new but 1.4 years old. It’s august 23 and the tires were 16th and 17th week of 2022

To be honest it is not unusual for the tires to be up to 2 years old. They are stored in climate controlled warehouses to make sure that they do not experience rot. In case you are worried about warranty, I can tell you the warranties on the tires start from when they are purchased and not from when they are manufactured.

by:

Wow I ordered 5 Westlake tires on 4/9/23 and they were delivered on 4/12/23 with free delivery very fast etrailer has my business for ever these tires are for my 5th wheel

by:

My 4 Westlake tires were delivered on time and in perfect condition. The DOT codes on three tires were the exact week and year of manufacture and one was only manufactured three weeks earlier. These are great results as age is more of a facture than tread wear in the RV world. I will be using the new tires on my heavy 16k lb. 5th wheel and moving one of my best old tires to be the Spare.
Really impressed with the 4k+ load rating and 14 bias ply tread of tire and the "G" rating as well. Big upgrades from my last tires.
etrailer did an excellent in shipping and communication in tracking of the order.

by:

My original tire order was delayed due to the manufacturer. The customer service rep reached out immediately to let me know of the delayed delivery date and suggested a comparable in stock tire. I received the new order within a few days.

Tire is exactly as advertised.

  • Should Westlake ST235/80/R16 Trailer Tires be Inflated to Their Max PSI on Sidewall
With trailer tires you want to inflate them to the max PSI listed on the sidewall when they are cold and any pressure fluctuations are fine as long as you aren't overloading the tire and are below the speed rating. Yours going up to 120 psi when warmed up is fine. With trailer tires a good max temperature setting is 156 degrees.

  • Who Manufactures The Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR
The Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR is from Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel, which is manufactured in China. This is unlike most tires from China in they stand behind the quality of the tire with a 5-year warranty and 2-years of complimentary roadside assistance anywhere in the USA, Canada or Puerto Rico. This rivals and beats most US made tire companies for warranty periods.

  • What is Normal PSI Increase of Trailer Tire After Being on Highway
So typically a tire will increase heat by about 50 degrees when hot from driving. And for every 10 degrees of heat you will gain about 1 psi of pressure. While I don't know what tires you have or what their max psi rating is but an increase of around 5-10 psi is pretty normal. If you had the part # WE76FR though 120 psi would be just fine.

  • Recommended 16 Inch Load Rang G Tires For A 2020 Jayco Pinnacle 5th Wheel
Going with the slightly smaller, yet higher capacity Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR will be absolutely no problem at all. The Westlake # WE76FR will have an outer diameter of 31.7 inches and a section width of 9.3 inches, whereas a Goodyear Endurance ST255/85R16 has an outer diameter of 33.07 inches and a section width of 10.04 inches. So between the 2, there really isn't too much difference in size. The # WE76FR will up the capacity of the tire to 4,400 pounds at 110...

  • Can 235/80-16 Load Range E Tire Be Replaced with Same Size in Load Range G
A 235/80-16 Load Range E tire typically has a 3520 lb capacity, while the Westlake # WE76FR Load Range G tire you looked at will have a 4080 lb capacity. You can certainly go with a higher load rated tire if you wish, as long as the combined capacity of the tires exceeds the weight of the trailer and its contents.

  • Recommended Tire Pressure for Westlake ST235/80R16 Load Range G part # WE76FR
The recommended/max pressure for the Westlake ST235/80R16 Load Range G part # WE76FR is 110 psi. With trailer tires like this it is important to always run the max psi to ensure you don't reduce your weight capacity and/or create excessive heat build up. So for this tire you'd inflate it to 110 psi when cold and any normal pressure fluctuations would be totally fine as long as you weren't exceeding the weight capacity of the tire as well as the speed rating of 75 mph.

  • Will Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire 14 Ply Tires Damage Inside of 5th Wheel
Nope, the 14 ply Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # WE76FR will not cause damage to any inside fixtures inside your 5th wheel toy hauler. It will also not be harder on sharp turns when backing into campsites.

  • Safe Max Tire Pressure for Trailer Tires with 110 Max PSI Rating
The generally accepted rule for psi increases with temperature is that for every 10 degree change there is a 2% change in psi. For tire pressures like yours like # WE76FR that require 110 psi that ends up being 2 psi for every 10 degrees of temperature change. So typically tires get up to 120 degrees when in use on the highway. So assuming you are going from about 70 degrees to 120 degrees that means a temp change of 50 degrees so you'd probably see an increase to about 120 psi. So maybe...

I lean more towards the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR as being the better of the 2 tires. It comes with a 5 year warranty and 2 years of roadside for flat tires in the US, Canada or Puerto Rico. Both tires have the same tread depth, load ratings and radial construction which performs better on the highway. The Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # PRG80235 only gives you a 2 year warranty but it does carry a slightly higher speed rating at 81MPH versus 75MPH of...

  • Best 235/80-16 Replacement Trailer Tires for RV
I recommend the West the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire, Item # WE76FR. This is a load range G suitable for use up to 4,080 lbs per tire at 110 psi. Four of these would put you at a max load of 16,320 pounds. This tire has a 75 mph speed rating and it comes with a 5-year warranty. There won't be any issues using these tires in a hot southeast climate so long as you fill them to the 110 psi rating listed on the sidewall and stay within the speed rating.

  • Best Tire Size For 2019 Keystone Montana High Country 331RL
Yes, you can safely use a tire with a 6-1/2" bead width with a wheel with a 6" rim width. Any given wheel width can have several valid tire widths that can operate on it, with the narrowest of those choices being best. From my research the factory specs for your High Country call for ST235/80R/16F tires. Tires of that sizing can fit rim widths of 6", 6-1/2", 7", and 7-1/2". While all four sizes can safely operate with that tire, the 6" or 6-1/2”" are best. Personally, I would go with...

I have another option for you, but the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # LHWL401 you were looking at are only 10-ply tires. Instead I recommend the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # WE76FR which is a 14-ply tire with a load rating of 4080lbs at 110 PSI. • Do the ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tires have to Match the Rating of the Wheels?
Your tire has to be rated for whatever weight your 2003 Travel Supreme Express 5th Wheel Trailer requires. The wheels rating doesn't necessarily have to match up with the tires. I recommend the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G item # WE76FR. This tire has a Maximum load of 4,080 lbs at 110 psi or a combined total of over 7,000 lbs.

  • Should Load Range E Tires be Upgraded to Load Range G Tires
The only reason to switch to a load range G tire (14 ply rating) like the # WE76FR over your current load range E tires would be if the current tires do not have a high enough capacity. If the current tires are underrated you will have problems and should definitely switch. More than likely the capacity of your current tires exceeds that of the trailer and this is not an issue. If you find that you need to add new tires with a higher capacity, I would be happy to help you find the correct...

  • What is the Correct Tire Pressure for a 235/80R16 Load Range G Trailer Tire
The correct tire pressure will depend on what is listed on your tire. Trailer tires should be inflated to the max psi. This could vary depending on the manufacturer, so it is important to follow what is printed on the side of the tire. For example, the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR has a max psi of 110 which can be seen in the picture below.

I can help you find the capacity of the tires on your Gooseneck trailer, but the GVWR of the trailer will depend on the weakest component. For that information I recommend contacting the manufacturer. Your tires should have the max load listed on the side based on the max psi. Multiply this number by 8 and you will have the capacity of the tires. There is not a general capacity I can give you since it varies between manufacturers. • Why Do Some Trailer Tires Have 2 Load Ratings
Certain trailer tires will indeed have two maximum load ratings, such as with the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G Item # WE76FR. This is because the tire will have a slightly different weight rating when it is used in a dually setup as opposed to a single tire (on one side of the axle) setup. The load capacity will usually be a bit less when used as a dually tire because with this setup the two tires will always wear a bit differently because of shifting weight...

Usually when we see cracking around the sidewall of a trailer tire it means it is starting to dry rot and needs to be replaced with a new tire, like the Westlake 235/80R16 # WE76FR. Tires have a lifespan of 3-6 years or 10,000-12,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you're prone to bumping into/running over curbs and you don't store your tires...
