Lightweight Trailer is Perfect for Hauling Kayaks or Canoes

MPG464-LBB In Use

This lightweight and low-profile trailer with padded bunks lets you transport your favorite kayaks or canoes. Because of the trailer's low-profile design, the crossbars sit only 22" off the ground. The lower crossbars provide a safe height to load heavy kayaks and help avoid unnecessary overhead lifting.

With a 7-1/2' tongue, this trailer offers exceptional clearance during tight turns. The extended tongue also makes it easier to back up the trailer and prevent binding than trailers with shorter tongues.

MPG561 underside bunk

Heavy-duty bunks stabilize your boat and prevent movement while traveling on uneven or rough terrain. They can be adjusted to accomdate different size hulls and eliminate boat-to-boat contact. The bunks durable padding prevents scuffs, scratches, or damage to your boat during transport. To prevent mold or mildew, the bunks have weather-resistant covers to repel moisture and water.

Submersible LED Trailer Lights

MPG535 LED tail lights

The DOT-approved tail lights on this trailer are fully submersible, so you don't have to worry about damaging the lights when loading and unloading your boat in water. Each tail light has brake, running light, and turn signal functions, as well as side marker lights and reflectors. In addition, these LED lights last longer, burn brighter, and require less power than incandescent bulbs.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring

CE48870 main harness to 4-way

The wiring for this trailer has a simple plug-and-play design, so it doesn't require any cutting or splicing to install. As you assemble the trailer, route the main wiring harness through the trailer tongue and down towards the body of the trailer. Then plug the 4-wire end of the tail light harness into the main harness.

CE48870 4-way plug

Run the wires of the tail light harness along the sides of the trailer frame and plug the individual wires into the matching wires on the side marker lights and the tail lights. The wires are color-coded so that you can easily match them up - no circuit tester is required. Once all of the wires are plugged in, use the included clips to secure the harness to the frame.

CE48870 4-way plug

When you're ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle, simply plug the trailer end of the main harness into the 4-way flat connector on your vehicle.

Leaf Spring Suspension

MPG535 leaf spring suspension

This trailer includes a leaf spring suspension system to limit road shock while you tow. A sturdy steel axle runs beneath the trailer frame. The 2 slipper springs that support the axle flex to absorb the rough motion that can occur when driving over bumpy terrain. Also, the axle, spring hangers, and tie plate are galvanized to resist rust and corrosion.

Quick and Easy Trailer Hookup

MPG535 trigger style coupler

Hooking this trailer to your vehicle is quick and easy. The trailer's coupler connects to a 2" hitch ball, and the included safety chains act as an emergency measure if the coupler accidentally disconnects from your hitch ball. A rubber coated lift handle is mounted to the coupler to provide a solid grip for lifting or maneuvering the trailer. Finally, the skid plate on the underside of the trailer tongue keeps the coupler from touching the ground.

Great versatile trailer! Easy to tow my kayaks or two 17 foot aluminum canoes, with my Subaru Forester. Trailer can easily be moved around manually, and I was able to put it together in a few hours with the supplied directions. A great product from a great dealer.

by:

Great trailer overall but the tie down system is very difficult to figure out and to use.

by:

Outstanding trailer! Easy to assemble and works perfectly! Will never roof top a kayak again!

by:

Easy to put together, fun to do!

by:

all together with Grand child 33yp. 3.5 hours. great directions. It helps to read them through before starting.

by:

Easy assembly and working great hauling 2 fishing kayaks or adding 2 smaller kayaks onto the fishing kayaks

by:

This trailer is a rock star. Loading/unloading our kayaks has never been easier. We added some SeaWing kayak carriers to this trailer and they absolutely keep the kayaks secure. We tow this behind our Honda HRV all over the great State of WA without issue. So rather than struggle with loading/unloading your kayak(s) from the roof of your car, buy this trailer. It makes life a helluva lot easier Yes, you need to assemble it, but the video is crystal clear with good directions.
We bought everything from e-trailer.com for this:
The trailer hitch mount, 2” ball assembly, wiring harness, SeaWing carriers, storage box, etc….

Has been an awesome trailer form my 10.5' raft!!

by:

excellent trailer for small paddle craft

by:

We are very happy we chose the Malone low bed kayak trailer. It arrived very well packaged, with clear instructions that made assembly a fun project. We purchased the 800lb version with 12" wheels as we felt it would tow better than the lighter option. It has proven to be well worth the price for the convenience of never having to load the roof rack again. Now our kayaks are ready to roll whenever we are. Usual great customer service from etrailer as well.

by:

Great trailer. Easy assembly, even though it's not a quick one, and good instructions. The boat bunk installed on this low bed trailer works great for launching my fishing canoe at the boat ramp just like any other boat.

by:

Assembly was straight forward. Trailer looks and feels sturdy. All pieces arrived undamaged, no pieces were missing from the kit. Ordered a long bunk and spare tire, both of which fit perfectly. I have a 14 Ft. tandem pedal drive kayak that fits nicely, definitely beats hefting it onto a roof rack. Launching from the trailer is a game changer, rather than using scupper plug wheel kit. The kayak with all accessories weighs over 180 pounds. The electrical was a simple plug and play, works like a charm. Second layer is nice to pack all the kayak parts while we travel with it, rather than taking valuable space up in the SUV.

by:

This is a fabulous product! Assembly was easy, and it served us well last season with our two 14-foot kayaks. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that six of the tiny lights in one of the red taillights went out after several uses. I haven't replaced the light yet as it still has working lights, but eventually I'll have to buy a new light fixture and splice in into the wireing harness.

Always great service ! Any problems and they step up making things right. Highly recommend Etrailer

by:

Well it finally came in over two months after ordering due to MFG back orders I have finally assembled the trailer and all my friends think it’s great. I have been roof top kayaking for many years but the constant loading unloading and reloading and unloading back home was starting to make me loose my joy of kayaking. Now with this trailer I hope to keep kayaking into my 90’s. And no back pain.

by:

Nice trailer, easy to put together except it, being the low bed cane with directions for the high bed. But Etrailef send me the pdf for the low bed.

This trailer is used to move two 80-pound kayaks around. It works great and after 1 year there have been no issues. I have taken it on several long, over 2,000-mile trips. I did upgrade the tires to a higher speed rating.

Bought the LowBed MicroSport specifically for my Blue Sky Boat Works Angler 360 kayak. Trailer works great! It's lower and makes getting the kayak on and off easier. Had no issues with the trailer assembly. LED lights work great. After one year I'm very happy I bought this trailer.

Only one issue otherwise a great trailer for my Blue Sky Boat Works Angler 360. The issue is 3 of the individual tail light LEDs have failed. To eTrailer support, does this require a whole tail light replacement or just the 3 individual LEDs?

@Michael Hello Michael, because of how the lights are made, the whole light assembly will need to be replaced. I am happy to send you warranty instructions if you want.

Solid. Very well built.

Build quality of the Malone hardware is excellent. Easy to assemble solo, just set aside a few hours and do things right the first time.

  • Can Cargo Box and Bike Rack Fit on a Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer
Hey Tanya, thanks for reaching out! To tow your trailer you'll need a ball mount with a 2" rise and for that I recommend going with the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # e38NR. This gives you a 2-3/4" rise but that will still work for your application. The Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MAL25FR can accommodate the Malone Pilot Trailer Bike Rack # MPG2100, but while the Storage Trunk # MPG481 will physically be able to fit inside the frame of your trailer, I don't believe you'll be able to...

Hello Lori, good question. The Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MAL25FR comes with 78" crossbars, so it can easily accommodate most sizes of fishing kayak. Most fishing kayaks are between like 30"-40" wide. Depending on where you place the bunks, the kayaks could be upwards of 40" wide or even more and still fit on the trailer. What kind of fishing kayaks do you have? How wide are they? We have one of these kayak trailers that we use here around the shop from time to time, and I have...

  • Best Malone Kayak Trailer That Keeps Bunks As Low As Possible
Hi Michael, thanks for reaching out! If you're looking to keep your kayak as low as possible, the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MAL25FR will be the best option. It features a low-profile design with crossbars that sit only about 22" off the ground, making loading and unloading much easier. Hey Tim, yes you could for sure launch your boat with the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer for 2 Heavy Kayaks # MAL25FR that you referenced. The angle of the bunks is adjustable so it can easily be made to match the angle of your boats hull. This also has an 800 lb weight capacity too so your boat would easily be under that. The beams are longer for the XT giving it a taller height, whereas the low bed has shorter supports. You'd be able to use the Retractable Tongue Kit for Malone MicroSport Trailers # MPG494 on the LowBed # MAL25FR, but we don't currently offer the shorter support tubes to convert the MicroSportXT # MPG460XT to a LowBed model. • Can The Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer Be Backed Into Water To Launch A Kayak
Hey Drew, Yakima does not recommend backing the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 into the water because the bearings are sealed and water could end up ruining the hubs. • Can I Add A Winch Stand And Winch To The Malone LowBed Trailer?
Hey Beth, welcome back. Yes, you can usually move both the spare tire mount and the kickstand forward on a Malone LowBed as long as there is room. Those components are clamped to the tongue, so physically sliding them closer to the coupler is doable, just make sure the tire doesn't overcrowd or obstruct the coupler. As for adding a winch, that’s a pretty common setup for kayaks and small boats, and the tongue is the right place for it. You just want enough clear space to mount a winch...

  • Can I Use Higher Speed Rated Tires on the Malone MicroSport Off-Road Kayak Trailer?
Hey Michael, happy to help. So, to answer your question, these tires have a max speed rating of 65MPH, which doesn't get you to the speed you mentioned but definitely highway ready. I did look into potential replacement tires to achieve that 70-75MPH rating but found that this increased the rigidity of the tires significantly because they carry a higher load capacity. This is going to give you a very bumpy ride, I highly recommend sticking to the posted 65MPH limit set by the manufacturer....
