Hey Art,
I checked directly with Malone for you, and the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer for 2 Heavy Kayaks # MAL25FR is made of 11 gauge steel. There is not a model with 8 foot wide crossbars, with the longest being the 86 inch wide (7 foot 2 inch) Malone MegaSport Kayak Trailer # MPG535.
