1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Dexstar 15 inch by six inch black modular steel trailer wheel with the six on five-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. Now this is a sturdy steel construction and we mentioned it is the modular design. When we say modular, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. This is excellent corrosion resistance 'cause they do a two step finishing process, which will include first an E-Coat primer and then a black powder coat finish over it. This is a high quality wheel.
It does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. Now if you notice the center cap is not included. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on the website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole right here. The diameter on this pilot hole is 4.27 inches.
And when you install your center cap, it'll go through this hole. A few dimensions we're gonna measure is the diameter and the width. And when you measure the diameter, what you're measuring is inside to inside. So in other words, the tire bead seat to bead seat. So basically if we put our tape measure on this, you'll be able to see there's your 15 inch diameter.
And the width will be the same way. You're gonna measure inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. And there's your six inch width. Now the bolt pattern on this we mentioned is a six on five-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty easy because if you notice the lug holes are directly across from each other.
So all you have to do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and you'll measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this wheel, it'll measure five-and-a-half inches. So that's telling it's a six lug five-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,860 pounds. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Dexstar 15 inch by six inch black modular steel trailer wheel with the six on five-and-a-half inch bolt pattern.

Product was shipped and arrived quickly. Wheel appears to be good quality and made of heavy steel. Ordered for spare tire on a dump trailer and was looking for a heavy duty wheel.
Great product. Ordered Sunday night was shipped out early Monday AM. etrailer has a great order tracking system that gave me great information. The two rims arrived in great condition in heavy duty packing. They will be mounted on two new tires tomorrow.

After 1 year I stand by my word...great product and quality.
They look like a well built wheel with a nice finish. I wish they came with .625" Dia. Valve stem holes instead of the .453" Dia.
I am mounting 14 ply tires that require 95 psi operating pressure.
The 100psi valve stems required the .625" hole. Must of missed that in the specs or it wasn't there.
Anyway, not a big deal.
I used a cone drill that had a .625" Dia. and drilled them out, thoroughly deburred both sides, installed what I had, mounted the tires and pumped them up to 100psi. They are holding fine. I was concerned the existing hole was so close to a radius, but they sealed fine.
I test mounted one to trailer to check fit and runout. It looks great.
I had silver rims prior and they were getting rusty and leaking in the weld seams.
I will update after a couple months of use.
When I had the tires mounted I told the guy to Balance the rims as well. He told me you don't need to balance trailer wheels. I said balance them anyway. When I picked up the rims he told me all the rims had a wobble but they all zeroed out with the weights. I guess you get what you pay for. Thought the quality would be better being made in the USA
I ordered this wheel to use as a second spare for my travel trailer. The existing spare was made in China and I even though etrailer had a matching Chinese made wheel I decided to spend a few dollars more for this as it is made in America. My existing Chinese made wheel has markings stamped on the inside of the rim noting date of mfg., size, and max load. This wheel has nothing stamped into the rim and only a paper sticker on the front with the load rating and nothing else. Someone should tell Dexstar to stamp their wheels.
So the holes for the valve stems were too small for these valve stems. I have had to purchase others that do fit. Can I return the ones that I bought to you?
etrailer is always very easy to order from as well as quick and efficient getting products delivered. These wheels were no exception. Good finish an match to the others on my fifth wheel. I would highly recommended them and always check with etrailer for my future needs.
My initial experience was not good because the five wheels I ordered were packaged poorly and got scratched up and dented during shipment. The commercial style staples that were holding pieces of cardboard to separate multiple wheels came loose and the wheels shifted around inside the boxes. Unfortunately I was in a time crunch because I was changing out the axles on my toy hauler and already had tires so I really needed the wheels so I had to keep them. I talked to Kevin at etrailer and sent in pictures and they knocked off I think 10 or 15 percent which was better than nothing. Now for the positives, wheels still look great and I am completely satisfied with the way they have held up. Even though this wasn't a great purchase I have ordered stuff from etrailer before and never had any problems. I would definitely order again from etrailer because they do have good customer service!
Items came quickly once in stock. I asked for them separately but would have lost the free shipping...good looking out! Went from old Christmas tree farm trailer to camp hauler. The updated hubs and rims were the last piece. Great customer service!
