Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (1942 Customer Reviews)

The original order arrived exactly on schedule but contained a rim of incorrect size. After talking with a sales rep, a replacement rim was on its way with no questions asked plus return freight being covered by the company. The real test of a company's customer service is how they deal with a simple mistake or anomaly. ETrailer has passed the test with flying colors and I especially appreciate the quick, courteous communications from several of their staff members.

These rims were a perfect fit for my travel trailer and they are made in the USA! From the ordering process and customer support everything was 5 stars and the shipping was just as great. I thought it would take close to a week to receive the product but 2 days later they were at my front door. This is definitely my go to place for all my trailer needs!

Perfect!!! Rims are still as good as day one!

My trailer has silver rims and i needed a spare, tried finding one at several local businesses but no one could get silver, found it on etrailer and had it in two days. Very pleased

The rims work great. Their diagram about how to measure for a bolt pattern is very helpful. Shipping was fast. Theresa was very helpful and answered emails quickly

No issues—looks great on our rPod!!!! And travels nicely

Nice wheels. Finish is holding up well.

Shipped fast and worked perfect as replacement wheels for my trailer

Added brakes to a 2900# trailer that I had for over 40 years. Needed new rims so I went with 6 bolt pattern. Everything went together without any issues.

etrailer was the only place I could find this ram that will fit my 2007 trailer. The price for the rim was very cheap and the right one I need, the seller was very helpful. etrailer has what you need. What every I need for my trailer I will shop at etrailer. Thanks for your service

Great product and fast service

Super easy ordering, and actually got my package a day early! I had 5 different items as well. Definitely going back to etrailer for any trailer parts.

Fast delivery service

I searched many vendors for replacement trailer wheels, as they are apparently fairly uncommon. Etrailer found them for me and offered them at a competitive price, with free shipping. Unfortunately, given current supply chain complications, they were not immediately available, but Etrailer's staff did a great job of keeping me informed on delivery status..

Your rim product was just the same as the OEM on my Airstream. It gives me the perfect base in which to prime and paint. I looked long and hard for a smoked black powder coat but could only find them in other designed rims. Delivery was expeditious and arrived within the week even during the COVID-19.

Perfect with no problems, looks to be a matching set.

Reasonable price, fast, free shipping.... I don't think you can do much better!

I gave you, 4 stars. I felt they should have been shipped, sooner. They seem to be top quality in craftsmanship and material. Great communication. (Thank You)

Thank you for good service. We had a issue but was promptly resolved. Good customer service.

I have used etrailer multiple times ordering items for two different RVs and my UTV. Everything was as described and priced right. This last order cemented my relationship with this company. When my order for a spare tire carrier and two tire covers was delivered it was missing one of the tire covers. I called the number on the email sent to alert me to the delivery. I’m sorry I don’t recall the gentlemans name who answered but after verifying my problem he immediately reordered and the cover came quickly. Great company!

exact replacement

etrailer is the best with products and support

Dexter makes good quality wheels they run true and have a superior finish. Love my wheels, I had 7000# trailer axles with the mobile home wheels and I just converted them to 6 lug drum hub combinations. I previously bought new backing plates and brakes from trailer. Now new wheels and tires and I feel a lot safer now.

Great wheels and the price was great too. These wheels are for the new axles I bought to increase the load capacity of my trailer. The last wheel I bought for my trailer had a load rating of 2230 lb. from Discount Tire in Las Vegas and it cost me $75.00 plus mounting and balance. As you can see this was a great price savings and these wheels are rated for 2830 pounds each.

Quality product!

Wheels are used on 10k car hauler. No issues with construction or appearance. I have bought quite a few of these wheels over the years. My only issue is that after several years they have begun to peel. Trailer is stored indoors 5 months out of the year.

Wheels are exactly as described and match my existing wheels. Road hazard took out a wheel on my trailer and opted to buy a to have a second spare as I am often on poor roads with sketchy cell coverage. Good price and quick delivery. I would have preferred them earlier as I had to alter plans (had back to back trips scheduled) due to a lack of a spare but that would have been an unreasonable expectation. All in all very pleased with the experience.

Yes, a center cap like what you have that measures 4.25 inches in diameter would fit the wheel part # AM20535 that you referenced. It has a pilot diameter that is 4.27 inches in diameter so it would fit well with a 4.25 inch cap.

  • How To Find The Correct Replacement Wheel Rim For Your Trailer
To find the correct replacement wheel you'll need to first know the bolt pattern. The first step in determining your wheel bolt pattern is counting how many bolts (or lugs) your wheel has. Typically this will be 4, 5, 6, or 8. Next, you'll measure how many inches apart the bolt holes are. These two steps together will give you your bolt hole pattern. For example, if you have a wheel with 5 bolt holes and they form a circle with a 5-1/2" diameter, you have a wheel with a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt...

  • Distance From Hub Mounting Surface of Dexstar Trailer Wheel AM20535 To Outside Edge Of Wheel
On the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20535 you were looking at the wheel measures 3" from the hub mounting surface to the outside edge of the wheel. Since this wheel and nearly all other trailer wheels have 0 offset, the hub mounting surface is located exactly in the middle of the wheel. I included a video of the # AM20535 for you to take a look at.

We do have a wide variety of 15" trailer wheels that have a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern that I have linked for you to filter through. Most of these have a pilot hole with a diameter that is about 4.25" wide, but then we do have some options, like the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20514 with a smaller 3.65" diameter pilot hole. • Can You Use Larger Pilot Hole Diameter on 15 Inch Trailer Wheel w/ 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern
Yes, you can switch from to a 15 inch wheel with a larger pilot hole diameter than what you currently have, so long as you go with a lug-centric wheel. Those are the most common (by far) and that just means the wheel centers and mounts to your hub's lugs as opposed to the hub bore. So you can go with any of the following, which all have a 4.27" pilot hole diameter and 0.453" valve stem hole diameter: - Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - White Powder Coat...

You said both 15 x 5 and 15 x 6, so I'm not sure which one you are going to, but I'll go over the options for you. First, keep in mind that the general rule of thumb is you want at least 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail. So having said that, the largest tire for a 15 x 5 wheel is a size ST205/75R15 and the largest for a 15 x 6 is a ST225/75R15: - ST205/75R15: Karrier ST205/75R15...

If this is a trailer application most likely this is the bolt pattern you need. I attached a help article on determining bolt patterns for you to check out as well.

  • What Replacement Wheels do I Need for My 2012 Trails West Horse Trailer?
From the pictures I have of your 2012 Trails West 2 trailer, it is a dual axle trailer. If this is the case, each wheel maximum weight capacity has to be a minimum of 1,625 if the gross vehicle weight rating is at 6,500 pounds. This is because each wheel capacity contributes to the overall weight capacity of the trailer. It is important to note that the tires should be rated for the actual gross towing weight capacity of the trailer and not the empty weight of the trailer. The gross towing...

  • Can 7.00-15 Tires Be Replaced by ST225/75R15 Tires?
Yes, the ST225/75R15 can be used as a replacement as long as your current wheels are 6" - 7" wide. You will want to verify this by measuring your current wheels. ST225/75R15 tires are 28" tall and 9" wide where your 7.00-15 tires are 29" tall by 8" wide. If your wheels are narrower than 6" you will need to replace them, and the correct replacement will be dependent on the bolt pattern of your current wheels.
