Getting the fit right shouldn’t be guesswork. This wheel uses a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, a pilot diameter of 3.19", and a -0.5" offset for predictable alignment. Wheel bolt size is 1/2"-20, and the valve stem hole measures 0.453". Everything is sized to standard specs so installation is simple and secure.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we can take a look at this Dexstar 12 inch by four inch silver modular steel trailer wheel with an offset. Has a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a sturdy steel construction. The design on this is a modular design wheel.
And when we say modular design, that's the one that has the round holes that go all the way around the wheel. This is a silver powder coat finish over an eco primer, so it does give you excellent corrosion resistance. And it is a high quality wheel. It does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications. It is made in the USA.
Few specs on this. The diameter, which is gonna be measured inside to inside. So, if we take our tape measure, and if we go inside to inside, you'll be on the see there's your 12 inch diameter. The width is the same way. You're gonna measure bead seat to bead seat.
So, inside to inside, there's your four inch width. Now, the bolt pattern on this one is a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that bolt pattern on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, in this case, five, what you want to do is pick any hole, let's say this one, and then you'll measure across to either one of these holes. But when you measure it, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So, on this one, if we put a ruler on it, measure four and a half inches, so that means this is a five lug four and a half inch pole pattern.
Now, we did mention this wheel has a slight offset, it's a half inch offset. And it is a negative offset. And what the offset means is this mounting surface right here, instead of being right in the center of the wheel, it actually goes back. It moves the mounting surface a half an inch back towards the trailer, which will, in turn, will move the wheel away from the trailer about a half an inch. This does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. The pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches. And if you notice, this does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. And you do wanna order the center cap by the size of this pilot hole. So, this is 3.19 inches. So, when you order a center cap, you wanna make sure you get one that has that diameter. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,520 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this Dexstar 12 inch by four inch silver modular steel trailer wheel with an offset and the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern.
