Features to know about

Built to Fight Corrosion Every Season: Galvanized Steel Construction

This 12" x 4" wheel is made of sturdy steel with a galvanized finish that protects against rust and corrosion. It’s the kind of setup that holds up to moisture, road salt, and years of use without flaking or fading. The 8-spoke pattern gives it a clean, classic look that stays sharp after countless trips.

Confidence Under Load: 1,250-lb Capacity with DOT Compliance

When you’re hauling serious weight, you want a wheel you can trust. This galvanized steel rim is rated for 1,250 lbs and meets Department of Transportation standards, so it’s built for real-world towing. The zero offset centers the load evenly on your hub for balanced performance under pressure.

Straightforward Fitment That Just Works: 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern

Fitment is easy thanks to the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, 3.19" pilot diameter, and standard 1/2"-20 wheel bolt size. It lines up cleanly with most standard hubs so you can mount it without hassle and get back on the road fast.

Ready for the Pressure: Works with High-Pressure Tires and Valve Stems

This wheel can pair with tires inflated up to 80 psi as long as you stay within its 1,250-lb limit. It’s compatible with high-pressure valve stems like part # AM20907, rated for up to 100 psi. That means you can match it with tires built for heavier loads or higher pressures and still maintain safe operating limits.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Review of the Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Americana 12 inch by four inch Galvanized Spoke Steel Trailer Wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now, this wheel is a nice, sturdy steel construction. You can see it as a multi-spoke pattern. And if you notice, it has the galvanized finish over the whole wheel, and that's to provide superior protection from rust and corrosion.

This is ideal for marine applications. This wheel is a high quality wheel, it does meet the Department of Transportation specifications. Now, if you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want one, we do sell those separately on our website. You just need to make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter of this pilot hole right here, which is 3.19 inches.

A few measurements on this. If we measure the diameter, which is always measured inside the inside, so if we put this ruler on it, you can see there's your 12 inch measurement for the diameter. The width is the same way. It's bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside, and there's your four inch width measurement. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern.

If you wanted to measure that on a wheel like this that's an odd number of lugs, which is five lugs, what you'll want to do is you can pick any hole, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes. But when you measure it, it's measured from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So on this one, it'll measure four and a half inches, which means it's a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a lug size of a half inch by 20. And the last thing is the weight capacity on the wheel.

Weight capacity on this wheel is 1250 pounds. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Americana 12 inch by four inch Galvanized Spoke Steel Trailer Wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern.

Excellent product

by:

Galvanized rim for trailer spare. We live near salt water, and I only buy galvanized rims. Had to buy the tire, valve stem, and rim separately as this size radial tire is not sold as a combo-package, only sell bias ply tires on painted rims as combo package. If there was an option to have etrailer mount the tire, I didn’t see it. Fortunately, some of us old guys still know how to put a tire on a rim. The tire, rim & high pressure valve stem are all excellent quality (you always have to smooth the galvanized “barnacles” on a new rim in the seal area). Shipping & delivery was fast, and the tire mounted and inflated easily.

by:

Solid product, happy w/my purchase.

by:

I purchased 2 galvanized wheels and 2 galvanized hubs. The box they shipped the items in was sealed well with staples and was robust, but the items weren't separate well at all. Whomever packaged the order placed a few pieces of packing paper inside. All the items were tossed around and dinged up. The threaded wheel lugs on the hub were dented and needed to be filed and thread chased. Other than that, the products seem nice, but time will tell.

by:

Be careful ordering tires and rims from this company, I received my order as three separate pieces, the tire was not mounted to the rim. If there was a place to specify that I wanted them pre-mounted it was not easy to find on their website. Next time I am going to my local [farm store].

Thank you for your review. We do not mount any tires but we do have options available that come pre-mounted. I have attached some of your size:

Worked great for my application!

by:

Nice wheel. Two things from being 5 star. One, it would be good if they buffed it out after the zinc platting (galvanizing process). There are a few rough spots where the tire needs to seal. Second, the add indicates that there is a valve stem included with the wheel. I wasn't. As a suggestion, it would be good to make it easier to find the weight capacity and match it to the tire capacity. For example, If this wheel is only rated for up to a load range D tire, then say so in the specs. Not a big issue but this would make it easier to match wheels and tires. I was using this with load range E tires I already had, but the wheel, based on the weight numbers is really only a D.

Just fine. No issues at all.

by:

These were an excellent, inexpensive and no-maintenance replacement for the standard white painted wheels on my aluminum utility trailer. Like all such wheels, mine started to rust after a year or so and I just put up with them for at least five years. Who has time to refinish and paint utility trailer wheels? I did not want the extra cost or look of aluminum wheels on a basic, well-used trailer. These galvanized wheels, along with the E-rated tires and stainless wheel nuts I bought with them, were the perfect solution for my application.

As usual, etailer had the right products at a good price, and with timely delivery. (My only suggestion to etrailer was to offer these wheels and E-rated tires as a package with the tire already mounted, as I believe it is a logical offering for folks with utility trailers.)

A year later the wheels, tires and whee4l nuts still look new. Every time I see them Im glad I spent the small extra amount they cost compared to the basic painted wheels. I feel the same way about the e-rated tires. After 7000 plus miles, they look like new and I know that they can handle the maximum load rating of the axle. I would also note that I had the wheels and tires balanced, which is add that having the wheels and tires balanced is key to their long-term performance.

by:

These are a great product. The quality of the galvanization is better than I expected. These will work well for my application.

by:

Have used the rims about 1 year and am pleased with the performance. Look good and have had no issues. I bought these steel rims to replace aluminum rims that eventually bent a little after a few years of use.

I use them on trailer for 14' boat and fish frequently.

  • What 4.80-12 Tire on Galvanized Wheel do You have for My Boat Trailer Used on Sometimes Saltwater?
Hello Todd, We definitely have something for you, but we do not a radial tire and wheel combo, as we only have that tire and wheel combo in a bias. It depends on your bolt pattern, and the weight of your boat to decide what the best option for you. You will want one of the following: - If you have a 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern and your boat does not weigh more than 2,500 pounds (assuming you need 2 wheels) # AM30670 - If you have a 4 on 4" bolt pattern and your boat does not weigh more...

  • How to Switch to Radial Trailer Tires From 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tires
Hi Dan, You're right that radial trailer tires are a much, much better option for highway driving than bias tires because radials run cooler. This means they flex more for better traction and less chance of a blowout on long trips. And you can switch from 205/65-10 bias tires to radials, but you'll need a different size tire and new wheels because there aren't 205/65-10 radials. A 205/65-10 measures 20.5" in diameter and 8.1" wide, and a close option is a ST145/R12 tire which is 5.7"...

Hey Glen, There are 5.30-12 tires on a galvanized, 5-lug rim that are 8-ply, but none that are 10 ply.
