Features to know about

Made for Serious Highway Miles: Load Range E with 87-mph Speed Rating

When you’re logging long highway miles, the Maxxis ST225/75R15 radial tire keeps its cool. It’s built with a Load Range E, 10-ply rating and handles up to 2,830 lbs at 80 psi, giving you strength without excess bulk. The N speed rating (87 mph) means it’s stable and confident on the open road. Radial construction runs cooler than bias tires, cutting down on heat buildup during those long hauls in heavy or hot conditions.

Balanced and Ready to Roll: Bead-Balanced Tire and Wheel Assembly

This combo comes pre-mounted and bead balanced right from the factory, so there’s no need for extra shop time or external weights. Internal tire balancing beads automatically adjust as you drive, keeping things smooth mile after mile. That design helps extend tread life and reduces vibration—so when you bolt it on, you can hit the road with a steady, balanced feel from the start.

Built Strong for Heavy Loads: Reinforced Sidewall and High-Load Compound

Hauling gear or equipment puts stress on a tire, but this one’s built to take it. The reinforced sidewall stays stable under repeated load cycles, while the high-load tread compound keeps heat under control even when carrying heavier loads. A dual-cord body casing adds more strength and damage resistance. It all adds up to reliable performance under weight so you can tow with confidence every time.

Reliable Wheel Strength and Fit: 15" x 6" Steel Wheel with 6 on 5-1/2 Pattern

The included black modular steel wheel delivers both toughness and clean looks. It measures 15" diameter x 6" wide with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, using standard 1/2"-20 conical-seat lug nuts. A zero offset keeps the load centered over your bearings, and each wheel carries a 2,830-lb capacity with a 4.29" pilot diameter for a secure fit over standard hubs.

Covered When It Counts: Maxxis Warranty Support

It’s good to know the backing matches the build. This setup includes Maxxis’ 1-year No Excuses Guarantee plus 2 years of roadside assistance, a 5-year limited warranty on radial ST tires, and a lifetime structural warranty on the wheels. That kind of coverage means you can tow knowing help is there if something unexpected happens.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

I’ve been really impressed with the Maxxis M8008 tires. If you’re looking for a high-quality trailer tire but don’t want to pay top-shelf prices, these are worth a look. Maxxis has a solid reputation, and the M8008s often get compared to the Goodyear Endurance, but they usually cost a bit less, which makes them a good value in my book.

The build quality seems excellent. The sidewalls feel sturdy, and the tread design looks just as well-made as some of the more expensive brands. What stands out most to me is how well they handle heat. Maxxis uses a proprietary tread compound that keeps the tires cooler on long hauls that gives me confidence that they will hold up over time.

Another nice touch is that they come pre-balanced from the factory. It’s a small detail, but it really helps smooth out the ride and cuts down on vibration.

Overall, I’d say the M8008 is a dependable, well-built tire that performs like a premium option without the premium price tag. If you tow often and want something reliable and cost-effective, these are hard to beat

  • Can ST225/75R15 Tires Replace 8.75-16.5 Tires on Tandem Axle Trailer
Hey Mike! Tires like the Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire # MXS77FR can replace the 8.75-16.5 tires on your trailer. Going to a smaller size is not really a concern as long as the tires have a high enough capacity to handle your trailer. The Maxxis tires are only available as part of a wheel and tire combo at this time leaving this and the # MXS99FR with the powder coated steel wheel as the only option. If you want a galvanized wheel you can use the Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6"...

Thanks for reaching out, Nick! I'm not 100% sure what your bolt pattern is so I'll include a few different options. Some of the numbers you gave are OEM number so based off that I THINK your bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-1/2. You will want to double check just to make sure. • Are The Maxxis 15" Wheel And Tire Combos Pre-Balanced At The Factory?
Hey Scott, they come bead-balanced from the factory, so you can bolt them on and go. Some trailer wheels and tires don't get balanced at all, which is usually fine, but some people complain about vibrations, so this is one way to combat that right out the factory. What trailer do you have? We have several options depending on what your setup is like: -Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Eagle Aluminum Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 # MXS77FR -Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Black Modular...

  • Replacement Wheels And Tires For Single Axle Trailer With 5,200lb Axle And Electric Brakes
Absolutely, Brian - this combo # MXS99FR is ideal for 5,200- to 6,000-lb axles. The 15 inch x 6 inch black modular steel wheel and tire are rated at 2,830 lbs each, which pairs perfectly with your 5,200lb axle. It uses 1/2"-20 conical lug nuts, and the wheel’s 4.29" pilot diameter fits perfectly over standard 6-lug trailer hubs. Electric brakes don’t affect compatibility - just ensure your hub pilot is 4.29" or smaller for the wheel to seat properly. Would you like me to link the correct...

  • Does The Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Black Modular Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 MXS99FR Have Offset?
Great question, April. The wheel included with # MXS99FR has a zero offset, meaning the mounting surface sits dead center in the rim. That keeps the load evenly spread across your bearings - exactly what you want for most 6-lug tandem-axle trailers. Do you happen to know your axle spacing? I can double-check fender clearance if you’d like. Or if you tell me which trailer you’re running, I can confirm for sure. Off the top of my head, though, I’m very confident you won’t need any offset...

  • Replacement Wheels And Tires for Tandem Cargo Utility Trailer With 5,200lb Axles And 225/75R15 Tires
Yes, Dawn - that trailer of yours runs 5,200-lb axles with 6-on-5-1/2 hubs, so the # MXS99FR fits perfectly. Each tire is rated 2,830 lbs at 80 psi, giving plenty of capacity and a smooth, cool-running ride at highway speed. Do you often camp in hot climates? Heat management makes a big difference in tire longevity.

  • Is The Maxxis ST225/75R15 Tires On Black Modular Wheel Good For Cross-Country Highway Use?
It sure is, Alan. The Maxxis ST225/75R15 radial on the # MXS99FR has an N speed rating 87 mph, which is among the best you’ll find in a trailer tire. The radial design runs cooler than bias tires, making it ideal for long highway hauls. Just maintain 80 psi cold for full capacity and even tread wear. A really nice benefit is the pre-balanced tires that have balancing beads in them; this means you won't have to spend money and time getting them balanced at a shop. Do you use a tire pressure...

  • Is Maxxis ST225/75R15 Tire w/ 15" Wheel 6 on 5-1/2 MXS99FR Fine For 1/2" Studs On Hubs?
Yes, Tony, you’re good to go. This wheel included in # MXS99FR uses 1/2-20 conical-seat lug nuts, which are standard on most (not all) trailer axle/hub setups. But luckily this one does indeed fit your setup as long as you have the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and need the 225/75R15 tire size. These come pre-mounted and already balanced with internal balancing beads. Just torque to 90–100 ft-lbs and recheck after 50–100 miles of towing. Do you already use a torque wrench for your trailer...

Hey Matt thanks for the picture! The Kenda Karrier KR53 ST225/75R15 LR D Radial Trailer Tire item # KE55JV looks to match every specification of the tire I see in your picture but you'll need to take one more measurement before I can confirm they'll fit. • Do 225/75R15 Tires On 6 on 5-1/2" Wheels Come Pre-Balanced And Ready To Hit The Road?
Good question, Julie. They actually pre-match the tire and wheel # MXS99FR for balance at the factory with internal balancing beads, so no spin balancing is needed! These come ready to install and tow. If you log lots of highway miles or notice vibration in past tires, these will be a smoother upgrade. How often are you on the road? I can suggest a quick air-pressure and rotation routine that fits your mileage.

Yes, Kevin, with four of these rated at 2,830 lbs each, you’ve got 11,320 lbs total capacity, which is right in the sweet spot for a 10K trailer. The bead-balanced tires help reduce vibration on long runs. Do you know what size tire you have? If you use it in salt water a lot, I’d switch to a galvanized or aluminum setup for better corrosion resistance. Make sure the included 225/75R15 tire is the right size for your trailer!
