Question:
Currently have 8.75-16.5 Load E tires on 9999 GVWR tandem trailer used in saltwater. 6 lug 5.5. Fully loaded boat and trailer weigh just short of 9000 so not using full capacity of trailer. I am not a fan of the lack of ion for the 8.75 size. I see in other QandA recommendation for the 235/80/16 requiring new wheels. I dont see much pointing to the 225/75/15 E size which would also exceed the load rating of my current 8.75s. Need to make tight turns when parking trailer at home so wondering if the smaller diameter 225 might help a bit when compared to the 8.75 and certainly to the 235? Is the 225 a credible possibility or am I missing something? The Maxxis M8008 seems to be a good tire but not available on galvanized wheel or tire only. The aluminum mounted options on your site are more than I want to spend based on age of trailer. Do you sell tire only or galvanized mounted? Thanks

Hey Mike! Tires like the Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire # MXS77FR can replace the 8.75-16.5 tires on your trailer. Going to a smaller size is not really a concern as long as the tires have a high enough capacity to handle your trailer. The Maxxis tires are only available as part of a wheel and tire combo at this time leaving this and the # MXS99FR with the powder coated steel wheel as the only option.
If you want a galvanized wheel you can use the Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Galvanized Finish # AM20534. Then you can add a tire like the Karrier # KE63KV or Tamarack # TA46AR.

Hey Mike, how did things work out with the 225/75R15 tires for your tandem trailer? Did the smaller diameter help with those tight turns when parking at home? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between those tire sizes.
