225/75R15 Boat Trailer Wheel And Tires That Are Okay For Occasional Fresh Water Launches
Published 10/13/2025 >
Question:
Are these wheels okay for a boat trailer that sees occasional fresh-water launches?

Expert Reply:
Yes, Shawn, the black powder-coated steel on the # MXS99FR holds up well to fresh-water use. Just rinse after each launch to keep the finish looking sharp. If you use it in salt water a lot, I’d switch to a galvanized or aluminum setup for better corrosion resistance.
Make sure the included 225/75R15 tire is the right size for your trailer! They are bead balanced from the factory, unlike most trailer tires, so you won't have to take it to get balanced. It will be smooth right out the gate!
How often do you launch each season? That’ll help me recommend whether a corrosion spray or different finish would hold up best.
