When you’re hauling serious weight, you need a setup that holds steady mile after mile. The Maxxis ST235/80R16 radial tire is load range G with a 14-ply rating and handles up to 4,080 lbs at 110 psi. It’s matched with a 16" x 6" wheel built to the same capacity, so you’re covered for demanding hauls without overbuilding your trailer. The high-load tread compound keeps heat under control, and the reinforced sidewall stays stable through repeated load cycles.
You don’t have to make a stop at the tire shop. This assembly comes pre-mounted and balanced using internal tire balancing beads, so it’s smooth from the first mile. That means no external weights, no extra setup, and less vibration on the road. It’s already aired and ready to bolt on, saving time while giving a stable, even ride right out of the box.
Long stretches of highway and hot pavement won’t faze this tire. The radial construction and speed rating L give it stability up to 75 mph with strong tracking and traction at speed. The rib pattern design helps reduce irregular wear for longer service life, while the premium inner liner slows air loss for consistent inflation over time.
Built to last through tough weather and rough roads, the black powder-coated wheel resists rust and road grime season after season. Steel lug nut inserts protect bolt holes from wear and help reduce the need for re-torquing after use. It’s the kind of durable finish that not only holds up but also gives your trailer a clean, upgraded look.
Unexpected flats happen, but Maxxis keeps you covered. The assembly includes a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee for free replacement if the tire fails under normal use, plus 2 years of 24/7 roadside assistance across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The radial ST tires carry a 5-year limited warranty and the wheels have a lifetime structural warranty—peace of mind built right in.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"
Ratings & Reviews
Trailer tires ride great and handle the weight well. The balancing beads do there job for a smooth ride.
I’ve been really impressed with the Maxxis M8008 tires. If you’re looking for a high-quality trailer tire but don’t want to pay top-shelf prices, these are worth a look. Maxxis has a solid reputation, and the M8008s often get compared to the Goodyear Endurance, but they usually cost a bit less, which makes them a good value in my book.
The build quality seems excellent. The sidewalls feel sturdy, and the tread design looks just as well-made as some of the more expensive brands. What stands out most to me is how well they handle heat. Maxxis uses a proprietary tread compound that keeps the tires cooler on long hauls that gives me confidence that they will hold up over time.
Another nice touch is that they come pre-balanced from the factory. It’s a small detail, but it really helps smooth out the ride and cuts down on vibration.
Overall, I’d say the M8008 is a dependable, well-built tire that performs like a premium option without the premium price tag. If you tow often and want something reliable and cost-effective, these are hard to beat
