Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Saris Solo Single Bike Carrier with bike adapter bar

A trunk-mounted bike rack doesn't get any simpler than this. Just take it out of the box and strap it to your vehicle. It has no moving parts and it's small so you can easily store it in your trunk or garage when you're not riding.

Soft Rubber Cradles and Anti-Sway Strap

Saris Solo Single Bike Carrier with adjustable armsSaris Solo Single Bike Carrier with adjustable arms mounted on vehicle

Soft, rubber cradles with ratcheting straps firmly grip your bike's frame at 2 points.

Saris Solo Single Bike Carrier anti-sway strap

The integrated, cam-buckle anti-sway strap grips your bike by the seat tube or down tube, helping to prevent front-to-back sway. This minimizes bike-to-car contact during transit.

Fixed-Position Dual Arms

It has dual arms that provide better bike support than single-arm racks. They are designed to accommodate women's, children's, and alternative bike frames. The straight arms hold your bike up at an angle for optimal clearance from your vehicle and the ground.

Easy Installation

The rack is easy to set up on your trunk or hatch. Place the rack on the center of the back of your vehicle with the shorter, rubber padded legs on top. These rubber pads protect your paint and are slip-resistant to help prevent the rack from shifting during transit.

4 Extra-long nylon straps anchor the rack in place on your trunk or hatch with steel hooks. They are vinyl-coated to prevent scratches and scuffs and are individually labeled to indicate where each hook should be placed for a proper install. Each strap has an easy-to-use ladder-lock buckle to tighten it in place.

I bought this carrier for a 2014 Nissan Maxima. The price, recycled plastic and design all appealed to me. I gave it only 3 stars because I learned - too late for my first ride - that the button on the buckle that the cradle straps pass through does not have enough clearance to release the straps. The button makes contact with the frame of the cradle without releasing the straps. On the video there is much more clearance to depress the button than on my unit. When I got home I used a flat head screwdriver inserted into the back of the buckle to pry up the buckle so the strap could slide. Not ideal but better than having the carrier take my bike hostage.

Nice to hear from you Jeffrey. You definitely have a very frustrating yet unique issue with your bike rack. I reached out to Saris because this isn't something I have dealt with before. I am going to get back to you on some tips to hopefully fix that!

by:

Happy with this product. Super fast delivery. The carrier fit my 2017 VW Altrack and was easy to install. My bike stayed secure through an 11 hour drive There is no way to lock the bike on the carrier so you will need to remove it if you stay at a hotel or camp ground overnight. It’s very easy to remove and reinstall on the carrier. I did need to wrap one of the pedals to keep it from scratching my car. The pedal could also be removed but I found it easier to add protective padding. I definitely will use this carrier again, for local trails and for further trips.

by:

Super easy to use and remove. Just pull the straps tight and secure your bike to the loops. Use a piece of styrofoam or cardboard between the bike or bike pedal and your truck lid to prevent any scratching of the paint on your car.

by:

I was very impressed with the response time. My order was shipped within 2 hours of placing the order, during one of the busiest times of the year (Christmas). I bought the bike holder for my son and was looking for a quality product that was easy to use. I am very happy with my purchase. I also appreciate the follow up email from the owners. Well done.

  • Easier to Install/Use Trunk Bike Rack for 2003 Ford Focus Wagon
We have somewhat simpler trunk bike racks that fit your 2003 Ford Focus Wagon but the Saris Solo part # SA102 that you mentioned does not fit your vehicle so I would not recommend it for you. The Thule OutWay # TH45JV would be the simplest option since it only uses 2 straps to secure to the vehicle. Others require 4-6 straps which is a bit more involved. This also has anti-sway cages on the frame cradles and is much more adjustable so you'll have a much more stable and secure trunk solution...

  • Saris Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2014 Honda CRV
I checked with Saris and they do not list the Saris Solo part # SA102 as a fit for your 2014 Honda CRV. This is considered a trunk mounted bike rack, but like you noticed some of these styles of racks can fit on hatches or on the back of an SUV. For a similar Saris trunk rack that will fit your vehicle I would recommend the Saris Guardian 2 bike rack part # SAR93FR. I attached a review video for you to check out as well. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without...

  • Will the Saris Solo Bike Carrier Work WIth An All City Space Horse Bike And A 2015 Toyota Prius C?
Yes, since your All City Space Horse bike only weighs 25-lbs, and the Saris Solo Bike Carrier # SA102 has a maximum carrying capacity of 35-lbs, you will be well within the limit and it'll work great for you! This rack also has soft rubber, anti-sway cradles to prevent any bike-to-car contact, is made in the USA, and will easily store in your trunk or garage due to it's compact size.

  • How Does Saris Solo 1 Bike Rack SA102 Fit Most Vehicles
I attached a review video that covers how the Saris Solo 1 Bike Carrier # SA102 installs on a vehicle. I don't know what specific vehicles you'd be renting though so it's hard to get more specific than that. It's going to be easier on you to request a vehicle that does not have a spoiler too.

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack to Carry Electra Townie Womens Bike on a 2001 Ford Escape
Both the Hollywood Racks Expedition, part # HRF6-2, and the Saris Solo, part # SA102, are confirmed to fit your 2001 Ford Escape. Even though both racks fit I believe there's a better option. For almost every vehicle with a rear hatch the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top, part # HRF2, is the best fit. It's specifically designed for hatchbacks. You'll need an adapter bar for an Electra Townie on any hanging bike rack. I recommend the Swagman Deluxe, part # 64005.

The Saris Solo 1 Bike Carrier - Fixed Arms - Trunk Mount # SA102 is not a fit for your 2009 Hyundai Sonata. For a compatible rack for your vehicle, I recommend the similar Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier - Adjustable Arms - Trunk Mount - Black # SA805BL which is a confirmed fit. The lower legs will rest on your bumper for a proper fit on your vehicle. It looks like most sub-models of the Electra Townie are under the 35 lb weight capacity of the Saris Solo Bike Carrier part # SA102 so it should work well but if you have a model with step-through frame (most do) then you will also need the Saris Bike Beam Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # SA3040.

The trunk-mount bike rack I recommend for your 2006 Beetle is the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier, part # SA805BL.
