My little Aluma trailer was too big for the bolts and no lug nuts with the factory studs/bolts,but It’s heavyduty the plate took 60 ft.lbs and didn’t bend
by:
The tire mount arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It is very sturdy and constructed well, but like others have stated it wont fit a square rv bumper without some modification. I used a jigsaw with a fine tooth metal blade and cut the two holes out larger on the mount then drilled the holes on the plate with a 1/2” drill bit to align with the modified square holes on the mount. See the picture and it will make sense. It’s too bad they didn't just design it to fit a 4” square rv bumper in the first place, so thats why 4 stars. But with a little easy machine work and some silver spray paint to touch up it works. Its the only solution for getting the spare tire to sit up on top of the bumper and not behind it so you can use a rack and it’s expensive but solves my problem.

Still good after a year, works perfect for the application. Now if they could just get it sized right for a square bumper, but if can do some mechanic work you can fix it.

@David Besides a little DIY work, I am glad it is working just how you need it. I appreciate the feedback as well, something I will definitely pass along for future ideas. Great to hear you got it working though. What kind of trailer did you end up putting this on?
by:
I looked elsewhere for a tongue mount spare tire carrier with no luck. I thought, etrailer has always had what I need so I looked here. The first search and I found this mount and it's perfect! You can see in the photos that it fits snug against the rock shield/tool box. I left some space under the tire and I tried to align the two bolts perfectly so that when I remove the tire it will be easy to put back on again. As an added benefit my tool box cover has something to rest against when its open, the tire. The lid didn't have a stop on it. When I opened it the lid would hang on the hinge and I know that wasn't good for the hinge in the long run. I did a live chat to ask what size lug nuts I needed to hold the tire on. It was quickly answered to use 1/2 inch lug nuts. Advance Auto had them for $2.50 each and they were open so the bolt threads didn't hit a stop when I screwed the nuts on. I'm very pleased with the purchase and will continue being one of their loyal customers.

After a year I still love it. We use the trailer every month, April - November, to take the Cam-AM Spyder camping with us. The tire is held securely and in the perfect place on this trailer.

@Rob Thanks for the continued feedback! I can't quite tell from the trailer; do you load the Cam-AM Spyder up into the trailer, or you tow the trailer with the Spyder? Either way, I'm sure that's a great conversation starter!

It a quality, well built spare tire mount. I installed today without any issues. Thank you.

Very good.

by:
After having been on the trailer for over two years now, it is still as solidly mounted as the day I installed it. Have not had to tighten any bolts due to vibration or extensive use. The trailer had been towed for 1000s of miles in the Pacific Northwest, sometimes on very rough roads, so bolts loosening is a very real possibility. I am very pleased with this and am seriously considering getting them for all my trailers that lack spare tire mounts.
by:
It mounts on the rear number but the tire is still way out
I cut it apart revised it so my tire actually sits almost on the bumper now

I'm glad you were able to make it work with some modification. Since it's designed to fit trailer tongues it's not always the best fit for an RV bumper, but we've seen people make it work with a few changes.

by:
I wanted to store my spare tire and wheel in the nose of my enclosed trailer and did not want to attach it to the wall as my trailer is totally of aluminum construction. Normally I fabricate my ideas as typically cannot find something I like or is not made well enough as I am an engineer and fabricator. This one quality built item is of a great design with robust materials and quality welding and powder coating. Its design will accommodate just about any wheel and tire combo you have. The only thing I needed to do to mount it inside and go through the floor was to get longer carriage bolts to accommodate the additional thickness of the flooring. It not only looks great but also is as solid as a rock. Even though the universal mounting fit well, I decided to make a custom wheel mounting plate that fit my specific unit symmetrically and used fasteners with the same thread as my factory lug nuts. Enclosed a print if you would like to make one for yourself. It fits a 5 lug 4-1/2” bolt wheel.
by:
Exactly what I needed to ad spare to my car hauler. Heavy duty and holds apare tire sturdy.
by:
This is a great Spare Tire holder, very well built, very sturdy. Not flimsy like other spare carriers .

I added it to my motorcycle trailer, spare tire is mounted out of the way too.
by:
Pictures showing measurements are incorrect, inside measurements are 3-1/2” not 4” as stated. I had to modify bolt holes to fit a 4” square tube bumper. Mount is installed and looks like it will work for me.

Aw man! You are right! I just had the part pulled to remeasure and its narrower like you said. I am glad youre able to make it work. I am going to have our info updated so this doesnt happen to anyone else. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

by:
I ordered this for my box trailer as I needed to get the spare tire out of the box. The carrier is very well made, nice craftsmanship. I also had to buy longer bolts as my trailer has a 5 inch frame, I knew about this when I ordered, not an issue. Easy to install, great product.
by:
This was the only spare tire carrier I could find that would work with my Ridgeline fish house! There are interference limitations on the tongue due to the tongue jack and house lowering mechanism and this product worked perfectly!
Box was damaged in shipping but part was undamaged. I just wish it came with lug nuts. 1/2"x20 if your're wondering.
by:
It was easy to install and fit on my trailer tongue just fine. Appears to be solid and well built. I also got the spare tire and wheel from etrailer. It's one of those be sure to take it, but don't want to use it items.
by:
Very nice product.
by:
Expensive and heavy but indestructible. Make slightly lighter version of this and I’ll give you 5

Still holding the tire. Its heavy which means it will outlast the trailer. Expensive but would still buy it.

@Dan Glad to hear things are holding up a year later as they should Dan! Sometimes we have to spend a little more than what we would like in the beginning to make sure we get something that lasts! What kind of trailer did you put this on?
by:
Great product as advertised and great service. Will definitely buy from e-trailers again.

Still just like new, it has worked great!

by:
Very well made spare tire mount made of quality steel. Great workmanship!
by:
Very easy installation. Strong, secure storage for the spare tire. Solved the issue I have had for years storing the spare tire for my open car hauler. I should have bought this years ago.
by:
It will not work for my application. I tried it on my trailer but the distance from the base of the body to the bottom of where tire would be is nine inches my spare tire is 131/2 inches. This wouldn't even work if placed a spacer between the bumper and the spare carrier base wouldn't work.
by:
Great product
by:
The product ordered was manufactured by DEMCO and arrived in a timely manner. That was the positive part. When attempting to mount the tire carrier on the trailer tongue it was very apparent that vertical channel onto the tire mounts was welded out of square to the mounting base resulting in the tire noticeably leaning forward. I reached out to the manufacturer with photos and measurements and they acknowledged that it should be welded at a right angle, but I should not be concerned to be satisfied with the $[XX] product. The manufacturers customer service was responsive, but offered nothing to resolve the problem. I would purchase a product from this manufacturer.

Hey, Kenneth. Let me see what I can do for you about this. We will be in touch!

by:
Great addition to the our tear drop trailer tongue. It was very easy to install and has been great to keep our spare close!
by:
Spare tire mount is VERY heavy, actually a bit too heavy in my opinion. Adds a lot of unnecessary tongue weight. Also it did not include lug nuts to mount the tire, therefore 4 stars because I have to disassemble it to remove a bolt to take to the auto parts store to find lug nuts. Definitely should be included for what this thing cost!

Since it is common for the lug nuts to come with your spare tire, it is not required for the lug nuts to come with this carrier. If you can provide the size of the nuts you are needing, I would be more than happy to help you find some.

by:
I love the sturdiness of this item, however the description clearly states that it fits 4"X4" and it does not. The clearance between the mounting bolts is only 3.5" and this did not work for the use I bought it for. Because of the strong heavy duty manufacture of unit I am keeping it and I hired a welder to make it work for my application.

I measured the bolts and youd have to install the tire stand head on and not sideways. Ill see if that is information we can add to our site. Thanks for letting us know!

by:
That is a great Spare Tire Mount. Very stout. It gets the Spare Tire completely out of the way.

Thanks.
