Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

  • Looking For Axle Leaf Springs For A Small Single Axle Trailer
Hello Zane, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, we do not carry any leaf springs that are this long. The longest spring we have is 30-1/2" long, and these are rated for much larger axles than yours. For a small single axle trailer, most of our springs will be between 20" and 26" long. For example the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # e77SR is a common option for small single axle trailers. It may be difficult to find a direct replacement for your spring....

  • Parts Needed to Add CE Smith Trailer Axle to Trailer
Hey Jay, so the CE Smith Trailer Axle # CES84XR is a 1.8k axle so for leaf springs the part # e77SR would work great as this is for a 2k trailer axle. Then for a u-bolt kit you'd want the part # CE23102. For a hanger kit part # APS4. Is this an a-frame trailer or a pole tongue? Boat trailer so the lights need to be submersible? Do you have an idea as to how big of wheels/tires you'd need?

  • 2,000 lb Axle Leaf Spring Recommendation for Trailer that has 26-1/4 inch Long Springs
Since trailer leaf springs tend to stretch over time the key to picking out the correct replacement is to go with one slightly shorter than what your current one measures. So a 26 inch long spring would most likely be what you need. For a 2,000 lb axle leaf spring that measures 26 inches in length we have the # e77SR which will fit and work well.

  • How Can I Figure Out What Leaf Springs I Need For My 5x8 Landscape Trailer
Hey Matt, thanks for reaching out. Have you checked underneath the trailer to see if there is a tag or sticker on the axle? That is the best way to know the weight capacity. Without that it can be tough. If you can find a part number on the hub, we might be able to use that to find the weight capacity. Idler hubs should have a number cast on the back of the hub, so if you can provide that I am happy to look into it. You could try measuring the axle tube diameter. That will help to narrow...

  • What Hanger Kit To Use For Tandem Axle Trailer With 2,000 lb Axles
Hello Torrey, thanks for reaching out. Generally with a 2,000 lb axle setup you would want each hanger to be the same height. Using a taller hanger will increase the deck height, and shorter hangers will bring it lower. So if you want a lower ride, you could use a kit like the # APT9 kit which comes with 2-1/2" tall hangers. Or to bring it higher use # APT5 which is 3-1/4" tall hangers. This could also help get you more clearance between the tires and fenders if needed. I have linked...

Hey Wray, do you know the length and capacity of your current springs? We don't have a way to look up what your camper would have but if the axle is rated for 2,000 lb and the spring is 26 inches from eye bolt to eye bolt then this would be what you need.

  • Leaf Spring Recommendation for Single 3,500 lb Axle Converted to Tandem Setup
Hey Dale, I would go with a 2,000 lb rated spring like the etrailer part # e77SR if you were to switch to a tandem setup. This will still be more capacity than needed overall but won't be so overkill that ride quality suffers. Then for a hanger kit the part # AP233-H248 would be a really great option that comes with everything you'd need to mount up a second axle and leaf springs. To pick out a replacement axle though you would need to know the distance from hub face to hub face as well...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement For Sagging Trailer Leaf Springs
It's pretty easy to determine the correct replacement leaf springs for your trailers, and there's different ways for double-eye springs and slipper springs. You do have to account for the sag, so go with ones that measure shorter than what you currently have. There is't a formula for this but a good rule for springs that have really sagged a lot is about 1/2" or so shorter. Then for double-eye springs all you need to do is measure your current leaf springs from center-to-center of the...

  • Correct Replacement for 26-1/2 Long Leaf Spring
It's not uncommon for new trailer leaf springs to measure shorter than the old leaf springs they are replacing. The reason for this is that leaf springs stretch as they age. Therefore, I do think the 26" long leaf spring options we offer will work for you. In order to find the right one you just need to find your axle capacity; part # e77SR for 2,000 lb, part # e22YR for 4,000 lb, or part # e94SR for 6,000 lb. For new u-bolts, we have the 2" Square Trailer U-Bolt part # SP01-160.

A lot of people get hung up on how many layers their leaf springs have but that actually isn't crucial at all. You will most likely need to use a 1,000LB spring like either the Double-Eye Spring 26" # e77SR or 20-3/8" # e53SR. It is important to match the springs as close as possible to the weight of the trailer and the cargo without exceeding the weight rating for your trailer. Hey Ryan, You're right that leaf springs can flatten a bit over time, but I wouldn't go with a full 1/2 inch less. Something slightly shorter (1/4 inch or so) would be better, but otherwise, I'd stick with the 26 inch springs. Just a reminder the measurements should be taken center of spring eye to center of spring eye as opposed to the full length, and while we don't have 25-7/8 inch leaf springs, we do have 26 inch springs, the 2,000 lb # e77SR, 4,000 lb # e22YR, and 6,000 lb # e94SR. • Leaf Spring Recommendation to Replace 27 inch Long Spring on Camper with 1,500 lb Trailer Weight
Length-wise the leaf spring part # SP-210275 that you referenced is about right at 27 inches. Since your trailer only weighs 1,500 lbs though this is going to give you a somewhat rough ride quality. A better option would be # e77SR most likely as it has a 2,000 lb axle weight rating and is 26 inches long. I know that's an inch shorter than what you listed, but leaf springs stretch out over time as they wear out so your 27 inch springs were most likely a bit shorter when new like this spring.
