A stiff or binding suspension can make towing rough. This TruRyde 3-1/2" long shackle strap connects the double-eye leaf spring to the rear hanger or equalizer so the system can pivot the way it’s meant to. That movement helps keep load forces balanced and ride quality consistent, preventing uneven stress between axles.
Getting the right geometry is key to smooth suspension travel. The 9/16" bolt holes on this strap are precisely sized for common trailer suspension hardware, giving a snug but free-moving fit. It prevents excess play while still allowing the equalizer and springs to flex naturally on bumps and turns.
Shackle straps take a beating every mile, so solid construction matters. At 1/4" thick, this TruRyde link resists bending and wear from repeated articulation. It’s tough enough to stay straight under heavy load cycles without elongating or cracking over time.
When it’s time to swap worn shackles, matching dimensions ensures everything lines up perfectly. Measuring 4-3/4" overall length and 1-1/4" wide, this strap drops in as a dependable replacement that restores correct spacing and motion in your trailer suspension system.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look at this shackle strap. Now, this three and a half inch long shackle strap is going to connect your double eye spring to your rear hangar of your single axle trailer or your equalizer on your multiaxial trailer. This connection, as you no doubt know, is going to allow movement to take place, ensuring an evenly distributed load between the axles. This is made of durable steel and shackle.
strap lengths are measured from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the other. So lining up my ruler here, as you can see on center, we're sitting right at three and a half inches, center to center, and that bolt hole diameter is 9 16ths of an inch. And if you're interested, the overall length of our strap is right at four and three quarters inches long, edge to edge, and then the overall width, we're sitting at one and a quarter inches. Well, that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

High quality shackle straps would buy from again also fast shipping and great customer service
what would be a great help for this "senile citizen" is a reminder that pops up on this item and says "are you sure you want just ONE pair ??? usually TWO pair are purchased for a single axle trailer" .. oh well I can just go down the road with a trailer that has a slight list to one side :-) all kidding aside, the item looks sturdy and well made, great price !
Hello etrailer; Previously I mistakenly ordered the wrong size. I called and CAROL C. found the correct item in a matter of minutes and followed thru with getting it shipped that same afternoon. Thank you Carol for your professionalism and knowledge of products. [ ]
No problems. All four were made to good tolerances. Much heavier than the one I took off the trailer.
Bought these to raise the trailer a touch. Easy to install. Fast shipping & response. Also bought new bolts 7 locknuts. Bought new bushings just in case but didn't need them. Well satisfied with my purchase.
The spring shackles that I ordered from Etrailer a year ago are holding up just fine and have met my epectations
Etrailer.com has made the repair of my trailer very easy for me by supplying me with high quality parts at reasonable prices. They packaged the parts carefully and shipped quickly. I will no longer look anywhere else when I need trailer parts. This is a one stop and shop great place to do business. Thank You Etrailer, Dave
Thought these might work but too short for the intended application. I needed a longer shackle to improve the clearance for the tire from the fender wheel well.
This worked perfectly as I needed an additional inch of clearance between my fender and tire.
My fender was not able to be moved higher and I didn't want the height that an axle spring flip creates.
My old straps were just over 2" and this gave my exactly one inch of rise.
Good value for the price. Started rusting within days of installation so take the time to rattle can if you hate rust like I do!

Great product, work like a champ. Excellent machining standards allowed for easy install. End result is more clearance in the wheel well.

Work great, hauled many heavy loads with no issues . Recommend
To me a shackle is made of 2 pieces. It is unusable with only 1 piece. $X.XX for half a shackle is overpriced, then they add insult to injury by charging $5 shipping.

Our manufacturers have typically sold the shackle straps as single straps unless they are part of a specialized kit. I was not sure what the second piece would be that you are looking for? Would it be a shackle bolt like part # 166081?
Needed to raise my frame on a pontoon trailer for a little more tire to fender clearance. Going from a 2" shackle strap to this 3 1/2" worked perfect. Good quality and shipped fast.
Even with the product taking almost a month to arrive I gave Etrailer 5 stars... UPS lost my package and never admitted to it saying that it was USPS’s fault. Karen, at Etrailer, was very helpful with contacting UPS to try and figure out what happened, and ultimately re-shipping the items. After they arrived, they bolted directly to my existing enclosed trailer with no problem. Thanks again Karen!
It fit perfectly but it actually used it for a shackle on a hit rod I’m building . That car is a sebring 3000 mx with pinto leaf springs. Just so happens the shackle strap fit the shackle perfectly.when you build a hot rod you always open your mind to found what works. A trailer part on a car made sense .
These are very solid steel. But I didn't order them to use as spring shackles, but for steel straps such as for the bottom side of a U bolt. I also needed to replace a tongue jack mounting bracket but didn't want to buy an entire mounting kit (as suggested by an etrailer "expert") so I used this instead. You can see by the attached photo that they do a better job of mounting the tongue jack by not hanging down below the trailer tongue as the factory brackets do. But they do need to be painted--which is no problem since the zinc coated ones would also need paint eventually (unless you don't mind the rust). I bought several in various sizes for mounting stuff to my trailer tongues and for other projects.
I wish the shackle bolts came out as easy as ordering the parts!!!!
Jean at etrailer made it simple, answered all my questions and advised on some other items I would need to complete the job.
The parts arrived quick and everything was there. The shackle straps were heavy duty not light metal junk. The bolts and springs were also of the same quality.
Etrailer is trailers I highly recommend them you won't be disappointed.
Thanks again Jean.

So far so good never realized my old springs were so bad till I installed Etrailers parts. Thanks again, Paul S
I can't say enough good things about the product or service. The order was shipped within a couple of hours of being placed and arrived 3 days early. This was important because I was stranded far from home. The sales help was great. The new leaf springs really improved how the trailer feels on the road. The picture is of my sheep wagon trailer at my hideaway in New Mexico after driving 1900 miles including highway speeds of 75 mph as well as crawling up jeep trails in four wheel low, the new springs took it all in stride.

No problems at all. Since I last commented I have taken it to California, numerous trips around California, to Idaho and back. I spend a lot of time on washboard gravel and dirt roads. Last week I had the tires replace and the springs looked perfect.
Purchased replacement springs, equalizers, shackles and all the needed hardware to put it all together for my tandem axle boat trailer. While I was trying to figure out all the parts I needed on-line, I made a couple calls to etrailer's customer service and they were awesome! Parts arrived quickly and are exactly what I needed. I put together one of the spring / equalizer / spring set-ups and placed it on the trailer frame to confirm fit. Perfect! Looking forward to swapping all the parts out this weekend. And I'll be shopping with etrailer again soon to get a trailer hitch for my new Durango!
Thanks etrailer!
Everything was what was expected and the delivery was on time. I will always look to etrailer for my trailer parts. I built a trailer from scratch and it was etrailer that helped build it.
Exactly as described.
Good quality, fair price
I was a little unsure about this one. But it was a direct fit. The measurements on the site were very helpful. Not bad for the price.
The shackle and bolts fixed my problem .Original shackle had pointed or right angle corner and the trailer hung up.
The new shackle had a radius corner and didn't catch the frame.
Works great
