Video Transcript for Replacement Shackle Strap Feature Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at a replacement shackle strap. A shackle strap connects a double aisle leaf spring to a hangar of a single-axle trailer or to an equalizer of a multi-axle trailer. It's going to allow the necessary pivot of the springs to occur for an evenly distributed load between the axles, and also a smooth ride for the trailer. This part number is good for one shackle strap. If we take a measurement, the distance that we have from the center of one hole to the center of the other, that's going to give us the measurement of 2-5/8". Overall length, edge to edge, is around 4".

Overall width from edge to edge is going to give us a measurement of about 1-1/4". The hole diameters, that's going to be 9/16". You can see it's made from a nice durable steel construction. That's going to do it for today's look at the replacement shackle strap.

Excellent replacement component. Worked well to replace the 5 year old worn shackle from our enclosed trailer

by:

by:

Correct parts and worked as they should. Replaced springs and hardware on one side of trailer the day i recieved parts.

by:

The tire blew out on my camper. I changed the tire. I didn’t realize the spring was broke. I ordered springs and shakels and new bolts. It took just over and hour for both sides. Everything I received from etrailer was just as it should be.
Keep up the good job everyone.
Thank you

by:

Great service and delivered early. Can't thank you enough for this

by:

The spring replacement went well and was easy to complete. It lifted my trailer about 1.5 inches from the top the tire to the fender. It wont rub anymore!!

by:

When ordering, the descriptions plus dimensions helped a lot. Pictures of everything was great! Knew exactly what I was ordering. Delivery was right on time and the parts were good quality. I was in a hurry to do these repairs so we could take our trailer on a trip. It was a pleasure to do business with e-trailer! Thank you!

by:

Excellent parts. Fast shipping.

by:

Outstanding company to order parts from! All the items where exactly what I needed and whent together great. Minus the old suspension that was completely rusted together haha. Once again great experience all around.

Thanks
Dan

by:

Worked perfect.

by:

Order received was missing significant pieces as per my notification to customer service. Looks like all parts, nuts bolts flanges were all packed loose in the box, UPS destroyed the package and reboxed, resulting in missing items. Attached picture is what I received.

by:

Fit perfect with the equalizers I also bought from etrailer.

Great replacement for a car hauling trailer built from a house trailer frame that had badly warn suspension parts. These suspensions worked perfectly.

by:

Parts we're as described. ....went in perfectly. ...e trailer is #1

by:

Good product, worked as expected.

by:

I put them on a double axle goose neck 2-horse straight load that gets used almost 2 days a week this last year. It has made many 100mile trips. I bought it used 8-hrs from home. Bought and installed new tires the next day and jacking it up broke a leaf spring. Put four springs on it using these shackles. Good as new!

by:

Easy ordering, fast delivery. Great pri ces.

by:

They are working great.

by:

Good fit for a replacement on my utility trailer. Will probably hit them with a can of spray paint as they're bare metal.

by:

Reasonably priced replacement part

by:

Package with straps was mangled in transit. The straps were not there. I called Etrailer and hey immediately sent replacements. Great service.

by:

Quick delivery. Perfect fit.

  • Replacement 3,500 lb Leaf Springs & 7-3/4 Inch Wide Equalizer
Thanks for all that info and we can get you exactly what you are needing. Since you have a 2-3/8" axle that would be a 3,500 lb axle, so you want leaf springs rated for that weight. The concern with springs that exceed the rating of your axle is that they will give you a very stiff, rigid ride, so you want to stay with the correctly rated springs. I'll go ahead and list out the parts you need, with a couple notes. First is that leaf springs elongate slightly over time, which is why the...

  • Can I Use 1/2" Longer Shackle Straps for My Trailer Suspension
If the shackle straps are within a 1/2" of what you normally had, say the 2-5/8" # 115052 to 3-1/8" # TRSL313, you should be okay to install them. Just make sure that all of your shackle straps match though. If you are using the longer straps only for a section of your suspension setup then that will cause issues for your trailer.

  • How to Find Replacement Leaf Springs and Shackles for 1967 Aristocrat Camper
Finding replacement leaf springs for your 1967 Aristocrat camper will require some more information. You will need your axle capacity, current leaf spring length, and the shackle length. If you don't know your axle capacity, try checking the axle tag to see if it is listed. For your leaf spring measurement, we are measuring from spring eye to spring eye. For the shackles measure center hole to center hole. For example, if you have a 3,500 lb axle with a 27" leaf spring measurement you...

  • Replacement 7,000 lb Leaf Spring & Mounting Hardware
The 7,000 lb double-eye leaf spring we have that is closest to 26" is the 24-7/8" long 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # e64SR. Assuming yours have flattened a good amount (which will definitely be true if the trailer is older), these will work out as a good replacement. You mentioned hardware, and I'm assuming you were referring to U-bolts, shackle bolts and straps. You'll need to measure your shackle straps but you can use the following: - U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-9 -...

  • Wet Bolt and Shackle Kit with 2-5/8 inch Shackles for 2018 KZ Durango with Dexter 5,200 lb Axles
We have replacement shackles that are 2-5/8 inches bolt hole center to bolt hole center with the part # 115052 but we do not sell these in a kit like you asked about. Then for wet bolts that will work with these that come with matching nuts you'd want the part # 126B2. For a tandem axle setup you'd need a quantity of 8 shackles and 14 bolts.

Although we do have 1/2" replacement bolts, there are no kits that include them. However, we can piece everything together. For a 1/2" bolt we have the # ABS74FR and for a 9/16" the # 9163B. Assuming an 11/16" outer diameter you can use the # TRBU11506 for a nylon bushing with a 1/2" inner diameter and # 721590 for 9/16" ID. You will need to make sure your bushings match the outer diameter. You will also need to measure your shackles to get the right shackle length. This measurement...

  • Heavier Duty Shackle Kit Solution to Replace what Came with # APT5
The shackle straps that come with the # APT5 are 2-5/8 inches long which we have standard replacements for with the part # 115052 but since you are wanting something more heavy duty I would go with the # MR76ZR as this gives you a much heavier duty shackle that also includes new bolts (to accommodate the thicker shackles), and new bushings as well. The shackles of this kit are longer at 3-1/8 inches which will allow the trailer to sit a little taller but otherwise will work just fine.

Hello Russell, thanks for reaching out. The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kits only come with 2-1/4" long shackles or 3-1/8" long shackles. These are measured center hole to center hole. The MORryde kits are great quality, so if you want to use one, I recommend the # MR46ZR which comes with the 2-1/4" shackles. Ideally, we would want the shackles to be the same length, but a difference of 3/8" is within tolerance. We do offer 2-5/8" long shackles individually, the Replacement Shackle Strap...

I would be happy to help! Since the horizontal mounting hole measurement of the equalizers on your 2016 Winnebago 2351DKS is 5-1/2" there are a few different equalizer upgrade options. To determine which one will be best for you, you will need to measure from the center line of the horizontal mounting holes to the center of the upper mounting hole which will tell you how tall your equalizer is. • Leaf Springs and Shackle Straps for Triple Axle Trailer with 7-3/4 Inch Equalizers
The issue you are experiencing is a result of leaf springs that are too long for your hanger spacing. You will want shorter springs and I recommend also going with a capacity more geared toward your axles. You will want to use the Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs # APTT5 and # APTT3 for reference. These kits are rated for 2,000 to 7,000 lb axles with almost identical spacing. We recommend having a minimum of 3" between the top of the tire and bottom of the fender in order to allow for proper suspension travel. However, based on the photo you sent I believe you need new leaf springs as the ones you have appear to be almost completely flat. This has then compromised your tire clearance. The flattened leaf springs could either be a result of overloading the trailer or just general wear. In order to replace them you would need to know your axle capacity and the...

  • Using Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Dimensions to Compare to Original Equalizer
In the case of using an equalizer upgrade like the # LC696740, you're rarely going to find a like to like replacement that matches all 3 of the dimensions. The most important dimension is the side to side measurement and the other measurements, as long as they're relatively close, can be made up for by changing shackle straps. Because the difference is negligible you may be able to use your existing shackles. However, you may need slightly longer shackles like the Replacement Shackle Strap...

  • What Causes Trailer Equalizer to Be Tilted and Not Flat
Hey Arnold, if your trailer is sitting level and the equalizer is off to one side like that that means the springs are too long or the front and rear hangers are too close together. If the trailer is sitting level the easiest solution would be to go with a slightly shorter leaf spring. Someone could have installed too long of a spring on your trailer or like you said it stretched over time. To pick out replacement springs you'll need to know the current axle capacity and the length...
