Video Transcript for etrailer Trailer Suspension 115052 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at a replacement shackle strap. A shackle strap connects a double aisle leaf spring to a hangar of a single-axle trailer or to an equalizer of a multi-axle trailer. It's going to allow the necessary pivot of the springs to occur for an evenly distributed load between the axles, and also a smooth ride for the trailer. This part number is good for one shackle strap. If we take a measurement, the distance that we have from the center of one hole to the center of the other, that's going to give us the measurement of 2-5/8". Overall length, edge to edge, is around 4".

Overall width from edge to edge is going to give us a measurement of about 1-1/4". The hole diameters, that's going to be 9/16". You can see it's made from a nice durable steel construction. That's going to do it for today's look at the replacement shackle strap.

I was very disappointed when I received the shipment from etrailer and only half the parts were there. When I made the order I was told everything was in stock and would be shipped.

Good products from etrailer.

Easy installation holding up well.

Worked perfect.

Order received was missing significant pieces as per my notification to customer service. Looks like all parts, nuts bolts flanges were all packed loose in the box, UPS destroyed the package and reboxed, resulting in missing items. Attached picture is what I received.

Good product, worked as expected.

Fit perfect with the equalizers I also bought from etrailer.

Great replacement for a car hauling trailer built from a house trailer frame that had badly warn suspension parts. These suspensions worked perfectly.

Correct parts and worked as they should. Replaced springs and hardware on one side of trailer the day i recieved parts.

The spring replacement went well and was easy to complete. It lifted my trailer about 1.5 inches from the top the tire to the fender. It wont rub anymore!!

When ordering, the descriptions plus dimensions helped a lot. Pictures of everything was great! Knew exactly what I was ordering. Delivery was right on time and the parts were good quality. I was in a hurry to do these repairs so we could take our trailer on a trip. It was a pleasure to do business with e-trailer! Thank you!

I put them on a double axle goose neck 2-horse straight load that gets used almost 2 days a week this last year. It has made many 100mile trips. I bought it used 8-hrs from home. Bought and installed new tires the next day and jacking it up broke a leaf spring. Put four springs on it using these shackles. Good as new!

The tire blew out on my camper. I changed the tire. I didn’t realize the spring was broke. I ordered springs and shakels and new bolts. It took just over and hour for both sides. Everything I received from etrailer was just as it should be.
Keep up the good job everyone.
Thank you

Easy ordering, fast delivery. Great pri ces.

They are working great.

Good fit for a replacement on my utility trailer. Will probably hit them with a can of spray paint as they're bare metal.

Reasonably priced replacement part

Outstanding company to order parts from! All the items where exactly what I needed and whent together great. Minus the old suspension that was completely rusted together haha. Once again great experience all around.

Package with straps was mangled in transit. The straps were not there. I called Etrailer and hey immediately sent replacements. Great service.

Quick delivery. Perfect fit.

A+ Thank you.

Worked great for me.

Parts we're as described. ....went in perfectly. ...e trailer is #1

All the items look great. I'll let you guys know if I'm still happy after installation.

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Shackle Bolt and Straps for Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension
Based on the info you gave me I don't know exactly what you would need so your best option would be to measure the diameter and length of the bolts you would need plus the length of the shackle strap. Once you have that info check out the links I attached that are the shackle and bolt pages we have. You would be able to select what dimensions you need from the filters on each page.

  • Solution for Trailer Axle that Continues to Pop Up
To prevent your trailer's rear axle from continuing to pop up, a great place to start is by replacing the shackle links on your trailer. When the shackle links become worn and the holes elongate and stretch, the equalizer can move and cause the axle to "pop". When this happens while driving, typically it takes another jostle to the suspension to bring the axle back to the correct position. Shackle straps come in a variety of different lengths. One common length is 2-3/4 inches, such as...

  • How to Prevent Leaf Springs from Hitting Trailer Frame on a Gooseneck Trailer
It sounds like the eye of the leaf spring is coming in contact with the bottom of the trailer frame. If this is the case then your only three options to fix this would entail either replacing the equalizers, shackle straps, or leaf spring hangers. The equalizers and leaf spring hangers would need to be taller and the shackle straps would need to be shorter in order to gain the clearance you are looking for. The leaf spring hangers will require you to cut off the old and weld the new on...

  • Can 2-1/2" Shackle Straps be Used for 2006 Innsbruck-Lite 26RB Suspension
When it comes to shackle straps on a trailer suspension it really boils down to what looks correct. Since leaf springs and equalizers can be switched out (especially on older trailers), longer or shorter shackle straps can be used to help make sure everything is lined up correctly (see attached photo). As long as your suspension looks like that photo then it is perfectly fine to use 2-1/2" shackle straps like the part # 115052 which is 2-5/8" long. If your suspension doesn't look like...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Wet Bolts and Shackle Straps for Trailer
While we can help you determine the correct parts, we don't have a way of knowing exactly what type or length of shackle straps or bolts are on a trailer so you'll need to do a bit of measuring just to verify what you need. Trailer parts are universal so there isn't any specifically adaptable to your trailer, which is why you'll need to measure, and we carry hundreds and hundreds of brands, but most notably those like Dexter and Lippert. It sounds like you are only looking for replacement...

  • How to Pick Out Leaf Spring Replacement for Canoe Trailer with 5k Rated Axle
The first priority when picking out replacement trailer leaf springs is to match the capacity of the spring with what the trailer needs. The best option for that would be the e34SR that is designed for 6k rated axles. This spring measures 25-1/4 inches in length and while typically old worn out springs stretch out a bit yours would be a bit too long. You may have to move one of the hangers closer to the other to compensate. You would want the hangers to be right at 24-7/8 inches apart. For...

  • Replacement Suspension Parts Needed for a 5 x 10 Homemade Trailer
We do offer a wide variety of shackle straps, like the 2-5/8" long part # 115052, which you can find on the linked page. These don't just fit certain leaf springs lengths though. I think you may be talking about hangers for double eye springs. One of our most popular (from the linked selection) is part # 28-5 which is compatible with 1-3/4" leaf springs and is 3-1/4" tall. I have also a helpful article on positioning the axle that you may be interested in.

  • Determining The Correct Replacement Leaf Springs and Shackles Straps For A 1992 Dutchman Camper
I would be happy to help! It looks like you were looking at shackle straps, and also needing the leaf springs you mentioned. Starting with the leaf springs you will need to determine the length of your current leaf spring measured from the center of the spring eye to center of the spring eye if it is a double eye leaf spring, or from center of the spring eye to the end of the spring if it is a slipper spring, and also you will need to know the axle rating of your axle(s). • The Axles On My Trailer, One Is Up, The Other Is Down, What Should I Do
Ideally, you want both of your axles to be overslung or underslung. After reading your question, it appears you have one of each. An overslung axle has the leaf springs on top of the axle, which the shackles underneath. The underslung axle has the leaf springs underneath the axle and the shackles on top of the axle. If you want to raise the height of your trailer, you want overslung axles. Your axles leaf springs may not match because your trailer's shackles can rotate while your trailer...

  • Can Trailer with Slipper Springs be Replaced with Double Eye Springs
You can replace slipper spring suspension on a trailer with double eye springs but you will need to remove the old hangers and have new ones installed as well as get the correct suspension mounting hardware. For a 26 inch spring we have the # e27SR which is for a 4,500 lb axle. For a hanger kit the part # APS4 would work great since it's for a single axle which comes with hangers, bolts, and shackles.

I went to our warehouse to pull each bolt and the length of 3-inch bolts like # 126B2 (overall length end to end 3-5/16 inches plus zerk fitting of 5/16 of an inch) and # 166081 (3-3/8 inches overall length end to end). The reason your shackle links are oblong in shape is from wear and tear. The bolt holes should be round and each hole should be exactly the same diameter. When replacing springs always replace them in pairs (2 springs per axle) but if you are going to replace all 6 then that is even better. When measuring a spring you have to do it with the weight off of the spring by either removing the spring or jacking up one side of the trailer and measuring on that side. The reason I bring that up is because the double-eye springs that we have do not have the exact measurements that you have provided. Spring # e64SR is a close option. Eye to eye it...
