Leaf springs, as you probably know, make up an important part of your trailer's suspension. Their main purpose is to absorb road shock as you travel, as well as allow your axle(s) to move independently of the rest of the trailer.
To mount this leaf spring, you'll need hangers welded onto your trailer frame - which you probably already have in place - as well as shackle straps and a suspension bolt. It's a good idea to replace your existing straps and bolt while you're under there working on things because they tend to wear out quickly. One thing that could help keep them from wearing out too fast would be upgrading to galvanized or zinc-plated hardware. Doing so will boost the corrosion resistance and, therefore, the longevity of your trailer.
We also always recommend replacing both of your springs at the same time because it's not unusual for leaf springs to sag and elongate over time. If you replace just the one, there's a good chance that it won't match your existing spring on the opposite side of your trailer, and that can mess up your alignment.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the 26 inch long Four Leaf Double I Spring for 4,000 pound trailer axles. Now this leaf spring will act as part of your trailer suspension system. Basically, this will provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle. This is for a quantity of one leaf spring. The number of leaves is four, and the spring capacity on this spring is 2000 pounds.
So when this is used with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet the 4,000 pound axle capacity. Now the multiple leaves allow flexibility to absorb any road shock, allows for a nice smooth ride, and it reduces wear and tear on the trailer. Also ensures a nice level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. It is a sturdy steel construction and if you look on the each eye here, it does include the nylon bushings already installed. Now the pre-mounted hangers, or the aftermarket hangar kit, which is required for installation, those items we do sell separately on our website.
Basically the spring will attach to the hangar that's mounted on your trailer frame at one end, and then the other end connects to shackle straps suspended from the hanger or equalizer. A few measurements on this we wanted to mention. The length, which is measured center to center, eye to eye, is 26 inches. And just to put a tape measure on that for you. If we go right across, there's your 26 inch measurement.
The width of the spring is 1 and 3/4 inches, and the eye diameter with the bushings installed is 9/16 of an inch. But that's gonna do it for the review on the 26 inch long Four Leaf Double I Spring for 4,000 pound trailer axles.
