Leaf springs, as you probably know, make up an important part of your trailer's suspension. Their main purpose is to absorb road shock as you travel, as well as allow your axle(s) to move independently of the rest of the trailer.
To mount this leaf spring, you'll need hangers welded onto your trailer frame - which you probably already have in place - as well as shackle straps and a suspension bolt. It's a good idea to replace your existing straps and bolt while you're under there working on things because they tend to wear out quickly. One thing that could help keep them from wearing out too fast would be upgrading to galvanized or zinc-plated hardware. Doing so will boost the corrosion resistance and, therefore, the longevity of your trailer.
We also always recommend replacing both of your springs at the same time because it's not unusual for leaf springs to sag and elongate over time. If you replace just the one, there's a good chance that it won't match your existing spring on the opposite side of your trailer, and that can mess up your alignment.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for your 6,000-pound trailer axle. Now, this double-eye leaf spring acts as part of your trailer suspension system by providing an attachment point for a 6,000-pound trailer axle. It is made from a sturdy steel construction, and this is designed to flex to absorb road shock and give you a smooth ride. That's gonna help reduce wear and tear on your trailer, and it's going to ensure a level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces.
Now, double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of the spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger, and these straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. Now, if you have a tandem or a triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs. So if you need hangers, suspension bolts, or equalizers, you can find all that here at etrailer.com.
In the eyes on each end are pre-installed nylon bushings. The eye diameter with the bushings is 9/16 inch. Without the bushing, it's 11/16 inch. And again, this is going to be a 4-leaf spring with the leaf thickness of 1/4 inch. And by itself, it has a spring capacity of 3,000 pounds, and, again, when paired with another one on the other side, that's where you're gonna get your 6,000-pound trailer axle capacity.
Now, let me see if I can line this up here for you on camera. Measuring center of eye to center of eye, you can see we're sitting right at 25-1/8 inches on center. The width of this spring is 1-3/4 inches. Now, additional dimensions with a diagram are available on this product page if you're looking for some more measurements. And of course, to ensure proper axle alignment, I'm sure you know leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs, so that's gonna help with proper axle alignment and suspension performance as well.
If you do decide to pick this up, we would love to hear back from you regarding the installation and the operation of the spring. You can share your experience with us by leaving a comment or a review on this product page. If you leave a review, you can also leave us some photos as well showing this spring on your towing set up. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Springs look good and are very beefy. Should work well for the trailer application. The only problem I had was with the spring eyes. I removed the installed plastic bushings because I have wet bolt kits with brass bushings. When I pressed in the new brass bushings with a vice, 2 of bushing were distorted by the out of round diameter of the spring eye and the bolt would not go all the way through. I had to ream out the bushing using a 9/16" drill bit for the shackle bolt to go all the way through the spring. Apparently, the plastic bushings have enough "give" to avoid this issue. This was disappointing as I purchased these springs because they were made in the USA. I purchased a different pair of springs to use on this trailer, and I will keep these for spares or for a different trailer application. Probably not an issue if you stay with the plastic bushings.
