Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this replacement base assembly for the Demco Recon Gooseneck- to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter. It has a 21,000-pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this part will replace just the base assembly on your Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter. That adapter we do sell separately on our website, goes by a part number of DM 8550046.
And I did wanna pop up an insert just to share what that adapter looks like. Basically, the adapter will include this base assembly and then the 5th-wheel hitch head that you can see there, that'll install right here on the yoke of this assembly. Now, this is a sturdy steel construction, uses a rust-resistant, black powder coat finish on it, and it is a quick and simple installation. Basically, right down here, it's gonna drop onto the ball of your gooseneck hitch. This pin right here, you'll pull, there's a pin here.
Pull that pin out, drop it onto the gooseneck ball, put the pin back through, clip it into place, and it secures it there. And it does offer three hitch height settings to fit your application. The hitch height is measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. That'll be installed on this assembly, and it gives you the hitch height range from 12 inches to 13-1/4 to 14-1/2 inches. So there's three different hitch height settings.
And the way you would adjust it, if you notice, comes with this large pin with the clip on it. So what you would do is your hitch head will be attached to this yoke. This yoke, as you can see, will go up or down, and there's three holes on the side of it. And right here, there's a hole in here. So you line up the correct hole with the height that you need.
Run this pin and clip through there, secure it, and then you have the correct hitch height you need to tow evenly. Now, this part is made in the USA. Again, the application. This will work on flatbed truck beds that have a 2 and 5/16-inch recess gooseneck hitch ball. As we mentioned, the gross towing weight capacity is 21,000 pounds. The vertical load limit will be 5,250 pounds. But that's gonna do it for a look at this replacement base assembly for the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter.

Item was ordered(Monday), shipped(same day) and arrived (Wednesday)as promised by James J, he was great and helped resolve an issue I had while placing my order online. We were glad I’m arrived in a timely manner because we were scheduled to pick up our new 5th wheel that Saturday. However, the larger box was damaged at some point during transit and wasn’t until we opened the package and identified every piece that we noticed it was missing a vital part. The .50x4.00 bent pin that secures to goose neck in my bed.
It was Thursday morning and I called James back directly and left a voicemail, waited an hour and a half with no response, not his fault he was off; but didn’t wait and called main line immediately for help. Spoke with Matthew and he found exactly what I needed and was able to send it right away, he also spoke with James about the situation when he returned to work, and I was glad to know that the guys at etrailer have great communication, and customer service when addressing and keeping me informed.
Unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time but we were still able to get our 5th wheel last Saturday (4/8).
This review is for etrailer, not the product i received, as I have not installed and used it yet. I ordered the hitch. One box arrived and then I was notified by ups that the other box was damaged. I contacted etrailer and they immediately shipped out a new part. No questions asked. I got it three days later. I couldn’t ask for better service. I will continue to order through etrailer!
