Checking lubrication doesn’t get easier than this. The oil bath design lets you see the oil level right through the clear cap—no disassembly needed. Fill it with your preferred gear oil and you’ve got a cooler-running, lower-maintenance setup that keeps bearings in good shape and helps extend service life.
Everything needed to bolt it up comes in the box. The inner bearing (395S), outer bearing (387A), matching races, unitized oil seal (10-56), oil cap kit (RG04-270), wheel bolts, and lug nuts are all included. No hunting for part numbers or extra hardware—the core pieces are already here for a straightforward install.
Made from strong iron for durability, this hub-and-drum assembly uses an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern and 5/8" wheel bolts for a secure connection. It’s made to handle years of towing on heavy-duty setups while keeping braking performance consistent.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

This hub and drum assembly is for your 10,000 pound heavy duty axles with the 12 and a quarter inch by four inch brakes. This does have the 8 five-eighths-inch diameter wheel bolts in the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. The hub and drum are made here in the USA of a sturdy iron construction.
So it is gonna give us that 5,000-pound weight capacity which, combined with the other side, will give us the 10,000 pound capacity for our axle. These do have a nice wide surface area here for your brake shoes to grip hold of when your braking is activated. It's going to be compatible with electric and hydraulic drum brakes. The oil bath will allow you to check your lubrication level without disassembling the hub. You can look through the clear oil cap to check your lubrication.
This does have the inner and outer races as well as the inner and outer bearings. We also have our oil seal, our oil cap, the bolts and the nuts all included with this. Arrived quickly. Even though item was heavy it was packaged well with no damage. First time buying from this site and was very pleased.

The break parts are like original. When we got it back together we got our trailer DOT certified.Life can go on.
I received my parts on time and in good order. I ordered two left hand brake assemblies, and two right hand assemblies. Unfortunately, four right hand units were delivered. To the companies credit, they refunded me for two of the units. Also the knock off oil bath 12 inch Dexter brake drum hub assemblies, which were very good quality, did not have the oil drain hole drilled in the side of the hub like the originals. This made it slightly more difficult to fill them with oil and they also will be more difficult to drain them, add oil and refill. I will be tempted to purchase the original Dexters in the future.

Perfect fit. I bought these because I wanted to change my horse trailer from No. 2 wheel bearing grease to No. 00 semi fluid grease. It’s the best characteristics of both grease and oil hubs without the negatives if you ask me. Well I needed a vented hub so the oil bath hubs. A tube and a half later of Schaeffer’s 274 Moly EP synthetic NLGI#00 grease and all bearings packed, hubs half full of grease and everything torqued to spec and I was done. There really is no better place for trailer parts than etrailer. Best prices and fast shipping.
