Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Grease Seal For a Trailer Hub Using LM11949 Outer Bearing and LM67048 Inner Bearing
If you can send me the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal sits and the diameter of the hub where the seal is pressed onto I can verify if we have the correct seal. Currently I do see we carry 2 hubs which use the Inner Bearing # LM67048 and Outer Bearing # LM11949. First is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR which uses the Seal # 168233. This seal has an inner diameter of 1.688" and outer diameter of 2.332". The other hub is an Agricultural Hub...

  • Replacement For Titan Trailer Hub 17214
Thank you for that info and we do have a replacement for the Titan hub 17214. That hub is for 2,500 lb axles, uses inner bearing LM67048 and outer bearing LM11949; the correct replacement for that is the following: - Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # DX22XR The # DX22XR has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern like you need and comes with the bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts.

  • Looking For Replacement Trailer Hubs For 5 on 4-1/2" Lug Pattern With LM11949 Bearing And LM11910 Ra
Hey Jason, LM11949 is a bearing that works with LM11910 race, and we do have idler hubs that match these specs while also fitting your 5 on 4-1/2 lug pattern. That said, you'll also want to check the inner bearing to verify that it is LM67048 (1.25" inner diameter). If it is, then Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 # DX22XR is the correct idler hub. Keep in mind, these are not pre-greased so you will have to do that when they arrive. It is not hard to do...

  • Do You Have a Hub That Fits LM11949 and LM67048 Bearings?
Hey Jon, thanks for the information. The only 5 on 4-1/2 hub we have that fits a spindle with item # LM11949 and item # LM67048 bearings is an idler hub. It's the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 item # DX22XR. I am sorry but we do not have a brake drum that fits your spindle.

  • Is 1.25" ID Bearing Too Large to Replace 1.19" ID Bearing?
Hey Ralph, thanks for reaching out and providing all of the information! The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR is close, but the inner bearing/race combo will be too large and will cause issues. Unfortunately, there aren't any bearing/race combos that will fit in place of it either. You might be able to custom order a hub through a local shop, but it sounds like you have an older setup that you might need to replace. What trailer is this used on?

  • Trailer Idler Hub That Uses a LM67048 Bearing and Has a 5 on 4-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern
The LM67000LA is a Timken part number for a bearing cone with a 1.250" I.D. and a 2.328" O.D. This is the same as our bearing part # LM67048. The LM67010 is a Timken part number for a race with a 2.328" O.D. that matches our part # LM67010. The only trailer hub we have that uses this bearing/race and has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern is the Trailer Hub Assembly part # DX22XR. This hub uses a LM67048 inner bearing (1.250") and a LM11949 outer bearing (.750"). Unfortunately, we do not have...

  • Replacement Hub With 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern And LM67048/LM11949 Bearings
Hey Reed! It looks like you went ahead and ordered the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # DX22XR. This uses # LM67048 inner and # LM11949 outer bearings. THe LM11949 has a .075" inner diameter so that matches up with what you described. However, the grease seal that comes with this hub has an ID of 1.688". The National 204013 has an ID of 1.50" so you will need to swap out the grease seal for # CES32QR. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Replacement Hub for Titan 17214
Hey Jack, the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # DX22XR is the same as the old 17214. This is designed for a 2,500 lb axle and uses a # LM67048 inner and # LM11949 outer bearing which matches the bearing dimensions you mentioned so it would be exactly what you are looking for.

  • What Is The Smallest Available Spindle Nut For 2.5k Axle?
Hey Nate, We do not have a 3/4" spindle nut or washer, the smallest option is the 7/8" spindle nut # 165931and a 1" washer # SW1000. I cannot find anything smaller. Are you sure the threads on you're spindle are 3/4"? If they nut is actually 7/8", the above spindle nut and washer will be correct. The washer does not fit perfectly to the spindle, it is just there to give the nut more surface area to contact the bearing. Most 2k and 2.5k axles don't even use a washer to be honest.

  • Trailer Idler Hub That Has a 5 on 4-1/2 Lug Pattern and Uses LM67048 and LM11949 Bearings
The inner and outer bearing numbers you provided and in-line with axles that have a 2,500 lb weight capacity. Therefore, it is likely that you have a 2,500 lb axle or the spindles have been swapped out for a smaller version. The only trailer idler hub we have that has a 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern and uses an LM67048 inner bearing (1.250")/ LM11949 outer bearing (0.750") is the Trailer Hub Assembly part # DX22XR which has a 2,500 lb weight capacity.

  • Availability Of Shorter Hubs For Old Trailer
Hello Joshua, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you have an older trailer that uses the old-style "short" hubs. Sadly this kind of hub is obsolete and we do not carry anything to match that. All of the current modern hubs are about 4-1/4" long just like you said. With no compatible hubs available, the best solution here would be to replace your axle with something more modern. If you want to look into that I would need to know what weight capacity axle you need. I would also need...

  • Replacement Axle for Old Trailer That Uses Hub Bearing L11949
Tapered roller bearing # LM11949 is typically used in agricultural hubs and mates with race # LM11910. We do offer these parts the correct grease seals # CE16305A to match your dimensions but we do not offer any hubs that use this specific bearing as both the inner and outer bearing. Your best bet is to replace the entire axle with an up-to-date kit that includes everything, such as Dexter 3500-lb axle # 35545I-EZ-89 as an example. This 89-inch axle has spring seats spaced at 74-inches...

Terry, you are a rare specimen, and a welcomed question-asker. Thanks for providing all of those fine details! To replace your current hub, you need the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR. This comes with the correct bearings and races, but you'll need to also order the Grease Seal # SL150 and swap it out with the on that comes with the kit because this one will have the correct inner diameter. Let me know if you have any other questions about this, or if there's...

  • Does Hub & Drum Have to be Specific to Weight For 2,500 lb Axle
Hi Doug, Good question, and the weight listed for the hub and drum is just for the typical axle rating it fits, so it does not have to be a match. What does have to be a match is the bearing numbers; for example the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2K Axles # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K use inner and outer bearing L44649 with a 1.063" inner diameter, so you'd need that to match. There isn't a hub and drum for a 2,500 lb axle but there is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb...

  • Availability of Trailer Hub with Bearing Numbers LM11949 and LM67048
Hey Joe, we only have one hub that has that bearing combo with the part # DX22XR and it's an idler hub. Is your trailer/axle quite a bit older? This is a pretty old bearing combo that's not very common at all.

  • Availability Of Trailer Hub With .75" Outer And 1.25" Inner Bearings
I do have one hub that uses a .75" ( # LM11949) outer and a 1.25" ( # LM67048) inner bearing. This bearing combination is uncommon these days, but we have the hub # DX22XR. This is a 5 on 4-1/2" idler hub for a 2,500 lb axle. Bearings, seals, races, grease cap and lug nuts are all included. We also have a few sizes of wheels that will go with this; 15" wheel - # AM20422 14" wheel - # AM20365 13" wheel - # AM20253 12" wheel - # AM20132 We can also provide tires for any size trailer wheel...

  • Could Dexter 2,500 lb Axle Hub DX22XR Fit on 6 inch Long Spindle
Hey Tom, so the length from front to back on the Dexter 2,500 lb hub part # DX22XR is 4 inches but if you have the correct bearings for this hub I'd assume you measured your spindle overall and that's why it's showing 6 inches. Can you verify that you have a 2,500 lb capacity axle? If so, then this would be the correct replacement for it.

  • Replacement Hub/Drum Assembly Needed For A Older Boat Trailer
Hey Dennis, Based on the dimensions you provided it looks like your hub uses bearings # TMK36FR (LM11949) and # LM67048. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 # DX22XR is the only option we currently offer that uses these bearings and it unfortunately isn't a hub/drum assembly. You'll most likely need to replace the axle at this point to get a more common spindle and hub/drum. If you want to go that route then you'll want to measure the spacing between...

  • Looking For Spindle With LM67048 Inner And LM11949 Outer Bearing
Hello Brandon. Well, this isn't reddit, but we do offer one spindle that used the LM67048 (1.25" inner diameter) inner bearing and the LM11949 (0.75" inner diameter) outer bearing. Take a look at the Agricultural Spindle for 3,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU54FR. The # DX22XR does use a different seal though, so in order to use the # TRU54FR spindle you will need the # SL150 seal as well. I have included detailed dimensions of the # TRU54FR spindle below for your reference.

  • Can I use a different seal than what comes with DX22XR
That's a great question, Steven! Yes, you can totally swap hub # AH15450ECOMP for hub # DX22XR. To make it work, just be sure to use seal # SL150, it has a 1.5" inner diameter and a 2.331" outer diameter, which will fit perfectly with the Dexter hub. Just a quick note: when swapping hubs, it’s best to replace all of them with the same model to keep things consistent. Out of curiosity, what kind of trailer are you working on?
