This Dexter idler hub is made for trailers running 3,500-lb axles and standard #84 spindles. Each hub carries up to 1,750 lbs and includes everything you need—inner bearing L68149 (1.378" ID), outer bearing L44649 (1.063" ID), matching races (L68111 and L44610), grease seal #58846 (1.719" ID × 2.565" OD), grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. It’s a complete setup ready to bolt in when your old hub is worn out or damaged.
Finding the right hub can be tricky, but this one uses the most common 5-on-4-1/2" wheel bolt pattern so your existing wheels go right back on. It fits wheels from 13" to 17-1/2", and the 1/2" studs keep it compatible with standard trailer lug nuts. If you’ve got an older or mixed-brand setup, matching by bearing numbers and this pattern makes replacement simple.
The hub body is built from sturdy iron to handle steady towing loads day after day. That means less worry about cracking or distortion over time. It’s a straightforward, long-lasting design that holds up under normal use without needing special maintenance routines or tools.
Instead of hunting down separate bearings, seals, or caps, this complete Dexter kit comes with all of them already matched and sized correctly for the spindle. Slide it on, torque the wheel bolts, and you’re set—no checking cross-references or sourcing extra hardware at the last minute.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Excellent the trailer I installed them on has gone a lot of miles with no problems. I’m glad that I chose to replace the old hubs. It wasn’t much more work than replacing the bearings and safer than leaving the old hubs on. The videos on your website are sure helpful another benefit when ordering from etrailer.

All of the above still applies. The hubs are great. Caps, not even close. Would order galvanized next time.
