Features to know about

Smoother, More Controlled Stops: Electric-Over-Hydraulic Power

This Hydrastar actuator gives you the feel of hydraulic disc brakes with the control of an electric system. It responds instantly to commands from your in-cab electric brake controller (sold separately), sending hydraulic pressure right when you press the pedal. The result is smooth, proportional braking that eliminates the jerky on-off feeling of a surge setup. With a maximum output of 1,600 psi, it delivers strong, consistent stopping power for single- or tandem-axle trailers rated up to 14,000 lbs.

No More Surge Issues: Reliable Performance in Reverse and Downhill

If you’ve ever had your brakes drag going downhill or lock up when backing into a tight spot, this setup fixes that completely. The electric-over-hydraulic design applies braking pressure only when you command it, so there’s no interference while reversing or driving down grades. You can also use the manual override feature on your brake controller to engage trailer brakes without touching the tow vehicle brakes, adding extra safety when loading or controlling sway.

Built Tough for Long Service: Extruded Aluminum Construction

The actuator housing is made from extruded aluminum that stands up to weather and corrosion without rusting or pitting. A built-in bleeder lets you quickly flush air from your lines for easier maintenance. It’s compact at 11-3/4" long x 3" wide x 7-3/8" tall, so it fits neatly on the trailer frame and connects directly into the wiring and hydraulic brake lines. The actuator carries a 2-year warranty, while the included brake components are covered for 1 year.

Complete Setup in One Box: Includes Brake Line and Breakaway Kits

Everything needed to connect your disc brakes comes in the kit: one 15' brake line, one 6' line, two 4-1/4' lines, four 18" male/male flex lines, brass fittings, flare nuts, hose clamps, and self-tapping screws. A standard breakaway kit is also included for runaway protection. For triple-axle trailers, simply add line kit 9579-01 (sold separately). Once installed, you get dependable hydraulic braking that’s fully adjustable from inside your cab—no more getting out of the vehicle to lock out brakes or fight with a surge coupler.

I can now stop with confidence thanks to hydraulic disc brakes I installed that are activated by a Hydrastar electric-hydraulic actuator. I can almost stop as quickly with the trailer as without the trailer.
by:
These are the pics I took when I was done. Took two days to do but we'll worth it. I took pics after first load and now it feels good to actually stop with out wondering if the magnets were going to fail. I appreciate the fast shipping . The only thing I had to pick up was 25 feet of brake line,15 feet was not going to be anough . Other then this. I love it. Thank you very much and God bless

Installed on my 2009 Keystone Fuzion FZ302. I was very impressed by the fit and finish. What a difference in braking!! I don't think I will ever own a trailer with electric drums again. I was able to install all four in about 6 hours. This was taking my time to ensure all clearances were exact. The only thing I ran into was the sticky weights on my 16" wheels just touched the caliber. I had the wheels rebalanced with clip weights on the inside and we are now all good.

Absolutely amazing. All the precision control of electric brakes with the advantages of hydraulic disc brakes. It was a relatively straight forward installation. I paired the Hydrastar actuater with Kodiac 4 wheel disc brakes. My boat and trailer weigh about 9,500 pounds. I've never had braking in a trailer this good before. I actually had to turn the sensitivity down on the cab controller. Totally worth it. I highly recommend the Hydrastar actuater, especially when paired with Kodiac 4 wheel disc brakes.

Really like the disc brake conversion I did on my wolfpack toyhauler. Went with 8 lug hubs and wheels at the same time.
by:
Great Product, I installed a four disc brake system in one afternoon and the pump works great. Now my 40ft. trailer stops my truck.
by:
In the video the last box is the one with the hydraulic pump, the only one that had no damage because it was well packed, good job
by:
Great customer service Madison did a great job for me
by:
very easy to install , well build . But need to by extra fluid lines, 40 feet trailer will need more fluid line.
by:
all products were correct. Thanks
by:
Pretty easy installation
by:
As of now I'm very excited to put this new product on my trailer.
by:
Quality parts kit worked well.
by:
Installation went easy after watching their installation video brake lines were easy to install had to purchase extra fittings (purchased through E TRAILER) to make it fit the way the way needed
by:
One year in and still no problems and functioning great.

  • Which Trailer Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator is the Best
For the absolutely best performance and reliability you can't beat the HydraStar electric over hydraulic actuators. We have found that they are the most reliable, react the fastest and just in general work the best. For just the actuator you would want part # HBA16 but if you wanted a kit that has brake lines and a breakaway kit you would want the part # CAR-HBA16-2. Then for your hubs and rotors # K2HR35D. I also attached a link to a page that has a guide that will walk you through...

  • Parts Needed to Convert to Disc Brakes on 2011 Keystone Montana 346LBQ 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Adam, We can definitely get you set up to convert your 2011 Keystone Montana 346LBQ 5th wheel trailer from drum to disc brakes. You'll need a hub and rotor kit, so what you'll need is the following: - Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD66FR Since you're moving to disc, I assume you're going to an electric-over-hydraulic set up for your 5th wheel. We do have a kit with the rest of the needed parts for that if you need them, the Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes...

  • Converting to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes From Electric Brakes on Trailer With 7K Axles
There are a number of parts you will need to replace the electric drum brakes on your trailer, and though there is not an all-in-one kit I can let you know the parts you need, starting with a disc brake assembly to replace your current hub and drum. I contacted Lippert with the serial number from you axle and based off what they told me the the correct brake kit is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712D which is for 7,000 lb axles and has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern for your wheels. • Parts Needed to Convert 2004 Karavan 3100 with 3700 lb Axles to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc
The 3,700 lb trailer axle makes thing a bit more interesting since the components for it are not always standard. So what I need from you is either the spindle dimensions where the bearings and seal rides or the bearing numbers that are in the hub. With that I will know for sure what parts you'd need to convert to electric over hydraulic disc.

  • Timbren Silent Ride and Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for Lippert 7k Axles
The Timbren Silent Ride 7k system part # TSR7000T05 would be a great solution that doesn't quite break the bank like the MorRyde would. Then for a disc brake kit you'd want the part # K2HR712D which is a 7k kit that will fit your Lippert 7k axles well. You will also need the bearings part # 25580 and # 14125A for each hub and then seals too as part # RG06-070. This is a Dacromet coated setup which will fight corrosion well.

Andrew, if that's the case then you can use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R1258L12 to add brakes to your Big Tex trailer. This kit comes with everything needed to add brakes, will work with 12K axles, and has a 8 on 6 1/2 bolt pattern. ] The last thing you'd need is the Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes # CAR-HBA16-2 which includes the actuator and brake lines to actually active the brakes.

On your 2018 Montana 3791 RD, with Dexter 7K axles, we do have the parts but not in a kit for axles that large. I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 7,000 lbs # K2HR712D along with Bearing Kit # BK3-100. I recommend using grease # L11390 and cap # F001520 instead of doing the oil bath simply because if a seal fails you can melt your bearings and cause more issues than what grease would allow.
