This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur.
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole through the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole through the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Love these Demco eZ Latches. 2 out of my 3 trailers have them now and I'll be getting a third. So easy to couple with a *click* and its locked.
Solid coupler. Easy install, even easier to connect and disconnect from hitch ball. This replaced a broken hydraulic actuator in my switch to electric brakes.
This hitch is great. For two years I struggled hitching and unhitching my boat trailer. With this hitch all I need to do is get it close to the ball and it latches itself right on.
Makes hooking up way easier.

I received and bolted on the easy latch and it is functioning just like you explained it would. I am very satisfied.
The 5/16” hole for a lock pin is obstructed by the internal mechanism spring. If I look through the hole I can see the spring and it will not allow for a 5/16” pin to go through to the hole in the other side. I had to use a 1/4” lock pin and even that was difficult to get through. It appears that the piece on the underside that was welded on was welded on about an eighth of an inch too far forward, making it impossible for the mechanism to release out of the way of the lock pin hole. Would have preferred to use a 5/16” lock pin instead of a 1/4” for a bit of added security. Overall I like the coupler but this was disappointing.

I did research by test fitting here and I do see where this coupler would need a pin lock that is at least 2.5 inches long and is one quarter inch in size. Like part # e98887.
I THINK I LIKE DEALING WITH YOU GUYS, YOU GIVE UPDATES ON ORDERS , AND LET ME KNOW IF YOUR OUT OF STOCK ON SOMETHING AND WHEN TO EXPECT IT.

Received the Demco trailer coupler /ez-latch 7,000lb bolt on. Installed it yesterday on my boat trailer and fit perfectly. I really like the self locking latch, this give me an advantage if I were to forget to push the latch down on my older hitch, which I have done and drove about a mile before stopping and checking my hookup. Thank goodness nothing happened. I would recommend this coupler if you’re looking to update your coupler. Shipping was fast and the coupler came well packaged and on time. Good seller and would purchase again! Thanks etrailer….
Defintely works as advertised. I use this with a swivel lock hitch(no longer made) and it's so much easier to connect.
My $.02
I do have some thoughts though-The spring and rod in the center aren't stainless steel (It sticks to a magnet). Even though this is good for a salt spray, it has never seen the corrosion of Midwest winters for snowmobiling. I sprayed the spring and rod with zrc cold galvanizing and coated with grease.
The screw at the bottom is locktite, which is fine. However, I also added a stainless steel washer as extra insurance from loosening on bumpy salty roads.
If you plan to take it apart, watch the video on etrailer how to dis/re-assemble. Watch your eyes, the spring flies out at light speed.
Also, use 4 x 1/2 inch(or 4.5 if you use a support handle) Grade 8 bolts! That way you can get a nylock nuts and washers for extra support.

Still working great. I removed the lock pin on the handle and replaced with a stainless steel screw and bolt. I take it apart every spring to clean up the salt inside of it.
This is an excellent coupler. Installed and works well.
I upgraded from an 25 yo coupler with a rusted tongue that would stick, I love the automatic coupling to my truck and clean look.
This was an easy install and a great upgrade to a regular cheap coupler. Fast friendly service as always from etrailer.

I really like ordering from you. Because I don't like [online vendor] but I'm not to happy with etrailer the coupler I ordered. First of all the same part was on Amazon for $[XX] dollars less that's not a couple bucks I guess I will have to look in the Future.
I purchased a Jet Ski trailer to haul my fishing kayak around. I spent most of my time cursing and hurting my back so bad unhooking the trailer I started to hate going fishing. After I had this Demco hitch installed life was great again! It's so easy to hookup and unhook it blows my mind. NO MORE BACK PAIN!

After struggling for years to get my hitch lined up perfectly to get it to drop on this eZ-latch is unbelievably easy to connect. I wish I had known about these sooner.
Greatest trailer gear ever have already sold two more of these for you to fishing buddies of mine, no more fumbling around with hookups. Product to cheap for quality & ease of use! Difference maker for sure.

Funny you should ask one of the two buddies & I are constantly tweeking our boats to make them the best fly fishing tool possible, trailers?? not so much aside from general upkeep. That being said in one of our boat conversations Les expressed how much he loved his hitchcoupler best ever & he purchased another one for his drift boat that doesnt get used a whole lot. Pretty much sums up how solid product is.

Only suggestion - etrailer should really provide the bolts. Would feel more comfortable using the steel they choose to finish the job
Never try and return anything to e-trailer, they will subtract $[XX] for a shipping label out of your refund, given this is an item that I was charged under $[XX] for shipping to myself. All of this and the item was still brand new and in used. A $[XX] item.
