Mounting a 3" Coupler to a 2" Channel
Published 11/22/2022 >
Question:
I have a trailer with a 2” coupler and it has 2 mounting holes. I would like to switch it to a demo ez latch but they have 3 mounting holes. Is there a way to do that?

The only way to add a 3" coupler like the Demco item # DM15945 to a 2" wide trailer channel is to weld 1/2" plates of steel on both sides of your coupler and drill all new holes. If you have a welder this is extremely doable. You will just want to make sure you get the tongue sanded down to bare metal before you weld on the new plates.
I have linked a diagram below that will show you the dimensions.
